Questions for those who have 2 different versions of B3/PS2
Do you think it's worth getting a Japanese version and an English version of the game, or let's say Sparking!, thats coming out later this year?
And how about a US version of PS2 and a JPN version of PS2?
Are there any more cost efficient ways on playing Japanese games on a PS2? I've heard about this swap-disk that you guys talk about, but I don't understand it. Can you also explain that?
I was just wondering because I was planning on buying DBZ Sparking! and a JPN PS2 (a slim WHITE PS2 btw, it looks pretty cool), so I can play that and other cool looking games that are or will be on the market (such as some Naruto games, but thats another topic).

Chances are, if someone's gone to the lengths of purchasing a JP PS2 and the JP versions of any games, they indeed think it's "worth it."
Case in point, me. I can afford it, I'd prefer only being able to somewhat read the text and 100% enjoy the voices and experience (rather than being able to fully read it and MUCH LESS enjoy the voices and experience)... and that pretty much solidifies my decisions.
It's all in how bad you want it.

EX, wouldn't the PAL version of Budokai 1 and the "Collectors' Edition" version of Budokai 3 be more preferable over the Japanese versions? I mean I'd understand getting the Japanese version of Budokai 2 since the PAL Gamecube version is the only non-Japanese version with the Japanese cast, but why get the Japanese versions of Budokai 1 and 3 if there's perfectly good English versions with the Japanese cast on both those versions? I personally only have interest in the NA versions merly because I live here in the US and like the games to be English translated, though I'd gladly trade my Budokais 1 and 3 for the PAL Budokai 1 and Collectors' Budokai 3.VegettoEX wrote:Chanses are, if someone's gone to the lengths of purchasing a JP PS2 and the JP versions of any games, they indeed think it's "worth it."

And an off topic question (since starting a thread on this isn't really neccessary), will Europe and/or Japan be getting a version of the Sagas game? Considering Sagas may be an NA only release, I get to show off my collection of having all the DBZ PS2 games, even if they are the NA versions, they're still all the games, and Sparking! (Budokai Tenkaichi) is next.

If you're capable of playing the PAL games, and don't mind some of Atari's influence on them (some dub spellings, weird translations [wasn't there some infamous Vegeta quote in DBZ1?], etc.)... yes... go with the PAL versions. For me, it's all about being a total dork and owning the Japanese version.Conan the SSJ wrote:EX, wouldn't the PAL version of Budokai 1 and the "Collectors' Edition" version of Budokai 3 be more preferable over the Japanese versions? He says it when he has his arm broken by 18... I think he also says it at some point during the Cell games... >_>
Yeh Vegeta says it a second time just after seeing Trunks being killed by Cell near the end of the Cell games. It was kinda funny the first time but sort of anoying after. Personally I woulod go with the PAL versions, werid dub changes aside you get the excellent Japanese dub with text you can understand. Esspecially with Budokai 3 you get both the Japanese and the English dub with the PAL version, just incase you get sick of the Japanese voices, however unlikely that may be.

What people gotta remember about the PAL Budokai 3 is that they're two different versions. The original EU released version that like Budokai 2, was a straight copy of the NA Budokai 3. And then there's the improved upon "Collectors' Edition". They're the same exact games but just two different versions, the "Collectors' Edition" of course containing added special effects here and there, apparent better frame rate on a couple fighting levels, Piccolo Daimao as an alternate skin for Piccolo, two more alternate skins for Goku and Trunks, a special Level 99 Vegeta, a few extra Baba mini-movies, and of course the free choice to choose between the FUNi or Japanese cast. I wouldn't pay $50 for the exact same game that took 6 months to acheive 100% unlocking, but I would trade my NA version for it if the NA version's PS2 memory card data works with the "Collectors' Edition", I really have no desire to spend another half-a year going in and out of Dragon Arena praying for the right break-in.SSJsnake wrote:Yeh Vegeta says it a second time just after seeing Trunks being killed by Cell near the end of the Cell games. A small side note, I find it kind of ironic that only Europe released the "Collectors' Edition", maybe a way for them to have a "game" to sell since the US and Canada had gotten Sagas.
