What i want this game to have is both Kid Goku (DB) and Kid Goku (GT) in it. =p So then the story could flow right from Dragonball through to GT.

Indeed, the cutscenes look incredible. I am SO in love with this game, and I haven't even played it yet. I haven't been this hyped even wth Budokai 3 (an I looooved Budokai 3).

Nappa and Gokou (heck everyone) looks exactly like in the anime. The expressions on thier faces are awesome.

Dear people of Spike,

will you marry a Greek Graphic Artist who had grown out of DBZ until the Budokai's came out?

Sincerely in love,
Nikolaos Giannoutsos

I completly agree. I can't wait for this game. I wasn't even this excited about DBZ Budokai 3. This game is going to be great! :D

The cutscences look awesome. I only hope you can do some story from DB (atleast starting from Kamesen'nin's training).

Wow this does look good,
it seems very "true to the series".
And since it seems to be all in-game footage we can also expect this quality for the "what if" stories.
I now have 2 games I can't wait for,
the other being Hitman Blood Money and that one seems to be delayed.
So now there will be 2 games that will eat up my social time while I should be studying.

I just noticed, the Goku in those pictures doesn't have the Kame symbol or Kame-sama symbol. They keep forgetting those.

Kami-sama, for one. And two, it seems quite true that these companies aren't putting the appropriate symbols on his gi. They could have even put the self-referential symbol he adapts too, later in the series.
Then again, I think he gi' looks far better without symbols, so it's alright by me.

Thank the Gods we have cutscenes again. I know we say this every time, but this seems wipe all of the previous games off of the face of the Earth.

And seemingly, even Sparking! (when referenced from the Japanese point of view) is seen as part of the Budokai series. So how is that?

The decision for giving Sparking!'s US version a "Budokai" name is an Atari decision, probably to keep some type of continuity in the games and putting "Tenkaichi" after "Budokai" is likly symbolizing that Sparking! truly will be the last DBZ game for the PS2. Back on topic, the cut-scenes we've seen so far; pure beautiful, though let's hope we don't get any ridiculous glitches or mechanic-clones of the fighters since this game has been in production for Less than a Year. Using all new animated cut scenes is quite surprising IMO, merly because of the time it's likley taken to do all these cut-scenes that will be in the game. For Budokai 1 it took roughly 2 years to complete, however like I've said Sparking! has only had less than a year of production. I'm kinda fearing that because of all the attention on the cut-scenes, we may get clone-fighters machincs-wise like in the first 2 Budokais and Sagas, with the exception of 2 death moves and an ultimate per character of course (Shoot, I mean 60 fighters, it'd take quite a while to make each one individually unique in gameplay). I don't know, maybe they should of just used cut-scenes from the Dragonbox, that'd certainly be a very nice treat and save time for the actual gameplay work, I just have a weird feeling, hopefully there won't be any bad side-effects because of the work on the cut-scenes, all new game engine built from the ground up, and the over-all 60 characters.

Also, what about the RPG styled Dragon Universe mode, will the story mode be pure cut-scenes with no world flying?

This probably isn't the case but for all we know the cutscenes may already be done and they're just showing us old developmental-stage footage.

But like I said, I'm probably wrong.

There's the possibility that seperate teams are working on the in-game characters and the cutscenes, no?

I remember Bandai's press release actually called Sparking! the fourth game in their DBZ PS2 series, even though it's not necessarily a sequel. I mean, the games were just named "Dragon Ball Z" over there, so it just goes:

Dragon Ball Z -> Dragon Ball Z 2 -> Dragon Ball Z 3 -> Dragon Ball Z Sparking!

The closest comparison I can think of is perhaps that Super Mario Bros. 1-3 were followed up with Super Mario World, but even that's not quite the same.

A Story Mode for the Original Dragon Ball would be what I want, I think thats the reason why Master Roshi wont probably be playable, unless they give a Story Mode of the second movie, as he didn't had that many battles.

Actually, Super Mario World was also called Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan

Well he is an enemy for a few others in the Budokai tournaments,
so they could still put him in,
though he might not have an own storyline.

Speculation aside I do hope he is in.

So far the ONLY original character concepts in the PS2 DBZ games we've gotten have been Cellin/Kurel (Cell with Krillin wholey absorbed) from Budokai 1, and the Yardratean fighter, Soba from Sagas. Perhaps we will get an original character, it's happened before.
