Ug, yeah. Looking at that blurb, I have enormous doubts about its legitimacy.

However, on the off chance that this is really going to happen, I'd bet money on it just being a promotional chapter or two for Dragon Ball Online. Maybe a one-shot story with some DBO-inspired original characters, or a bit of the background information in manga form. Nothing too exciting or groundbreaking. I think Toriyama's made it pretty clear he's not interested in the pressures of regular syndication anymore.

I was almost going to launch into the sky. Almost.

I'm banking on this being DBO related. This almost makes me want to play it now.

If, by chance, it were an ongoing effort I hope Toriyama can do it on his own terms schedule-wise.

First Masami Kurumada comes back to Saint Seiya with SS: Next Dimension, and now Akira Toriyama (if this proves true) comes back to Dragon Ball? The 80s seem to be coming back in a good way (though I fear Kurumada might shank Toriyama for trying to steal the thunder of his series returning, lol)

I want to think it's true. Rich Johnson has been right before and gotten in some big sources...but there is always pessimism over such things...will he come back? Really? I want it to be true.

And I imagine he will, he'll avoid Weekly Shonen Jump, probably. Maybe like ND, we'll just get a few chapters every year (and if like ND, I would kill for the DB sequel to be in full color).

Rich rarely posts sources.

Speaking as someone who keeps up on comic news and reads his site on a normal basis though...

The majority of the time his information is spot on though.

Rich being the person to say it is enough that I'm not just going 'fake' and moving on, definitely waiting for more info on this one.

Hmmm... I wanna believe it's true, but I'm not putting my hopes up, but as you guys said, there hasn't been any Japanese blogs announcing this.

The only thing we can confirm is that Viz is definitely announcing something big next week, from their tweet, but I doubt that it has anything to do with Dragon Ball. Besides, why would Viz be annoucing it? Wouldn't it have to be from Shueisha first?

I’m taking this with a HUGE pinch of salt … and yet I can’t help but get a little excited and curious.
I’m thinking if this is true it most likely is linked to DBO, or perhaps Heroes.

It's a little early for April Fools.

But on a serious note it's hard to believe any news site or blog that fails to link their sources. Otherwise people like me are going to assume they're making shit up.

It'd be interesting to see, but I'll try to hold off on getting too excited before I hear more news. :P

I don't buy it. I really don't buy it. If anything, perhaps they're confusing this with Toriyama's latest oneshot, and perhaps it might have a Dragon Ball cameo here or there. But have my honest to goodness doubts he'd continue the series for any reason. He just doesn't seem th sort to do that. But on the chance this is for real, I don't expect any more than a one shot chapter, a tankoubon at best. Either way, I'm interested nonetheless.

Lol a "Little Britain" reference? or totally random?
I don't know what to make of this claim, for me DB is over! DB online is fine, but I have no intentions of buying that game anyways, and the thing about DB heroes wasn't that some card game or something? If Toriyama makes a DB manga revolving around them playing card games I'll be so disappointed!

This makes me so tentatively excited.

As jacked as I am for more Dragonball, I'm also afraid that anything new might not live up to the original material -- it's been fifteen years, after all. I guess that's what the new Star Wars did to me. I shouldn't doubt Toriyama, though. Definitely hope this turns out to be accurate.

I wonder what part of the timeline it will go with. Since DBO discarded GT, and DBO DID give us the details of everyone's life after Buu....I can't wait!!!

Lets just say its true and there will be new chapters.......how long will it take to be animated and dubbed and brought to the US?

You wouldn't have to buy it, the game is free.

While Dragon Ball may be over and all the new stuff that has come out in the last few years doesn't have to be regarded as canon, I'm always looking for new DB info to help expand my NEO canon. Just because Toei can't handle writing a decent plot doesn't mean I can't have fun reworking the characters into my series.

I have no idea if this is real or not. I'm excited at the prospect of a new series, but I'm by no means getting my hopes up, like many others. I'll save my fanboy-gasms for a potential confirmation, and if proven false I'll move on with an "oh well".

I was happy for one second but then came back to reality, I don't believe that link.
But somehow even if what that link said actually happened to be real, I still don't believe he'd draw any of it. Probably hire some other artist to do that.

I still have this in my head:

"I think that I probably won't draw any more Dragon Ball manga, so
THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE YOU'RE GOING TO SEE ANYTHING NEW!!!"

They'll certainly make money off of the game's cash shop items. From what I understand, it's the only thing they've been updating recently.

If this rumor happens to be true, I'd expect a release of this manga to coinside with a Japanese release of Dragon Ball Online.

No, there aren't. You don't have to spend money on the game at all, but like with all MMORPGs, there are certain items that can only be bought with real money and I think you can use real money in exchange for Zeni if you are extremely impatient and don't want to earn it the hard way.
