Trunks is less formal talking to the any of the Man-Made Beings (yes, my attempt at an all-covering translation for the Jinzouningen). One specific example I can think of off the top of my head is when Trunks goes into his "Over-The-Top Super Saiyan" (Tondemonai Super Saiya-jin) state, or Third Grade Super Saiyan. He specifically says "Omae wo korosu zo", which is pretty standard for some of the others (like Vegeeta), but for Trunks, this is pretty significant a change.

Interesting. I really need to read that arc again, in Japanese! Do you recall him ever saying オレ/ore, aside from the time he spoke to Freeza?

Not off the top of my head. And I do have to mention that I'm going off the anime, so he may not have said it in the manga. I'd have to check the anime again, but I think he may possibly use "Ore" when talking to Cell in his Over-The-Top mode.

Admit haven't watched a lot of eps with him, so I have to ask, what do you guys think of Gluttony Popo?

Also was anyone else surprised in the second ep the other day when they're tiptoing around death but then Popo asked to revive those killed directly?

No new DBZ Kai for a while.

We'll have to wait and see if January will have any new episodes. I really wish they would just finish the Freeza arc, at least.

I swear they need to either reduce how much Avatar plays or get it off entirely.

I tried to watch an Avatar marathon on Nicktoons once and had to stop. Apparently I tuned in to "Avatar: The Fansub Edition! " It's like someone thought "It looks like anime already, so let's make it look like an annoying fansub for the fansub market!"

Almost Every time someone said something, a "note" appeared on the screen to tell me what it was they meant. "I need to shave my head" *NOTE: Ang shaves his head so he can feel the wind for Airbending". "I need to find *insert character name*" *NOTE: They met that character in this place*

It was annoying as all hell and made it hard to get into the series.

If they weren't showing all that damn Avatar, they would be able to squeeze in DBZ Kai.

They're only four episodes of the Freeza arc left!
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

That could be the reason there is no Kai this week. I recall there was an Avatar marathon all this week. Let's hope for a return to form next week. It might be kind of cool if they just slipped into the Androids arc. But I don't see that happening.

They're probably holding off on airing anything else until after people have returned from Christmas vacation. Alternatively, they could be waiting to get more episodes from FUNimation.

Avatar isn't the first show to air enhanced trivia editions (Lost would do it back when it was still airing on ABC). Considering this is the millionth time they're repeating the series it isn't going to kill anyone if they include notes for the casual viewer.

Watch the series on DVD, it's easier that way.

Part Four's cover art. This was surprisingly better than I anticipated it to be.

EDIT: Crap, I didn't realize I double posted. Sorry. >_<

I really wish they'd just follow a consistent schedule on Nicktoons. I don't know what's so hard about that. I'm sure Funi has finished dubbing the Freeza saga; they're probably on the Androids or Cell by now. The logic about just watching it on DVD is strong: the dub is better, you can watch more episodes at once, and you have more control over when you watch it. However, the DVDs are taking a little longer to come out than prior Dragon Ball releases. Right now, the Kai releases are roughly 1 month behind (December and March instead of November and February). It's also annoying because they strictly adhere to the 13 episodes thing. Volume 3 and Volume 4 should have been 14 episodes each to finish the Freeza Saga by the end of 4 and start a new saga in volume 5. At this point, they're putting the final two episodes out 3 or 4 months later than the rest of the saga. But I guess I shouldn't bitch too much. As a dubbie, the quality of the Kai dub is nothing short of impeccable, and while there are still some flaws (Kaio), the advantages vastly outweigh them (Schemmel's Goku, all of Sabat's characters, and of course, Ayers' Freeza).

On a somewhat related note, did anyone else here notice that Nicktoons has a severe lack of variety? They show the same 4 or 5 shows CONSTANTLY. Kai is one of them and that's fine, but so much Avatar. I thought that Nicktoons was largely a network for classic Nicktoons (Doug, Rugrats, Rocko, Ren & Stimpy, Catdog, Hey Arnold, Angry Beavers, etc.), but those shows are rarely used if they have some Avatar repeats to air. Tons of source material to draw from, yet no variety in their lineup.

Volume 4's cover looks awesome.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a better written show than anything DB-related, so I wouldn't hate on it if I were you guys.

It's because of Dragon Ball Kai that I got into it, since it's on so often on the same channel. I finally said, "Yeah, I might as well give it a chance" and really enjoyed it. Though it is true that Nicktoons relies way too much on repeating it.

Part 4 has nice box art but why can't they be consistent. Every release so far has had only one character so why on this one do we have Goku and Freeza?

It does suck that Nicktoons just cannot be consistent in putting Kai out once a week or twice a week. Its annoying that we get a couple of episodes one week then three weeks without a new episode. Maybe they should just stick with one episode a week. It would have been nice if they would have finished the Freeza saga before the new year.

This guy knows exactly what he's talking about. Hate to break it to ya', but Avatar knocks DB outta' the park. It throws the American cartoons and comics<<<<<Japanese animu/comics out the window, spits on it, then carries on with it's rightly-earned worldwide success.

Never watched Avatar, so I can't judge it. I heard it's supposed to be pretty good, especially since it's an "American anime" which can often be hit or miss. If I got Nicktoons on TV, I'd probably watch it some time and see what I think. As it stands, Nicktoons isn't included in my cable package, and my only connection with it is the Kai page whenever a new episode comes out.

Avatar's linear as all hell. I know Dragon Ball isn't exactly full of twists and turns, but some things actually do happen unpredictably in it.

And I love FUNi's new cover art. I hope it makes its way down under. :P
