Re: Dragonball Recap
Are you referring to the recap in episode one of the first series?

Re: Dragonball Recap
That's such an odd request. Do you mean you want someone to write down, basically copy the subtitles from all the previews that played before every DragonBall Kai episode so far?! Wait, wait... and you want the English version too?! No, I don't think anyone is going to do this for you. I think this is one of those things that, if you want it done, you might have to do it yourself.songohan619 wrote:Can anyone write down the entire Japanese (Translated) and English versions, and post them here?

No, I think he's asking for the recap of Dragonball (sans 'Z') from the first episode of Kai.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:That's such an odd request. VegettoEX wrote:"Snoop Lion" is just a character he's playing for his reggae album and documentary. Him saying that it's his new name is all part of the character.
I can't believe this is on-topic.

Re: Dragonball Recap
"So it came to be that this child from a far away planet fell to Earth. And thanks to the kindness of a stranger, he would make this new world his home. This is where the story of Gokū begins. The years past, and the baby Gokū grew to be a strong, healthy boy. But his life would be forever changed when he met a girl called Bulma, and joined her on a quest to find the Dragon Balls. Seven magic orbs, that when gathered together, would call forth the dragon Shenron, to grant a single wish. Gokū met many new friends in his travels, and honed his skills as a pupil of the great martial artist, Master Roshi. Skills that were continually put to the test, as he was forced to defend himself -- and his friends -- against a host of dangerous opponents. Gokū's toughest test came when he faced the powerful villain, King Piccolo. But the help of the sage Korin allowed Gokū to tap into vast reserves of still-hidden strength. In the battle that followed, the true extent of Gokū's otherworldy powers was revealed, and with a mighty charge, King Piccolo's quest for world domination came crashing to a halt. However, with his dying breath, King Piccolo had time to hatch one final scheme, and three years later, Piccolo Junior appeared before a grown up Gokū, looking to avenge his father and resume his evil plans. Another epic battle ensued, and though the two were almost equally matched, the new Piccolo still could not withstand Gokū's might. Five years have past since that faithful day, Gokū married his childhood sweetheart Chichi, and the two have enjoyed a quiet life together, while the world remained in peace..... until now."
This is all the narrator's dialogue from the dub. I don't see why you'd want the dialogue from the original version aswell, seeing as how the dub is accurately translated.

Thanks. I was not sure if it was any differences in the dub and the original.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:"So it came to be that this child from a far away planet fell to Earth. Re: Dragonball Recap
The dub is not always so accurately translated. I've seen plenty of times where the dub was way off.
"On Planet Vegeta, a baby boy cries for the first time. His father, and his mother planet, are about to be destroyed by a fearsome enemy. (This part was left out of Piccolo Daimaoh's post... but I can't blame him since this is mixed in with a lot of other characters and dialog and just... not that important).
And so, a baby from a faraway planet falls to Earth. He was a young boy who had taken the charge of an unknown destiny. This is the tale of Son Goku. Son Goku would grow up healthy, and together with Bulma, go on a journey to gather the seven Dragon Balls, which are said to grant any wish. While on his journey, Goku would meet many friends, go through much training, seek for greater strength, and fight. In his battle against the Demon Clan, who sought to rule the world, he would increase his power even further under the guidance of the martial arts sage Karin-sama, and masterfully put a stop to the schemes of Piccolo Daimao, who had once again become young with the Dragon Balls. Piccolo would leave behind his offspring before dying. Three years later, Ma Junior, the reincarnation of Piccolo, and a grown-up Goku would wage battle in a fateful confrontation. Following a heated battle, Goku would claim the victory. It's now a little more than five years later. Goku and Chichi had abruptly gotten married, and the people were living in peace. However..."
I mean at times it's really close, but in some instances the translations just fall apart. The dub seems to try to give much, much, much more information and explanation for things. Not necessarily a bad thing, but we can't say that it's a spit-on translation. Is it closer than anything else they've cone in Dragon Ball Z? Yes. But is it perfect? Not quite. Still, you can get the true gist of what is being said, unlike a lot of times in DBZ. But again, there are moments where the dub strays too far. For example, one that comes straight to mind is on Namek where Vegeta runs into Gohan and tells him that he has all of the Dragon Balls. I forgot what Gohan's response was in the dub, but I know it's totally different than the original. Little things like that. Overall, a good translation though.

I know. The beginning is pretty much the same.
Re: Dragonball Recap
I think "with his dying breath" was changed to "with his last breath" on Toonzai.

Re: Dragonball Recap
No I don't watch the Nick Toons version at all. Just my Blu-rays. When I say "not accurately translated," I don't necessarily mean something big that affects the story. Small things here and there. I mean little changes like "Goku and Chichi had abruptly gotten married, and the people were living in peace" changed into "Goku married his childhood sweetheart Chi-Chi, and the two have enjoyed a quiet life together, while the world remained in peace" where the whole "childhood sweetheart" thing was thrown in as well as the two living in peace. Or other little instances like that. Or whatever Gohan says in the dub when Vegeta tells him that he has all of the Dragon Balls. In the original, he says, "A-all of them?" and in the dub he says something completely different. Again, not saying it's a bad translation, just not 100% accurate like everyone seems to believe. Like Piccolo Daimaoh telling songohan619 that the dub was enough to cover the recap because it is the same as the original. Well, not exactly. Slightly different. Tells the same story, yes, some words are the same, yes, but some things aren't a direct copy. And I know they can't be. But certain times, things that are changed can be avoided, such as that Gohan/Vegeta scene. That only sticks out in my mind because it is what I saw most recent that just jumped out at me because even the old Z dubs got it more accurately than this one... which is crazy.
