Nope, I filled out the survey on Saturday and haven't received anything (except for the wallpaper). I dunno, maybe it takes a while to get a reply...if I do get one, I'll copy/paste it into this thread.

I used a REAL JAPAN HOUSE address.
= for my exclusive email.

* I asked JAPAN, they called the house to confirm information.

Later.

Well, I remember the FUNi disks had slightly poorer audio, and the image was severely damaged in some cases (usually in the previews). However, as far as content goes, I'd say they're pretty much on par (aside from a few absences in the TV Special).

Obviously the FUNi disks didn't have any real extras (aside from those guys and the rap video they made). But if you don't know any Japanese, it's a real no-brainer to simply get the FUNi DVDs. I remember their initial DVDs even had Zeni you could collect and then mail in for a free T-shirt. Overall, it was a very good release by both FUNimation and Pony Canyon, and that's about all that can really be said concerning GT... :?

ok, so the differences are that funi discs interlaced, and have darker colors?
I assume DBOX gt have about same video as other boxes had, but is it remastered to the same level?

So yeah, would be cool to see HQ screenshots, i got 8 funi discs myself, i suppose i could post screenshots of those.

I don't know if FUNi has darker colors in GT or not, I honestly can't remember. And yeah, the Dragonbox was remastered to remove all the damage from the video (same as the other boxes).

If you throw up some FUNi screencaps, I'll match them with Dragonbox caps and you can compare them yourself. :)

speaking about the colors
I'm honestly very disappointed with the quality of the dbgt box in general
6 months ago I thought it was going to look like something like these screens
http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/dragongt/story/index.html

the reality is that it's exactly the same master as the one funimation used to release their dvd except that they removed all the dirt which was on it.
It wasn't the case with dbz where the colors didn't look like the ones we could see on tv or on some domestic releases. I think they also improved the colors and the luminosity for dbz which they didn't do for dbgt. (were they lazy or what?)

Well let's be clear the quality is the best we can get at the moment but I really think they could have done a better job...

It does look like those screens, it's just that they're shrunken down so you can't see all the nitty-gritty.

But yeah, GT in general doesn't look that great. You can see it with the FUNi disks, and you can see it with the Dragon Boxes. And although I seriously doubt that Pony Canyon and FUNi used the same masters, I will agree that the basic video quality is about the same in both. GT seems to have somewhat washed out colors for some reason, and doesn't come across as being as sharp as DB or DBZ's animation (you can especially see this with the TV Special).

You should also note that Toei seriously fucked up the opening scene from episode 27 and beyond. When they added the new animation, they completely destroyed the original animation retained from episodes 1-26 (which sucks since it's like 90% of the second opening). Just watch the two versions back-to-back and you'll see what I mean.

yea you said it, that's really another negative point ...
Now I just hope one thing. It's that they won't fuck up like this for the movie box and that they will do the same perfect job they did for db and dbz.
rendezvous next year for the answer

I think the movie box will be remastered like the DBZ Dragon Box ones.

Thank God someone noticed this, I thought I was the only one :? I wasn't very pleased, because I give these "minor" things a lot of credit, but it's not really that serious, I'd rather have the openings that way, than having the actual episodes the same way.

I really didnt notice that...gonna have to check it out again! But in an overall rating...I was expecting much worse! The image is good and the sound is great. I enjoyed the extras (whats with that crazy school products commercial?!), although they should have included all the endings without the credits.
Apart from that...it was money well spent :D (considering I even got some zennie lol)
By the way...did costums charge you much money? They ripped me off here in Portugal
ORA SONGOKOU DA!
