You know what?
You're absolutely right. I can't believe that slipped my mind. They don't make 4:3 HD TVs, so moot point.

Then again, since these people clearly don't give too much of a shit how good the picture looks, you'd wonder why they'd want to spend money on HD TVs and Blurays in the first place.

You... just made me kinda sad Adamant.
I'd kill for an HDTV and a Blu-Ray or PS3 right now, as poor as my ass is. The fact that there's people
here that ruin picture quality (and
on-purpose even) makes me consider how many people in the world that also don't care about it and watch nasty looking picture... Edit: A Dish Network commercial just said 30% of HDTV owners don't watch HD programming. Sigh.
My point is, anyone want to give their TV to me if they're just going to be stupid with it?

You stretch out the Dragon Boxes enough to have bars
on the top and bottom? Is that even possible? Or is this Kai you were talking about? ...either way.

I was actually talking about the FUNi single of "Path to Power", as I was watching that when I posted that. My TV has a setting to stretch the picture to widescreen.

Still with black bars on top and bottom though? Are you stretching it to an anamorphic widescreen 2.35:1, or just a normal 16:9 I mean... I'm confused... and horrified lol.

But... the movies were meant to be seen in widescreen, so the fullscreen picture you're stretching has image parts not intended to be seen. What you're literally doing is stretching a widescreen image in order to see the parts you weren't meant to see on your TV while also filling the screen, regardless of how bad the result looks.
...dude, just click the zoom button.

If there was a way to move subtitles I'd watch some stuff cropped, abso-lutely, but not DB, DBZ or GT, maybe the movies... and Kai, I watch that dubbed anyway so It shouldn't be a problem.

Is your TV is a 4:3 TV or 16:9 TV?

Like you would do anything better with it

4:3 tv's don't really have an option to stretch picture. At least CRT ones anyways. Those weird newer ones I'm not sure about, usually any stretching is done from whatever device your playing stuff from.
And... I wouldn't use an hdtv for it's proper intent and purpose? Is that trying to be an insult or do you really think it's hard to use a tv properly? My brother owns one and I had to show him how to push one button to switch display modes, because he was watching stuff in the wrong aspect ratio and had his PS3 hooked up by
composite cables. If anything, I'd be using one for damn near everything they can do.
So yes, I'd be doing a lot better with one. What's your angle? lol

You know what we should all do? We should get the
Philips Cinema 21:9 TV to give Dragon Ball a true cinema feel it was meant to be seen with

My mom's CRT TV has an option to squish a 4:3 broadcast into 16:9, or to stretch a (presumably hard-bordered) 16:9-in-a-4:3-signal broadcast into 4:3. It's useful when stations broadcast stuff in the wrong aspect ratio.

Obviously,
this is the only way to watch Kai.
Look at how cinematic it is!

That's pretty cool. I didn't know that they actually made them like that. Now I'm curious, what brand and model is it, do you know?

I think you're being sarcastic...
And even I think THAT much is ridiculous. I don't even like that on Pixar films.

I don't like that on ANY film.

Yeah. Why specifically mention Pixar films?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm not sure about DVD/BD releases, but whenever Pixar films air on NBC or a network station, that's literally about how big the bars are on the top/bottom.

Well, that's likely because their original aspect ratio is 2.35:1, which is not the same as a standard 16:9 television screen, which in turn means that it needs pillar bars at the top and bottom to fit... which in turn means that on a 4:3 display, yes, those pillar bars will seem "big"... but you're still seeing the entire picture.

Still, though, the above joke pic is MUCH wider than 2.35:1. Haha, in fact, it looks like it's at least 4:1!
