Legendary Super Warriors for the GBC

Post by MetalMadness » Fri Dec 17, 2010 11:41 am

Who else owns/has played this game?

I still have mine to this day and I cannot believe my cartridge still works, not to mention my save file is still functioning right.

The translations of this game are pretty hilarious, because they replace every instance of the word "Die" with "lost" or "beat." There's a scene where Cell yells out "The entire world will LOST."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0Yxi6-J ... re=related

It's interesting though because they say damn, and hell a lot, but they aren't allowed to say die? There's also way more hilarious translations, like when Goku meets Freeza, he tells him "you look young."

As a kid I never noticed this stuff but now when I replay the game I'm laughing my ass off. Man I love this game :P

This will never not be my sig:

I can't believe this is on-topic.

I own it, and it's by far my favorite DBZ game. I like to think that I know more about that game since anyone else, seeing as how I've had it essentially since 2002. I've been debating whether or not to ask VegettoEX if I can get on the podcast to do like, a retro review or something, 'cause I think this game is underrated despite it being pretty good, despite it's translations, which are hilarious.

You're lost!

I remember the Neptune thing being that the Japanese words for the planet Neptune and King Kai's planet are identical.

Yeah, but even so, that is a giant error. I mean, it's not like the show hadn't been on in Japan (even in the U.S!). They could've easily, you know, have double-checked. That said, Rocketman, if that's true, than I can see how that mistake could've been made.

I couldn't play that game and I love DBZ card RPGs. The battles just moved waaaaay too slow and monotonous for my taste. It was almost like playing an episode of DBZ with all the filler in tact (maybe that was the point?) It was unique and the story mode was impressive covering just about every battle but I just couldn't get into it. I remember being pretty impressed that every character had a well done battle sprite.

I like the long battles, but in 2002 I had a lot of free time on my hands. I can't imagine playing that game during, say, a lunch break- it's way too involving, which may or may not be a good thing.

The battle sprites are awesome. That's why of the positive points about the game that is always brought up, and to this day there are communities that revolve all around the modification or creation of the LSW sprites. I like how even now, 8 years later, the sprites still look great. They hold up very well.

The Japanese characters are different, but the pronunciation is the same.

I still have it, and I still can't believe my sister's GBC still works. I still can't get past Nappa, and I had the game since 2002. I remember I try to sold it back in 2006, and the people at Gamestop told me that they don't buy GBC games anymore.

I actually got to Jheese and Butta but then I lost the game somewhere. I re-bought the game. Now I'm at Vegeta. He's harder than I remember.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

It been years since I play it, when I was replaying the game again I pretty much forgot how to beat him. I might reply it again soon if I can find my old GBA somewhere.

Yeah, you should totally go ahead and replay it! It's a feeling unlike any other when you beat the opponent knowing that if you did your turn and didn't kill 'em, the game was over, 'cause you would die the next turn. Man, you have no idea how much the "Avoiding" and "Endurance" cards have saved me the frustration of losing.

Yeah, this game can be extremely unforgiving. Even with all my experience, I still find the Recoome fight incredibly difficult. The frustration comes in part from your lack of good characters and cards, so luck plays a part in most fights. Keep trying! You'll get past him in no time!
