The lack of a crowd at the 23rd Budokai
Something has irked me ever since I first bought volume 17 of the tankobon and saw how DragonBall ended.
When Goku finally, finally wins the Tenkaichi Budokai, only his small group of friends are there to cheer for him. The rest of the audience had turned tail and fled when they discovered Ma Junior's identity, so the full crowd wasn't there to witness Goku's moment of triumph.
While we all know Goku's motivations well enough to realize he didn't care about that sort of thing and merely wanted to win for winning's sake, I can't deny the lack of more audience than the Kame gang sort of cheapens that scene where the announcer declares him the winner of the tournament.
Anyone have similar feelings?

BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I think it went along pretty well with the narrator's comments during the Cell Arc; something along the lines of "but the world had forgotten about the boy who had once defeated Piccolo Daimao."

I didn't really care whether or not the audience were there to witness Goku's victory at the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budokai. Their absence sort of added to the atmosphere of Goku and Piccolo's battle anyway--more quiet, less like a fun tournament match and more like a lonely fight to the death.

Tenkaichi Announcer was there, and he's all that counts.

For some reason that line feels deep to me...Odd. It kinda adds that feeling of, "I did what I did; people didn't see. It doesn't bother me, I just hope they'll live in peace and harmony while I'm gone.".Tyro wrote:I think it went along pretty well with the narrator's comments during the Cell Arc; something along the lines of "but the world had forgotten about the boy who had once defeated Piccolo Daimao."

What annoyed me more was the absence of Goku's friends at his wedding in the anime.

I agree. We go through 153 episodes of Goku meeting and getting to know all his friends. You'd expect them to be at the wedding. But no. Instead we get a couple of random villagers and Baba. Screw you Toei!Bura wrote:What annoyed me more was the absence of Goku's friends at his wedding in the anime.

Why doesn't Goku love them ????....why??? WHY????
Totally enforces the fact that he's not human. He's a saiyan.
I used to think Goku didn't care about glory, untill that horrible statue in GT. The anime staff figured it out from the start. Why does he want to do tournaments more than be with his friends or family ??....He's a saiyan.
