Curse of the Blood Rubies WILL Have a New Dub--CONFIRMED

So happy this is going to be uncut and redubbed. I have it pre-ordered and is the last movie I need to complete my Dragon Ball / Z movie collection.

I have never watched this movie before, so I'm pretty excited about this release. I'm mainly getting this for the Japanese version, but I'm curious as to how the new cast will sound in the dub, since I've only watched clips of the FUNi dub of Kai.

The only original FUNi dub voice actor that I can honestly say I'm going to miss is Brice Armstrong, but hey, change is good, right? I'm positively curious about the new FUNi dub cast that will be in this movie. I'm a little unsure of Clinkenbeard as Goku, but I won't form an opinion of her until I actually hear the voice coming from Goku. I'm staying optimistic about her though.

Unfortunately, I can't get this on release day, but I'll definitely get this as soon as I can after it releases.

Man, good thing I didn't start getting into DBZ DVD's untill 2007, or else I would've waited YEARS for everything like you guys did.

Jesus we're already to 7 pages. I know have witnessed people literally coming out of the woodwork. I never knew there was such a love for a voice that when used on another character is criticized. It's really sad that such joyous news of this movie finally getting an uncut and hopefully accurate dub has turned to so much hate.

I always liked Nadolny as kid Goku in comparison to the other VA's from the movies, but I can't wait to see what Clickenbeard does.

And for the record, I have attempted to watch Devil's Castle at least 5 times. I've fallen asleep every time. Maybe its the voice acting, maybe the movie just stinks. I'm guessing its both.

It's cute that you think that Stephanie Naldony is anywhere near as iconic in that role as anybody in the Japanese cast.

That cast always come back for video games and commercials. I doubt the decision was hard, or money was a problem.

The only actors who would "require more pay" are the ones that had bit parts twenty years ago.

I imagine Kappei Yamaguchi wouldn't be that much cheaper to get. You guys watch other anime outside of DB, right? The guy's huge.

A good example is the situation in Mexico. RIght now, they're planning to dub Kai with a new cast, and not the original. This is because most of them are already established in the industry, and require larger pay.

We also saw this happen for Futurama, but they eventually listened to the fans.

What I actually heard happen was the entire cast refused to work at cut pay. So, the studio said they'd just replace them and move on. So, the actors just bit the bullet and took the lower pay.

FUNimation does a good job in listening to the fans. They listened when we wanted a new Freeza, they listened when we wanted the Dragon Boxes, they listened when subtitled bilingual DVDs were wanted. I know when it is feasible, FUNimation will do everything they can to give the majority what they want. And I believe the majority of dub fans want their main character in tact. That is the reason for my outspoken retaliation, despite how late it is, it was reaction to news one could have never known in the first place. I know I'm sacrificing respect from my peers, I know it's futile, I know its silly. But I also know what I want, I have the right to say it, and dammit FUNimation is going to hear it.

And in under 24hrs I have almost 200 people who agree with me.

While people may not agree with your view, I really don't think it's anything major enough for you to lose their respect. If that's the case, they're being far more immature about the matter than they're claiming you to be. You have every right to feel the way you do about this. It may be too late to do any good, but hey, if you want to try go for it.

As for me, I care more about consistency than I do about the actual voice. I think if they redo all the movies (or maybe someday DB itself?) with the same actress, it will make more sense. Then again, I'm curious to see how Clinkenbeard will handle the role. Either way, I can be perfectly happy with the subbed version.
