The Ocean Dub Official Fansite UKdb
Hi,
I thought I should share this with as many fans of the series as possible. Where better to start than Daizex. Me and dbzforeverUK have planned and created a Fansite dedicated to 'The Ocean Dub' series of DragonBall Z, and the 'The Blue Water Dub' series of both DragonBall GT and DragonBall.
Basically if you were a child and you grew up with these dubs this site is the right place for you.
dbzforeverUK has been collecting news and information from contacts who work for Ocean Productions. So far dbzforeverUK has got in touch with the man responsible for 'The Ocean Dub' OST from 'Episodes: 108- 276'.
As a website for fans of 'The Ocean Dub' we will also provide news and updates. The website has a Forum also where you can feel free to join and discuss the nostalgia of the dub or just general DragonBall or Toonami.
Just to make it clear I have not created this website as a huge home of Anti-Funimation fans. We welcome all fans of the series to experience this amazing dub, and to respect each others opinions. Any "Dub-Wars" are completly against what we created the site for. If you are a fan of 'The Ocean Dub', 'The Funimation Dub' or if you like your 'Original Japanese' you are welcome to the site and forums.
The main purpose of the site is to have a fanbase that respects all dubs regardless. So if you grew up in the United Kingdom (CNX, Toonami), Canada(Ytv), New Zealand (Cartoon Network) or anywhere else in the world 'The Ocean Dub' aired come and relive your childhood and contribute to the growing fanbase of fans who respect all dubs.

Curently the site is running on a free host and a free domain. If the popularity grows I will upgrade to a proper domain and host. This is just for the time being.

You guys should keep a collection of all interviews and stuff on the subject/with the actors. Also, I'm hoping this site will be as good as Kanzentai information-wise.

From everything I've heard, after there became two dubs (US FUNimation and UK Ocean dub), I haven't been a fan of any of it. HOWEVER, damn do I wish they released DVDs of it because I personally think I'd have nostalgia fever over them.

The site just had a server error; it's fine now. Yes we will be getting information from Ocean Studios as it's released.

Shouldn't it be Canadadb?
Ocean = Canada
America's hat produced those dubs you're so fond of.

So? The Ocean/Blue Water dubs did air in the UK, so UKdb works just as well.

I'm actually looking forward to this. It will be a nice break from all the FUNimation dub based sites out there.

So, wait... You're saying you're going to be uploading episodes of Kai to that site? That kind of thing is not welcome here.dbzforeverUK wrote:Plus this is going to be the site where the Ocean dubbed version of Kai will debut on the internet. As I will be recording it and uploading it on the days it air.

That's why we are doing it there as we all know that it's not allowed here.

Don't worry the site is in it's imperfect stage. Hopefully the perfect version will look really good. I know much about this site because I'm a mod there.Perfect wrote:No offense guys, but that site has an awful layout, and the gfx is pretty bad too. :\

The problem is that it's being linked to and promoted from here.DB_Fan1991 wrote:That's why we are doing it there as we all know that it's not allowed here.

Re: The Ocean Dub Official Fansite UKdb
They honestly didn't mean any harm. They just wanted to bring fans who grew up with the Ocean/Blue Water dubs to the forums. I see nothing wrong with that, and besides the Ocean Kai hasn't even aired yet, and likely won't see a DVD release, so I see no problem with it, but then again this forum is strict with that kind of thing. They're my friends from the UK, and naturally I'm going to stick up for them.TripleRach wrote:The problem is that it's being linked to and promoted from here.DB_Fan1991 wrote:That's why we are doing it there as we all know that it's not allowed here.

Re: The Ocean Dub Official Fansite UKdb
Sorry if we got any misunderstandings. Our main goal above everything is else is to have a community of fans that appretiate all dubs instead of the idiotic fighting. And just people who grew up with this dub. The Ocean Dub is the childhood for many fans in the UK or Canada. I would love for any fans to come and join even if you support Funimation we will treat you no different. I myself have a lot of repect for Funimation as without them we would not have our Ocean Dub. Also their dub is just as good
.

Thanks for the feedback Perfect. We only hatched out of our incubated form a week ago. Nothing is born perfect but we would love to recieve as much feedback as possible. That will help us to achieve "Ultimate Perfection". If we could absorb 2 Artifitial Humans, and become the greatest Ocean Dub website ever I'm sure we would go looking for them.Perfect wrote:No offense guys, but that site has an awful layout, and the gfx is pretty bad too. :\

I'm glad that someone is doing something like this, it gives us UK fans (and some others) an opportunity to get more involved with each other. However, there are some aspects of this idea that I believe you guys are not approaching correctly; such as:
Your intentions are great and the site has a lot of potential and I hope that if you do everything the right way, then I'll be sure to join your community! Good luck!
That would only be doing more harm to the series, fansites are generally for discussion and reflection as opposed to including the main material itself. Uploading the videos of the show will most probably result in lower sales for the series and in consequence may have an effect on future releases.dbzforeverUK wrote:Plus this is going to be the site where the Ocean dubbed version of Kai will debut on the internet. Actions have reactions so don't be quick to judge, you may not know the hardships that people don't speak of.

Your forgetting not everyone has the luxurey of Sky television. We are in a reccesion and Cameron and Clegg are only making things worse, i like to share what i have with others,Is that such a crime? What would Goku do? Share the dub, Or keep it too himself and not show it to anyone, As one user on daizex disapproves of spreading word of a dub. The dub is going to be shown in all English speaking countries in Europe and in Canada. So i dont think a small group of fans are really going to have a negative impact on a dub that is going to have an average audiance of 20,000 plus."Lower sales" Ocean rarely produce there dubs onto dvd ,So there wont be any official release, the closest you will get are my recordings. If you want i could always get permission to upload them? I have Ken Morrison's contact details in my hand.

Who is Ken Morrison? To legally upload episodes, you'd have to have permission from, number one, Toei Animation, and number two, Ocean Productions.
