5.50 DBZ dvds at wal mart...

Post by Tenken » Fri Jul 01, 2005 11:14 pm

Yeah, just wanted to let you know that wal mart has the last two volumes of dbz, Kid buu - the price of victory and kid buu - a new beginning for 5.50 each! I didn't have them so I picked them up!

Check the 5.50 bins. You may have to search a little. Good luck, heh...

Just be careful, 'cause any DVDs that come in both Edited and Uncut are only going to have the Edited version there (though the "Ultimate Uncut" ones are a likely excepction, since they're a completely different release from the Pioneer discs). Just be careful about the movies.

With the exception of DBZ Movies 4 - 9 and the Pioneer/Kidmark releases, all the dvds should be uncut. Though I don't have the slightest clue why the hell FUNi would release edit-version dvds of Movies 4 - 9, like anyone actually bought them. Thank God they stopped at Movie 10, and it would seem they've decided to keep the "Waves and Rocks" Toei logo (along with a few of the original movie posters for the dvd/vhs covers), so far Movies 1, 5, 9, and 10 are the only 100% Uncut DBZ movies. I don't really mind, but why in the hell would FUNi release edit-version dvds? It's just so, 4-Kids of them.

FUNi released both Edited AND Unedited versions of the movies. I know because I have all unedited versions. Where did you get those that you didn't know? For me it's actually harder to find the edited versions. :?

Funi does sell Edited dvds. Mainly for Walmart, Target, ect. I remember my friend accidentaly bought an edited movie #7 and opened it before he realized it. He couldnt return it because it was opened.

I bought the movie 4,5,6 box set. Only to see it was edited. But heck, I got it for 10 bucks anyways.

Where'd you get yours? I got mine at FYE and it's the Uncut box-set, lucky me :P

Anyway, the edit-version covers I put up there are from amazon, yeah, they're actually selling the edit-version dvds  .

I'm honestly not sure why you're rolling your eyes at that. Amazon sells whatever given to them by the distributors; just like any decent stores would.

I actually remember seeing edited, English only DVDs at my local Blockbuster for sale.

The edited DVDs are for the people that want to pay less. When I got my 4-6 movie VHS box set I was at first going to get the 3 edited movies seperate (didn't realize the box set was coming out that Tuesday(IIRC), it was Friday or Saturday(IIRC)). Anyway, the guy told me, and told me that the Uncut box was cheaper than the edited seperate. Figured what the hell and got them. Point is, I'd buy edited if it saved me a few bucks. Only reason I didn't there is cause I was already saving by getting the box set.

The Wal-Mart near where I live doesn't even carry ANYTHING Dragon Ball related, except for the video games.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Heh. Wal-Mart's where I got my Uncut movie 7 DVD. 8) They didn't have a single edited copy on the entire shelf IIRC.

Here in Canada we have Zellers and you can actually find rarer anime there than Wal-Mart a lot of the times. I actually saw a VHS volume of Outlaw Star there the other week, and it was the uncut, subtitled version too. Very odd. It's also where I got my DVD copy of Avalon. It was definitely nowhere to be seen at my local Wal-Mart.

I bought Tree of Might on DVD from them for 8.99 about a couple of years ago. I need to get another because my shit-ass DVD player ate it (scratched it horribly).

The Pioneer releases of movies 1-3 were completely uncut, and dub-wise are by far the more preferable purchase.

Do you have much luck finding good anime DVDs overall? It seems that finding anime here in Canada is a chore.

Especially the Ultimate Uncut DBZ discs. I have yet to see them for the most part. I did see the first disc at one place, but it was grossly overpriced at $32.99. No way in hell was I going to pay that.

The main problem I have with it is price more than anything. Anime is really expensive here in this country. Finding the better known titles at FutureShop isn't difficult. It's when you want more obscure titles or as you said sometimes uncut stuff that's it's more difficult. We have two comic book stores where I live though that have a lot of stuff anime-wise. But even with them, older and more obscure titles, which tend to be the anime I'm interested in are still hard to come by. And plus you'll often have to pay even more at these stores. So now a lot of my purchasing is done online. Of course for younger people who don't have a credit card, this is often not an option.

Yeah I guess being an anime fan, living in Canada, and not having a credit card, would kinda suck.
