I asked them a day or two ago, but this would be after whoever is in charge of FUNi's Twitter account would be out of the office for the weekend. I'll ask again Monday.

I guess if FUNimation wants to get the same exclusive feel to these boxes (like they did in Japan), maybe they're just killing production after a few months of being out. But then why wouldn't box 1 be out of print as well?

A user on FUNimation's forum by the name of "wicked86" received an e-mail from Rightstuf! about his order of Dragon Box 2:
wicked86 wrote:Just to add a little to the situation I received a reply from rightstuf about this:

"Dragon Ball Z DVD Dragon Box Z Set 2 has been canceled by the manufacturer, so we are unable to obtain more copies.

Keep an eye on our website; once in a while we are able to obtain discontinued items from other retailers who are reducing inventory or going out of business. It's a long shot, but you might get lucky.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Lisa B ."

So take that for what its worth.
So it seems it was discontinued if this is legit...

I mentioned this to one of my friends, who is in charge of inventory at the best buy she works at, and apparently she had to send back her copies of volume 2, which I found weird. Might be getting picked up by another reseller or something? But yeah, seems like it's discontinued. Good thing I already have mine ::hugs::. Not to mention, it's got the best box art, VEGETA BOX ART :P

It must be legit; I've been waiting 30 days for my order to ship, so yesterday I sent them this pretty frustrated email about me worrying this set being discontinued, and got the following reply from Axelmusic:

''Oh my, this is very bad!

I will personally MAKE SURE this item ships within the next 48 hours. I found a supplier that has stock (it is very expensive for us, but that does not matter, as you have waited so long).

I sincerely apologize for the long wait. This is definitely not up to the usual standards. I kindly ask for your continued patience''

So it shipped today and judging by the ''it is very expensive for us'' part there seem to be very few to no suppliers at all that have it in stock. but MAN, will I be glad when my copy arrives :D

Discontinued? That's not good, thank god I got mine when I did. :D

Though I hope this doesn't lead to the future boxes not getting released, but it shouldn't if the first box is running fine.

Congrats, on your new collector's item. :D

Though, it's unfortunate for people who haven't gotten it yet. Anyone who wants Dragon Box Two should probably hit up their local stores or online re-sellers now while prices are still reasonable.

Well, I hope all seven get to be released. If they do, and then become discontinued, then the American Dragon Boxes will also become a pretty valuable collectible like the japanese one.

Collectible, yes....as much as the JP ones? Not a chance.

I would LOOOOVE to throw my money down for the real Dboxes if they were in English and came with all the JP ones did.

Amazing customer service indeed. A while ago I ordered the Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex Trilogy-Box from Amazon Japan. Three months later the order was still on stand-by. Do you know what they did? They gave me a 300 yen coupon :x

Perhaps they felt a need to cancel it temporally and release it with whatever errors, fixed? I don't see why they would just cancel one random box...

I've thought the same as well. I recall there were some issues with the playback of a certain DVD. I don't exactly remember if it was a disc from the second box, but it probably was...

I never had any issues with Box Two, then again, this was on a PS3 so I don't know.

I haven't had any issues with the discs on the first four Dragon Boxes. Been watching on a PS3, but it's been smooth and awesome the whole way.

I wasn`t implying that they would be worth as much as the japanese ones, only that they would also be valuable collectibles.

And, to me, the japanese ones only have worth as collectible items because, since they don`t have subtitles in a language that I understand, they can`t be used by me to correctly watch and appreciate the show. Unlike the american ones.

If the remaining boxes are being recalled, that does heavily imply there's something wrong with the existing release. Why would they spend time and money on recalling something if it's just a limited edition?

Then again, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with DBox 2. Actually, that's wrong, I can think of one glaring omission...
