It's his name. Is it that hard to comprehend he has a last name?

Failing to see what the problem is, here.

Unless, of course, all you're trying to do is just whine and pick a fight, in which case I'd be more than happy to add a formal warning to your account.

Not going to lie, although I love that Sean said Son Goku; if his last name is Son, then should he say Goku Son?

Actually that probably sounded completely asinine, but still that's how dubs do it. We don't hear Uzumaki Naruto, or Kurosaki Ichigo. We hear the 1st name then the last name. No other dub of an anime follows the pattern that Kai has just created (except one piece: Monkey D. Luffy).

Heck, stupid dragonball dubbies will be like "wait Son is his first name and Goku is his last? So is Gohan's last name Goku?"

Everyone settle down, I have an explanation that will please everyone. Goku did not say "Son Goku" he said "Soy Goku!". FUNi showed us Goku has some latino flavor. See don't you all feel better?

This phrase ran out of style back in 1999. Let's instead refer to said folks as what they really are: those who haven't yet learned something, and are empty minds to be filled with information and joy.

Not all dubs. Robotech back in the day kept Lynn Minmei the same, as well as Lynn Kyle (Kaifun in the original Marcross).
It's the show that brings you in, but it's the fandom that wears you out.

I would make a review of the Gokuu turning Super Saiyan scene, but as the AB Groupe are consistent in being pains in the unmentionables, they have blocked BOTH videos, with part 2 of episode 47, for anyone in my region to see on YouTube.

The only glimpse of it I have is in the recap on 48, and even then, one, I was highly irritated by that point and couldn't make a clear judgement, and two, it's the recap. Without seeing the original, I can't tell if it's the same performance, or a recording done for recap.

Yeah... Being a DragonBall fan in the UK can be really fun, sometimes...

Do they even own the rights to Kai? I think they're just blindly taking videos down that have "Dragon Ball" in their titles.

I'm pretty sure they don't.

Well, looks like I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out, (and come out on a third party seller on our UK sites, AND wait for a reasonable price to be there, AND wait for when I actually have the money to spend for it), to actually see the scene properly.

There's a difference between flipping the name order of actual Japanese names, and flipping the name order of fictional names which have no basis in Japanese culture. The former typically doesn't sound stupid, while the latter potentially does.

Really interesting to hear that "Son" slipped in.

I'd imagine that it's something they would have been using all the time though, if not for trying to maintain consistency with their Dragon Ball dub. Oh well. Even if it's never mentioned again, his official full name is now "Son Goku" in Funimation's dub of Kai. Those who are confused by it will quickly forget it or look it up.

This happens like 3 or 4 times in the series with Freeza. I remember one moment where his laughing mouth flaps were so bizarre Funi gave him his own alien language to try and fit it. I'm really curious how a group of people could look at that and just nod in approval as they dust their hands and say "job well done". That or they caught it and decided it would take too much time, effort and money to fix which seems...likely. Oh Freeza saga, y-you weren't treated very nicely.

I'm not gonna lie. Kai's dub with Faulconer music sounds epic. Except I would switch around some of the songs. Put something more ominous and scary during Goku's SSJ transformation.

Aside from what's been mentioned, I also liked the little "okay" after Goku orders Gohan to take Piccolo and leave Namek.

Lol. I don't care how much any of you love FUNimation's ridiculous and improper treatment of DBZ through the years, especially their wack former dub with all of its incorrect character names, radically incorrect script and outright removal of the original music track. I have waited 15 long years for Dragon Ball to be getting the respect it is now getting. First the Dragon Box release, of which the only flaw has been using out of place images on two of the background images for the episode select menus, and now "Son Goku" being used in the dub and actually surviving the cutting room floor to be played on TV. I can pretty much die happy now, the only thing better than this would be to go back in time and show FUNimation execs how well DBZ can do without watering it down like to mask a double shot of tequila.

I'm going to laugh my ass off at any posts after this from the dub faithful crying about how they think the old dub did certain scenes or episodes better. This is how Dragon Ball should be. To think I can actually watch an edited dub of DB on television and not feel like smoking crack is a preferable alternative.
LOL. I didn't say anything about how I love the old Funi dub more than kai, or anything about the music track. I simply said why I think they put the line in. Stop projecting.

Oh I wasn't specifically replying to you, just using your ignorant comment as a springboard to voice my opinion on the Kai dub. If you go back no less than five pages in this thread you'll see posts from the old dub faithful burning the Kai dub for not measuring up to the fond memories of their favorite cartoon, Toonami DBZ. I'm simply tired of letting page after page go by, reading this crap and not saying anything about it. I realize nothing is ever going to replace Toonami DBZ for these people and as someone who started out on the Ocean and early FUNi dub I can understand not wanting to let go of that. All I'm saying is you can say you like watching Jersey Shore "because it's stupid" for so long until you continue watching it because you actually like it. And I don't expect anyone to get that analogy and fully expect two or three posts telling me I'm putting words in someone's mouth or playing "mental gymnastics."

Bottom line is I think the old dub has more problems than Lindsay Lohan and the Kai dub is finally doing it right, and I enjoy the old dub faithful crying about it not measuring up to Toonami DBZ about as much as I love the broadcast score not being on the Dragon Box.

If it was for the "elitist fans", then I guess Sean Schemmel is an "elitist fan".

He's said himself, that HE wanted to say it. Someone mentioned it to him on facebook and he said he'd love to try and get it in there. And he did.

EDIT: The last part of my post sounds vaguely sexual...

LMAO. Sean more than likely got tired of people like Pengiuntuth ragging on him constantly so he campaigned to make it more similar to what his detractors prefer, thus trying to please elitist fans.

You really like to retract your own motivations and then pretend to understand and speak for others, don't you?

If you honestly believe that an American voice actor will purposefully change a script just to shut up a vocal minority who constantly badgers them and creates an air of animosity between the two sides (whether or not you feel that either side is "right" or "wrong" or "responsible"), you are incredibly delusional.

Any more "lol"s you want to toss out there? It's getting a little old, but I'll bite.

I'm not stating it as fact. That is clearly an opinion. That could be why I said "More than likely"
