However...am I the only one who isn't too fond of Toriyama's current art style? (Blue Dragon, DBO). I don't think the original Dragonball would look well in that style. It feels more "compact".

I'm taking this with a PILE of salt, but Bleeding Cool seems to be a relatively legit site, and apparently Viz has been tweeting about a really big announcement soon. Take from this what you will.

Even if this is true, the announcement from VIZ can't be related. This wouldn't "change everything".

However, if this turns out to be true I will be incredibly shocked. The series has been over for a long time, and I really thought Toriyama originally didn't even want to go beyond the Freeza arc, which makes total and complete sense. He has no interest in continuing the series, so really if it does come back it will extremely likely not be as good, but I will check it out if true.

No, there aren't. You don't have to spend money on the game at all, but like with all MMORPGs, there are certain items that can only be bought with real money and I think you can use real money in exchange for Zeni if you are extremely impatient and don't want to earn it the hard way.

I will be shocked if this is true. Despite the aforementioned reasons (sources, only announcement, etc.) Toriyama has stated on more then one occasion that he has no interest in continuing to draw Dragon Ball, making this all beyond unlikely. If it is true, then I'm guessing it will be a single one-shot based on DBO.

The majority of the time his information is spot on though.

Rich being the person to say it is enough that I'm not just going 'fake' and moving on, definitely waiting for more info on this one.

That's something I've been thinking. BleedingCool is pretty good at getting crazy inside information about the American comics industry early, the issue being that the site doesn't always post sources, which bugs the shit outta me.

Are...are we talking about the same Akira Toriyama? Because the one I know is terrible when it comes to developing characters ^^; backstories and such are just not his thing. If he were to write anything new, I'd imagine it would be a silly short ala the JUMP Anime Special, or Neko Majin Z, involving a period during the characters' lives that we didn't see (again, like the JUMP Special; it could be during the 10 years between the end of Buu and the end of the series, or something post-end, with Gokou and Uubu visiting their old friends or something). I don't imagine him ever writing an entire new story arc, or going back and developing characters and past-concepts, because that's just not his thing.

Obviously, the anniversary and Kai and everything is just causing a resurgence of popularity with the series, and I wouldn't doubt that it might be true he's got some new Dragonball Manga thing planned...but I can't for the life of me, and honestly wouldn't want it to be, an entire new arc extending the story, which is over and done with. I'd love and welcome some more content like the JUMP Special, where we get to see our favorite characters in action again, but not in a way that it becomes a brand new srs bsns epic storyline after what has been for years a finished story.

I'm not gonna look into too much at the moment. To me, it really doesn't seem likely. Although, I'd love a new series.

Firstly, as VegettoEX said, there's no sources to back it up. Right now, it seems it's just another rumour going around, or at least false information.
Also, making a new Dragon Ball series would be horrid for Toriyama. I'd say it would be too much work for him. He's getting old-ish now.
But, all-in-all, a new series would be great. I'd love to see Dragon Ball becoming immensely popular, and everyone begin to talk bout it socially.
I guess we'll find out soon, whether it is false information, or it's true.

Hmm... Definitely interesting and honestly I'm just hoping it's a manga version of Dragonball Online, which I can imagine it being since it already has a storyline and he'd technically just need to draw it.

However, I know he hated the pressure but if they honestly want him this badly then they'd probably comply to any demands. Plus, he may just do a 40 page chapter ever month or so, you never really know. Though the Viz thing makes me wonder if it'll just be direct-to-book rather than published in any magazines.

Maybe it will be after the Jump special, didn't that ""just happen"" for him? We could see more tarble in the main story line. Perhaps he is doing this to show more of what happened after Buu/the beginning of "DBO". I would love to see new villians and maybe Uub, Trunks, goten will be useful this time around. THe world SHOULD be in their hands at some point since Gohan doesn't fight anymore.
