Who would win? First appearance Trunks or Fifth Form Cooler?

Wasn't it said Ss Goku and SS Trunks were even? I would say Trunks would win since he would be all up on killing him as fast as he could. trunks wasn't about playing around with people.

^Gohan did say "That's the same Chi dad had that time", but it's never said that they're actually equal.

I'd go with Cooler here...if he were to pull that Supernova outta his ass.

Coola should logically be much stronger than any of the early Super Saiyans.

Was Mecha Frieza more powerful than 5th form Cooler because Trunks handled him with MORE than ease. Just how much stronger could Cooler have been?

If Trunks could slice through a half metal Frieza, he shouldn't have much problem with slicing throughan all organic being if he got close enough....although I don't think Trunks would have lolligagged long enough to give Cooler and chance to transform. He's smart enough to not to sit around and WATCH a transformation.

I doubt it.

Movie 5 seemed to employ some really whacked-out power scaling. I'd peg pre-transformation Coola to be around Mecha Freeza's level, and post-transformation Coola to be...well, a lot stronger than that.

If Goku was able to beat him by getting pissed off, and he was roundabout even with Trunks when we first see him, Trunks is half pissed off at the 'baddies' to begin with, enrage him a bit w/ a sword in his hand I think if he could catch Cooler, he could take him.

Yeah, but Trunks gathered from that scuffle that Goku's strength lived up to it's prestigious reputation. And Goku didn't really imply that Trunks would've been a match for him, even if he had tried his hardest.

Yeah, in Viz, Trunks says, "All the stories were true...no...you're greater than the stories."

And later says, "I have some hope, now that I've seen your strength."

All this implies to me that SSj Goku is more than a little bit stronger than SSj Trunks.

It's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Supernova is all what Cooler has to offer. He can get out.

By the way the fact that Goku said "I sense no malice in your heart, so I knew you where going to stop." immediately proves that Trunks never goes too far unnecessarily.

So with that short fight, beforehand, Trunks thought "Okay let me attack just enough to test Goku." So he didn't really show his own full potential, just Goku's.

I don't see having(in his words) a monkey's ass would be in character for him. More likely the head with the SSJ hair just to show, that he actually beat one. But yeah Final form Cooler >> SSJ Trunks(1st appearance) in my book.

"Soloing" is a slang term used for whenever one character of a particular group is sufficient enough to complete *insert task here*.
It wouldn't apply to this topic, since Trunks doesn't have any other choice but to go at it on his own.

Freeza and his family are fodder to any decent Super Saiyan in the series. Coola in his "Super" form was stronger than Freeza, but then so was Freeza himself after his cyborgification "upgrade." And if that wasn't enough for either of them to defeat Goku, then I doubt Coola would do any better than his brother against Trunks, either.

Coola was so outclassed that his punches didn't even make Super Saiyan Goku flinch. Even if Trunks was somewhat behind Goku (which is, at best, only slightly implied), it can't be by that wide a margin.

I always thought Goku was bit stronger in Movie 5 then he was with his duel with Trunks. I think the battle would go either way, I can see Trunks winning if he can cut him in half like he did with Freeza.

It's Toei; He was a lot stronger than his main-timeline counterpart. He started off as being more powerful than his Yardrat self, then he received a zenkai later on in the movie for good measure on the overkill. And despite that, Coola's strongest attack nearly overpowered him.

He's a little bit stronger, at best. The entire movie is laid out as a sort of alternate to the Freeza fight, and what's more, there's things like Goku being unable to transform at will which would peg him as his Namek-arc self rather than his Trunks-arc self. It's a movie, so the continuity is weird, but the parallel is there.

I've seen you use that argument before, but wouldn't that only work if Cooler knew the exact power of Freeza's 100% final form?
