DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai\Vortex)
Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai) Edits!
Expect Yajirobe's nose picking to be cut next episode. The CW didn't let it fly on Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's either.

I wonder how they'll do it. Back in the day, they digitally shortened his finger so that it looked like he was scratching under his nose.

Fucking hell the more I hear about these edits the more I am just utterly flabbergasted. "Well, this is as absurd as it gets," I always say. Yet time and time again I am proven wrong. No picking your nose? That's. Fucking. Crazy.

It teaches bad hygiene to your kids, obviously. Why they're learning hygiene from Dragon Ball? I think gmster said that there's a possibility of Yajirobe's nose picking being censored, because a similar thing happened in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.Innagadadavida wrote:Fucking hell the more I hear about these edits the more I am just utterly flabbergasted. Not to mention the original DBZ dub.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I think gmster said that there's a possibility of Yajirobe's nose picking being censored, because a similar thing happened in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.Innagadadavida wrote:Fucking hell the more I hear about these edits the more I am just utterly flabbergasted. Today, when they went to pick up the bodies while "Over the Star" played, they didn't actually show any of the bodies. They walked out of the ship, showed Bulma standing as the song started, then it skipped to them getting back in the ship.

It sounded to me that Over The Star was sped up to compensate the removal of the scenes with the bodies being loaded into the coffins. Reminds me of what some radio stations do to songs to make more advertising time.
Yajirobe's nose picking was indeed cut. His hand was just still. He still flicked a booger that appeared in between his fingers out of nowhere.
Mr.Popo's blue was all over the place. The editors can't seem to decide what shade to use.
Namek arc officially starts next week.

I feel bad for kids these days. Back in the day of 80's and 90's cartoons were not nearly as censored. Especially nose-picking, that takes the cake. Even the uncensored/uncut DB Kai of today is still tamed down compared to DBZ. It ruined the Makankosappo scene for me when they gave Goku a bruise and removed all of the blood.
Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai) Edits!
Uh, they edited the nose-picking back in the 90s dub of DBZ too. Also I think you're doing some selective remembering if you think the 80s and 90s didn't have its fair share of ridiculous editing and censoring... It just depends on the company in charge. For example the DC cartoons like Batman and Superman got away with much more than the Marvel Comics cartoons could simply because the people making them or the networks they were on were less squeamish. Spider-Man wasn't even allowed to punch people, and their death euphemisms were much worse than even the original Saban days of DBZ.Deimos wrote:I feel bad for kids these days. Yeah! You people think Spiderman started out shooting webs out of his arms? The naivety is killing me.

Hey, that's not fair, Chris Sabat had nothing to do with the censorship.Zep wrote:the original Sabat days of DBZ.

Hehe, that explains it. One of my other favorite shows were Batman the Animated Series and Gargoyles. And looking back, those shows were pretty dark for cartoons. That's what I was remembering. It looks like I was wrong about other shows. I didn't watch Spiderman.Zep wrote:Uh, they edited the nose-picking back in the 90s dub of DBZ too. It's good to know I'm not the only one who sometimes confuses "Saban" with "Sabat".Zep wrote:Damn, I knew I had written something wrong in that post *fixes*.ThunderPX wrote:Hey, that's not fair, Chris Sabat had nothing to do with the censorship.Zep wrote:the original Sabat days of DBZ.

Yeah, Spiderman never punched anyone, it was always jumpkicks. Everyone, even common everyday punks were handling laser pistols and stuff. People that kill like Mobius, Carnage and Punisher were either changed or given lame reasons/excuses for never killing anyone... etc etc etc
Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai) Edits!
Spider-man was so well written it generally turned out pretty good regardless of all the hoop-jumping, though.
Though they should've refrained from introducing Morbius if they couldn't make him do anything more interesting than sucking "plasma" through his hands.

Proof of hypocrisy in the art of censoring. For the last few Saturdays, all of the dubbed episodes of 5D's I've seen have shown explicit punches to the gut, a main character getting jumped ending with getting knocked unconscious by getting hit with a metal pole, and getting jumped AGAIN but not before bussing a few guys in the chops. Yes, explicit street violence in an edited YGO dub whereas the original series dub went so far as to remove a motivational punch from one friend to another.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I think gmster said that there's a possibility of Yajirobe's nose picking being censored, because a similar thing happened in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.Innagadadavida wrote:Fucking hell the more I hear about these edits the more I am just utterly flabbergasted. Really? I assume that all happened in the second season, since I stopped watching after season 1.NeoKING wrote: Proof of hypocrisy in the art of censoring.
