Apparently what some people were predicting will come to pass: Greg Ayers will be lowering his voice a little bit with each progressive transformation. He reveals this to be the case and gives a demonstration of the upcoming voices for Freeza's different forms (including Mecha Freeza) here:

Thanks to Ishtar318 for finding this!
Good see that he's naturally deepening his voice for Freeza's next forms. :P

Well, actually, they're pitching down his second form voice for Freeza's third form. It's so his acting and range isn't hindered by trying to do a deep, monstrous voice.

Does anyone know how long to episode 37? Or has it already been dubed?

It'll air on October 20, I think.

It has been dubbed, just not released yet. Apparently as far as the actual dubbing process is concerned, they're a tad past the point where Goku goes Super Saiyan for the first time.

Having been sick for 8 weeks I've spent a good deal of time lying in bed watching Nicktoons. The new episodes will indeed premiere on the 20th (seems it'll be two a day as well), though I've no idea how far they'll be going.

On the actual nature of the topic, because I don't think anyone else has mentioned this and there was a lot of curiosity and speculation (I mentioned it in the dub thread) - based on the commercial trailers, it doesn't seem Ayers will be lowering his voice, or very significantly, for 2nd form Freeza. No clue about 3rd, he has no speaking lines in the commercials. His final form, however, gets one, speaking to Gokou - "the gloves are coming off this round", and in a significantly deeper and more masculine-sounding voice. I'm greatly looking forward to it, and kinda hoping that the commercials aren't reflecting enough as far as the other forms, and that he might do a little something unique with those performances as well.

Wish I knew if there was a clip available of said trailer for those who haven't heard it. I'm really loving this casting change.

It seems someone posted the new commercial, final form Freeza's line sounds really interesting. While watching, I saw a scene from the Vegeta vs. Freeza fight and it had me looking forward to Saiyan Blood being dubbed.

Thank you SSJOtaku1 for recording this. (In case your part of this forum)

Update: I found some more clips off of youtube and collected them into a .rar file. The other commercial has Freeza's second form, and it sounds amazing.

Holy CRAP that sounded good! Every actor in that clip sounded like they were giving their performances 110%, and now that he's in his final form, Chris Ayers sounds closer to Ryusei Nakao than ever before. BRAVO!

This...is... the single happiest moment of my life. I am so glad that the we are finally getting a proper English Freeza who is basically a carbon copy of Nakao. I feel like weeping.

Saying the performance is a carbon copy of Nakao is a bit of an insult. The man channels Nakao, but he certainly brings a little bit of his own work into Freeza's role. He doesn't copy, he adds to it.

Well, yes I suppose I was being a bit rude there. But, the goal should normally be to be mostly like the original while adding some very slight quirks of your own. I feel that he does that and it is so much better than Youngs Freeza which really wasn't even who Freeza was. As a dubbie I am so glad to finally have a "true" Freeza.

This dub brings me something that resembles joy I think... I want to caress it.

Cool clip, Sean's KameHameHa was very intense, and Ayres Freeza continues to live up to my expectations.

Hm.

The only ones who sounded good in that commercial were Ayres, Clinkenbeard, and Sabat's Piccolo. Schemmel sounded as terrible as ever and something's off about Sabat's Vegeta.

Ayres' Freeza sounds spectacular, though.

Sabat's Vegeta did sound a little like his old Vegeta rather than his Kai one. Sean on the other hand sounded like a strained Nozawa to me, only more manly of course, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Really when I saw the commercial Schemmel sounded almost like a tolerable version of Nozawa to me. They all sounded great especially Ayres though.

You have a point, but hearing that over and over now is overkill. We know he hates Schemmel, but he doesn't need to bash it into our heads in every thread. I think Schemmel is a great VA, and I get offended when someone bashes him.

I don't get offended when someone bashes him, I just don't like it when anybody goes out of their way to give something their stamp of non-approval. It gets VERY tiring after a while.

I absolutely agree. Besides this is a thread to talk about Ayres' Freeza not Schemmel's Goku, so he was in the wrong for bringing Schemmel into it, but anyways rock on both Sean Schemmel & Chris Ayres you guys are the best, and same goes for the rest of the Kai cast.

The more I hear the voices I grew up with, the less I enjoy them. They're funny voices, not characters. Especially anything by Sabat, even his supposed "better" Piccolo. And I actually agree with Penguintruth, that scream was horrendous in the trailer.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Colleen Clinkenbeard? She sounds like stock-kid-voice-number-two.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
