Dragon Box Z Movies still not out...

Post by NUDEoctopus » Sat Nov 06, 2010 10:20 pm

Do you think maybe FUNi is redubbing the movies for the Dragon Box? I know it seems unlikely, but after playing a bunch of RB2 (which featured a lot of movie characers) I got to thinking that maybe they'd want to re-do the movies to fix the important character voices, like Gohan and Bulma. That way, they could market the Dragon Box Z Movies for both the original series and Kai. Like I said, unlikely. But a man can dream...

They bought the masters for the Japanese fanbase; the inclusion of any dub of any kind on the series proper DBOX was an afterthought. I doubt they're dubbing anything for them. But FUNimation can surprise you.

I figured they'd redub the DB movies, but if they did ALL of them, well, that would be tits.

They are only redubbing Broli. He's popular with the fans, and dialogue like his needs it.

No but really, it'd be cool if they redubbed it. I could wath it with my dubbie friend without cringing the whole way.

That's a good theory, especially since you mentioned Kai. Its current popularity could bolster DBZ movie sales. It would depend on FUNi having time to redub the movies; they might have their hands full with Kai, which itself requires various versions of dialogue for the home releases and the TV edits.
As primarily a sub fan, a redub wouldn't make or break a movie Dragon Box for me, but it would be welcome.
I can see their parachutes.

I very much doubt it. Their primary dubbing efforts are going into next-gen DBZ, Kai. We're not even sure they've redubbed DB Movie 1 for that release. I don't think they're going to redub the movies.

Some of the movies don't even really need complete redubs.

Gohan? >.>;; Sure, as long as it isn't the little girl that's voicing him now.

Clinkenbeard's Gohan is a huge improvement on Naldony's.

Absolutely and much agreed.

I think they should include the old Pioneer uncut dubs for movies 1-3 as audio tracks if they release Dragon Box: The Movies.

I don't want to come off as a jerk, but when are people going to give up on the whole "redubbing" thing? They're doing a faithful dub... or close to it, for Kai. They are done putting work into DBZ. They haven't dubbed DBZ since 2005 (I believe), and have had two releases afterward in which they haven't significantly changed any lines for the series. The purpose of the "redub" of the Season Sets was to fix up the horrific voice acting done in the Freeza arc. If FUNimation is doing a "faithful" dub of Kai, why do people still think they'd do it for DBZ? I honestly believe that work-wise, they are finished with DB/Z/GT/the movies. They are coming out with releases yes, but as far as script-writing and voicing, they're done, ESPECIALLY since it's a DVD/Blu-ray only thing. Kai is put on TV as well and therefore that will get the most attention.

I think that the movies might be announced to coincide with the next Dragon Box Z release actually. If you notice, they have about three releases happening at the same time. With the Season Sets, they started off with DBZ, then the movies along with the Season Sets, then GT so the three started coming out together. They waited until GT was finished until they started releasing Dragon Ball. Now that the Season Sets and steel box movies are done, they moved onto Dragon Ball Season Sets, Dragon Box Z, and Kai. Now the Dragon Ball Season Sets are done, so I believe that we'll hear the announcement about the movies being released soon so that the three releases will now be Dragon Box Z, Kai, and the Dragon Box movies. Did I make any sense there? lol

Redubbing the movies and specials would be an atrocity with the Kai cast. I was up for it before, but they just haven't been up there in top performance quality. I still haven't heard anything that the old Funi VAs couldn't have done with the Kai scripts.

Sure you have. New Bulma has range beyond screaming, Linda Young could never sound intimidating, etc.

That's actually what I expect them to do  Now let's hope the English OST for the movies is included!

Christ! Only 4 Dragonboxes have been released, FUNi isn't going to release the movies yet, maybe after the release of the 7th Box.

Given the placing of the movies in comparison with the DBOX, there's no reason that comes to mind why movies 1-4 aren't out, other than "HUGE BOX WITH ALL OF THEM" which I would kind of hate, really.

Aside from a few obvious, grossly-miscasted regular characters, the same as from the series (Bulma, Freeza, Kaio, etc), I've never had much of a problem with the casting for the movies. Just like the series, the biggest problem has been the scripting and direction. Both of which have each been brought a MAJOR step up with Kai.

So suffice to say, were the movies re-dubbed with the "Kai treatment" I would finally be able and willing to watch ALL of them in English, rather than just a certain one or two, and would be a happy camper.

'Course, I'd be happy with just the two TV specials getting re-dubbed. Dende knows they need it far more than anything else.

If they didn't do it with the series, so they're not doing it with the movies either. Not trying to be derogatory, just stating the facts as they are.
