They're going in a different direction with their casting for DB-related things now. I welcome it.
It's a poor decision to replace the main character when the one the fans are used to is out there ready for action. I do not welcome it.

You do realize that that petition is like, 99.89% pointless, right? It's coming out in a month. I'm sure it's already dubbed, or at least the majority of it already is.

All of the bitching over the dub is pointless anyways. You still have two other Gokus in the other movies. If you're asking for consistency, too late. It's been inconsistent for years now.

The real confirmation here is that, this movie is finally getting an uncut English release for the first time ever. It's basically the last piece of DB to not receive an uncut release. It took so long, that two more animated specials came out while we were waiting for it!

Just be glad we're finally getting it, take it as a weird little nugget of info that it has yet another dub cast, making it three sets of voices for just four short movies, and stop taking it so damn serious.

Ps. I signed a douche-bag sig, because it made me lol. Yes I'm an ass. Or just "fuck."

To make you realize how dumb this petition was, and how stupid you're looking by keeping it running and linking to it.

Didn't seem to work, though. Shame.

(also, I resent being called a douche. I happen to be an ass. Please get it right in the future)

Maybe this means that they will eventually get around to dubbing Dragon Ball with the new Kai cast. Bulma defiantly needs it.

Sure. I signed because:

1. Internet petitions are a complete joke and have never changed anything.

2. This is like the fifth actress to voice Kid Goku for FUNimation so I don't see why this time it's inexcusable when it was perfectly fine the first three times they recast him.

3. You have no idea how Collen Clinkenbeard sounds in the role, and are doing the internet equivalent of throwing a tantrum when for all you know Clinkenbeard could end up doing a thousand times better than Nadolny ever did in the role.

4. Because it made me laugh.

I signed, but not to be a douchenugget.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

At first I was thinking man, that kinda sucks for those dub fans out there because now, the 4 DragonBall movies will have 3 different Goku voices. But if they re-dub the rest of the DB movies, it shouldn't be that bad... right? Then they'd have the same Goku in each (DB) movie. And if your argument is that now he will have a different voice in the movies than in the series, sometimes when a TV series is turned into a movie, there are some changes to the voice cast. Just look at "A Goofy Movie". Goofy's son, Max has a totally different voice than in the series.

Eh, maybe I just try to look at the bright side of things. ::shrugs::

I highly doubt this. You hear very few complaints, if any, about the dub for the original Dragon Ball series.

Even my own complaints are pretty minor.

Your subtitled Dragon Ball Z DVDs beg to differ.

Look, I know the dub has already been recorded. And I am well aware that nothing will come of this petition. I just want FUNimation to know that they made a bad decision to recast Goku after they had already finalized the role in the TV series.

Just going to say, for future reference, that stuff that happens on other websites doesn't need to get dragged back here.

In what way does bulma need it?
I always thought that Vollmer's voice for Bulma was very grating. Now that I have head Rial's smooth and natural sounding voice I just don't want to go back. Please, don't make me go back. :(

Hey, remember when Stephanie Naldony was Goku in DB movies 2 and 3?

Me neither.
I agree, and which is why I've always hated her as Goku and Gohan she was downright horrid. She was at best a very on the edge decent Goku.
I honestly don't get why people like "bad" acting..

Maybe they'll redub dragonball when they release it in Dragon Box format, well one can dream anyway.
I'm surprised they didn't keep Don from Kai as the Narrator.. He's awesome!

I am glad that this movie is FINALLY getting an uncut dub. Concerning petitioning for Stephanie Nadolny back, it's just not going to work. Plenty of DBZ fans complained about Colleen Clinkenbeard replacing her as Gohan for Kai and FUNimation ignored it, so how does this really differ enough to make a difference? Hell, even fans of Linda Young have been complaining about her being replaced by Chris Ayres as Freeza for Kai just as vocally, if not even even more vocally, but FUNimation is not listening to what they consider "minor complaints." Like people have said, the movie is already recorded and I bet the DVDs are already being manufactured as we speak.

I personally don't mind the cast changes that much, although I did really like Stephanie Nadolny as Goku. I just hope that Colleen doesn't make Goku sound EXACTLY like Luffy, because that would really bug me to no end. I understand that Goku and Luffy are similar characters, but that doesn't mean that they should have the exact same voice actress. You don't see the Japanese cast of One Piece using Masako Nozawa as Luffy, but rather Mayumi Tanaka (Japanese voice of Krillin), because as lead characters Luffy and Goku need to sound different enough from each other.

I am curious if this means that Movie 2 ("Sleeping Princess In Devil's Castle") and Movie 3 ("Mystical Adventure") will also be redubbed. Those two movies need it, especially Movie 2 since that was the very first thing FUNimation dubbed with their In-House Texas cast, and let's face it, it shows....Movie 4 ("Path To Power"), though, has a perfectly good dub as it is and I'd rather that dub be untouched, although they may re-record Goku, Bulma, Oolong and Paur for consistency reasons with the 4 Movies.

I find it interesting that after all these years, Movie 1 is still the only one of the original DB movies to not have its original Japanese title intact in the English release. Shame, too, because unlike the Z Movie titles (which in the Japanese version just had random descriptions that could probably apply to 5 other movies), the DB movie names always sounded pretty good to me. "The Legend of Shenlong/Shenron" always felt like a better title than "Curse of the Blood Rubies".

It's interesting watching all this "ZOMG RECAST NUOH!!!!!" stuff from another perspective after all of these years.

I really did look silly back then.
