Is anyone's favourite manga not Dragon Ball?

@Godo: Whats wrong with the art in DB? (Maybe I'm so tired, I'm mis-reading your post...) I think the art's fantastic. And Toriyama draws the most amazing, and easy to follow, fight scenes I've ever seen. Any other Shonen battle manga, I get confused at times. Especially Bleach! I'll just sit there and go, "...What am I looking at?"

Speaking of Bleach, it had great potential. Kubo's first series, Zombiepowder., was pretty sweet. The start of Bleach was similar (great mix of plot, humor and action), but it's entirely a battle manga now. I stopped buying the manga long ago, but I still read the newest VIZ releases at the bookstore now and then, simply because Kubo's characters are so cool and stylish. But yeah, the fights are very repetitive now...

Oh yeah, Hunter x Hunter. I totally forgot about that one. In a lot of ways, it's better than Dragon Ball. Easily one of the greatest Shonen in history.

I expressed myself pretty bad there. What I meant was that I like the art in Dragonball. But sometimes it's sloppy, especially in DBZ. Overall, it has a great quality. It's not like it's worse than in many other manga.
It's hard to be a mangaka and not make mistakes and to check all pages and do every image perfectly.

And yeah, Hunter x Hunter is really good, and captivating. As you say, it's among the best shônen manga out there.

About Bleach, yeah, I agree with you there. I stopped reading it because of the same reasons you mention.

Those people in "general" are kids, from what I can tell.

What I think he means is that they thus shouldn't be taken seriously (at least that's how I interpreted it).
But you can't say that kids that read manga created for kids have no say.
But I may be wrong.

That's the gist of it, but a kid (Who can actually back up what they with a justifiable context) should have a say when they're included in the demography.

And also, yeah DB has a few artwork errors in the manga, but then again, so does just about every other series.

No. Here's the problem, as the person gets older they move on to "better anime/manga", usually saying that the themes and characterization and just about everything else in the series is just plain awful, and that they would never like it, had they not as a child. This is the common belief that every fan is like this and that anyone who isn't is full of "shit".

It is hard for me to say. I love so many manga (Rurôni Kenshin, One Piece, Naruto, Death Note, Eyeshield 21) in addition to Dragon Ball. I hate to choose favorites. In terms of which I think it better written, though, I'd place pretty much all of the aforementioned titles above it.

Uhm... no. I was talking about "the most extreme cases" of this:

a lot of people seem to dislike the mangas that appear to attract the most attention or popularity, such as Naruto, Bleach and Death Note.

Not just, "Why do some people dislike it?" The answer to that would be common sense.

See naturally, I'm simply indifferent to these the way I am with One Piece. My cousin however, is absolutely obsessed with them. Constantly hearing about them, coupled with not seeing what's so great about them every time you try to watch them, slowly turns that indifference into pure hatred. (I tend to be the same way with popular music and TV shows as well. Shoot me.)

Yeah, it's like with Broly. I never used to hate the guy so much, until I stumbled upon sections of fans who worship the ground he stomps on, as well as the video games shoving how awesome he is in our faces, and now I wish they'd never created the loud, obnoxious, Legendary Butt-Munch, Super Saiyan Reject and fucktard scum of the (Dragon Ball) Earth. It just seems to be natural human nature. Hatred by association. I hate Twilight and Robert Pattinson with a passion, but never would've hated them if it hadn't been for the screaming fangirls and the fame he's suddenly gotten (which granted him a role he never would've gotten if not for Twilight in that recent cheap-looking romcom he's in). I liked him in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I want to rip his overrated little head off in Twilight.
