Did Goku actually leave his family?
So everyone knows Goku's jerk scene where he leaves his family with Oob. However, all we see is them flying off. Do we actually know he's not going home? It never says where they are going. Thoughts?

Goku states to his family, that he is taking Uub back to his home and then immediately afterwards states he will come visit them(his family), so yeah Goku and Uub were headed for the tropical islands in the south.Great Saiyaman I wrote:So everyone knows Goku's jerk scene where he leaves his family with Oob. Maybe taking home to ask Oob's parents? There are a lot possibilties.

Well from the way he worded it, sounds like he will train Uub in his village and then occasionally visit his family.Great Saiyaman I wrote:Maybe taking home to ask Oob's parents? There are a lot possibilties.

Would it matter? He can return to his home in an instant, if he felt like it. It shouldn't matter if he's training on an island, on the Lookout or in the Kaioshin realm. That doesn't mean he's living in that place.Great Saiyaman I wrote:Do we actually know he's not going home?

Lol true.
Though his family would have been 2nd priority, no doubt about it.
Re: Did Goku actually leave his family?
If we're counting Neko Majin for anything, then not too long after leaving, he and Oob were back and living at the Son home on Mt Paozu.

I like that a lot more. Gokuh's abandoned his family too much as it is already. :/

Pretty much yes and we don't know how he long that he went with Ubb. We count Neko Majin, it looks like the characters are bit older then they where at the end of DBZ.

Keep in mind that at the beginning of the epilogue we got a bit of dialogue between Goku and Bulma about how he never sees them. Goku's defence was that he'd seen them only five years ago.
So yeah, I think any sweetness in Goku's promise to visit his family now and again is kinda kneecapped by his screwy concept of time.

Re: Did Goku actually leave his family?
Looking at the fact that Goku completely forgot to even meet Bulma and Vegeta after the Majin Buu ordeal, I would say yes.
He probably didn't meet his family again until he was finished with training with Oob.
He is an easily distracted character after all.

Yeah, that's true. And when Bulma complained about him not visiting them, he said he visited her five years ago in between trips. So it's likely he was mostly training with Oob at his village, and then when he felt like it, decided to pop in on his family for half an hour and then bugger off back for some more training. I really hate Goku in the Boo arc; he turned into such a dick.Godo wrote:Looking at the fact that Goku completely forgot to even meet Bulma and Vegeta after the Majin Buu ordeal, I would say yes.

You're all trying so hard to soften the blow. Why are you surprised? Having a family is something that just sort of happened to Goku. While he does care about them, getting stronger is quite often his top priority.

I guess people just think that, even if Goku doesn't love his wife (let's face it, he doesn't), he has a responsibility to be there for his children. He abandoned that in favour of training some stranger Gohan-clone village kid.penguintruth wrote:You're all trying so hard to soften the blow. Why are you surprised? But meh. Chi-Chi should've known what she was getting into when she married that brain-dead kung-fu bastard who didn't know what marriage was. And she should've known better than to have seduced Goku and then bear two children by him.

The Son family should be on the Jerry Springer Show.

Re: Did Goku actually leave his family?
Final Thought: Our guests here today have major issues. The man insists on getting stronger and leaving his family to do so. He may love them it's just that he loves to fight, so maybe if you love fighting then you shouldn't get married. Til next time take care of yourself and each other.

Re: Did Goku actually leave his family?
It's not like he is dead or in another universe. He is on the same planet, it's not like half of his friends couldn't make it there in like 7 seconds.
Re: Did Goku actually leave his family?
This makes me wonder(NOT a good thing): was Oob's only purpose to end the series? I mean, his whole deal was strange, if anything the whole thing DOES prove that Goku's a selfish man.
