How dare they replace Nozawa, why I....wait what? Nevermind.

Uh yeah so uncut movie 1 finally, good times. Something new to pick up will certainly take priority over chopped up Z and purrty Z.

Anyone that is holding off on getting Movie 1 and waiting for that new boxset to see if the other 3 are getting redubbed. You can buy Movie 1 separate because the other 3 are going to be the dubs we already know. My source is the front page of the main site.

If this set really *is* Funimation's own Remastering, I ain't touching it with a 10-foot-pole.

Unless it was from the Dragon Box masters. But they would say something if it WAS Dragon Box, right?
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

You didn't like the movie remastering? I thought it was pretty spot on.

The movie remastering for the later movies (not 8 and 10) was great since they reduced the DVNRing (though the film damage is more noticeable on Blu-Ray) but it was the darker colours that ruined it for me.

Unlike with the Z series, FUNi's "remastering" process actually did good by the Z movies. So long as these DB movies end up looking similar, I'll gladly snatch them up. Lord knows it'll still look leagues better than how they currently do.

Any word on whether the other three films in the upcoming set will be remastered as well? That would be an instant sale for me.

Why the quotation marks? It's not as if it's not actual remastering, and you've admitted yourself that the process used on the movies and Dragon Ball looks good. Even what they did to the Z series was actual remastering, although I can see applying quotation marks there to deride it.

I've since updated the update on the main page thanks to Marc, but yeah -- all will be "remastered", the other movies will retain their prior dubs, and the set will be spread across two discs.

For the record, on "Dragon Box: The Movies", the first disc was DB movies 1-3, so it's certainly not a straight port of that, or anything.

Additionally, I don't speak for Kaboom, but I continue to place the word "remastered" in quotes with regard to FUNimation for combinations of the following reasons:
 • Past atrocities, for sure
 • Inconsistent processes in the past, which lead us to speculate about the extent of said remastering until we actually see it in person
 • The fact that they splash the darn word across the packaging, themselves, so I'm just literally quoting them!

Agh, I was afraid of this. I loved Naldony's portrayal of Kid Goku; not only will this introduce mass inconsistency with the other movies and the entire original series, but now if I want to watch it in English I have to listen to that annoying shriek of a voice that they've been using for Gohan in the Kai dub. Why couldn't they have kept Naldony just for Kid Goku? It's gonna bug the hell out of me.

Looks like I'll be watching this one in Japanese. Buh.

But, again, Nadolny was only Goku in the 10th anniversary movie. The rest of the movies had Ceyli Degadillo as Goku, so there would have been an inconsistency even if they had used Nadolny!

Well yeah, I'm aware of that; I'm mainly irked about the inconsistency with the "modern" Dragon Ball dub--that is, the cast used throughout the entirety of the original series, which is undoubtedly the place where you'll gain an appreciation (or lack thereof) for the voice cast. It's why for the longest time I've resorted to the Japanese voices--for the most part, those will remain consistent when other dubs don't. There's a certain amount of comfort for me in that.

Actually, why aren't they redubbing the other movies? The voice acting in them was pretty bad.

Fair enough, especially on the second point and third point. I guess it's just one of those things I just find condescending for condescending's sake, now that the orange brick releases are done at least. It's also a bit misleading, as I'm sure a more than a few people have fallen under the impression that Funimation's process isn't actually remastering, when the fact is, inconsistent quality aside, it is.

But, oh well. It's not really relevant to this topic.

There's plenty of time to actually re-record the films. They could've even just delayed the release, if they actually wanted to. I think this is one of those signs of FUNimation simply not giving a damn about Dragon Ball with out that last letter of the alphabet, at least in terms of consistency.

I'm still amazed that there are people that are annoyed by Clinkenbeard. Nadolny's the one with the annoying voice! Sure, I've heard worse "cartoon voices," but you couldn't pay me to listen to Nadolny's Goku or Gohan.

Personally I thought Nadolny`s Goku was far better than her Gohan. What I find ironic is both Nozawa and Nadolny played kid Goku and Gohan, lol.

I find Nadolny's voice annoying too, especially the laughing and screams so I'm glad they recasted Kid Goku as well, hopefully Clinkenbeard puts some variation to the voice different to Gohan's.

Well, someone asked Colleen about how her Goku would differ from Gohan and Luffy on her Facebook, and her reply was simply "Gohan's voice, Luffy's attitude?"

I'm excited for this, since I've never watched this movie (I had an old fansubbed version of it ages ago once...but I fell asleep at my computer while watching it and then lost it (I think) XD;).

I'm surprised so many of you are complaining, considering I figure most of us will be watching with the Japanese audio track anyway.

Alas, exactly what I didn't want. Oh well, for fans of her Gohan voice it'll be quite a treat. But this dub is officially just a curiosity for me now.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
