What a great and amusing shot.

I'd actually thought that Vegeta had grown somewhat from the Saiyan arc, when he looked smaller than the average human. Maybe it's just that, back then, he was standing beside Nappa, who was really tall, but I don't remember him being that much shorter than Goku. Although that shot is from the anime, which may not count.

Also, I'd like to note: Assuming that Goku is meant to be the same height in each chart, despite being drawn with slightly different proportions on them; it seems that as Piccolo grows shorter, Vegeta grows taller. I suppose Vegeta is siphoning off the Namekians height. xD

So if Vegeta is 5'4½ (according to the guide of 1.64m) then Goku would be between 6'2 to 6'3½.

If you want to get technical, Saiyans are "humans" in DB terms since practically everyone is referred to as "ningen" at some point in time. Saiyans are basically just humans with tails, after all, they're close enough genetically to produce fertile offspring. We've never had any of the characters mention Goku or Vegeta having abnormally large/small heads, Toriyama would have brought it up as a joke if they did. You can assume the guideline applies.

That's actually the manga I've been reading. It's written by the same guy that produced the movie for the Tenkaichi in the Buu arc. It's quite interesting actually. The story is composed into 56 volumes and 155 episodes.
Story arcs:
-Bardock Chronicles

-The battle for the universe
-Freeza defeated! Mr. Satan truly is the strongest! Why have the Kaioshins wiped his memory!?

-The life and times of Mr. Buu and Mr. Satan

You should really give it a read sometime, it's the most popular anime/manga series of all time. It's been praised for its state of the art animation, being the best of its time! The manga is incredible to say the least, each panel is colored and incredibly detailed, to the point of looking as if the artist took days upon days making sure everything was perfect.

The manga is titled simply Dragon Ball 1.2 whereas the anime is known as Turtle Square X. There's 27 feature length animated movies, which have all been praised for the studio's work on them. There's also 12 manga adaptions out, the 13th is scheduled to hit the shelves in January. I really can't say enough for this series, it's utterly fantastic.

Yeah and if Goku really is 5'9 (as guides claim he is 1.75m) then Vegeta would be 1.4732m - 1.5113m tall. In the imperical system, that would make him between 4'10 - 4'11½.

Anyhow, Dragon Ball (Generally most anime/manga) don't have proportions that match up to real life, given the artistic style.

There doesn't look like any consistency between the different height lineups.

In the one with Broly, if Vegeta is 5'4½, then Goku is 5'11¾.

In the Vegeta to Gohan picture, eye to eye is 38/229*59 (minus 5½ for eye to chin) so you have Gohan at 6'2⅓.

I think Toriyama is just winging it because the ratio's between his characters keep changing.

Vegeta really has to be 5'0 or 5'1 max for the difference between he and Gohan/Vegeta to make any sense. 5'4½ seems a little high.

Here's a comparison shot between Goku and Vegeta

The difference between those 2 guys is pretty significant. That's way more than the difference of 5'8-something versus 5'4-something. I'm 6'1 and I come up a little above my Uncle's eyebrow (6'5). Goku is about 6'0 to 6'2 in anime.
