"Bonjour,
Non, les transformations ne seront pas possibles durant le combat. Il ne
faut pas essayer de comparer DBZ budokai Tenkaichi au précédent budokai,
c'est un jeu complètement à part qui explore une toute nouvelle façon de
jouer.

PS! Luthor2006 from Gamekultl sent Atari and email to find out about the transformations, and got this reply:
"Hey,
No, it won't be possible to transform during a fight.
You can't compare DBZ budokai Tenkaichi with the previous Budokai,
it's a game completely different, and it plays in a tottaly different way.

Thats all well and good, but like has been said many times, the only logical way to find out about what is in a game, is when a reputable source, like IGN, GameSpot, or Atari themselves expounds the games most secret information, or upon actual release when we get the game for ourselves.Sangofe wrote:<clipped>
Let's think about this rationally for a moment, shall we? First lets look at the medium in which this information was passed; it's done through a forum, where any number of idea could be passed around, some may have factual information behind them, and some may not, but the bottom line is, we don't go believing things said on a forum without cold hard evidence to back it up.
Lets now look at the medium in which the information was obtained: Gamekult. GameSpot has said in the past that they've been prone to making things up to suit their news, so for the moment lets take this as a grain of salt.
Now we must look at the medium in which the information was derived: Email. When have we ever had good luck with information being provided through email?
And to finish the break down period, lets look at the game itself. Dragon Ball games are pretty much all about the transformations, and attacks, and the strategy these can be used with in order to secure a win in a fight; now what sort of game would Sparking/Budokai Tenka'ichi be, without transformations? On top of that, we've seen transformations in screen-caps...
Now lets be logical here, if Sparking! doesn't have transformations, what kind of DragonBall Z game would it be? It's all about the transformations, and I can't really see the game not having them.
I've thought about it though, and if it is true, what are they doing to compromise, and compensate for the loss? There is hardly anything that could replace a well timed transformation... atleast in my opinion...
Also, I've just checked both GameSpot and IGN, and they don't reflect that information, so for now I would take this with a grain of salt.

Once again, Europe gets the better english version. It was sorta predictable.sangofe wrote:http://genkidbz.free.fr/viewtopic.php?t=542&start=15

And yeah, there have been DBZ games without transformations that were good (dbz legends for example).
Could you please show this screencapture that proves there are transformations? I'd love to see that.

I meant that one again, Europe gets a version with Japanese voices and English text (No way am I modding my PS2 just for this though). It was about a 66% chance they would get it (3 DBZ fighting games currently in Europe. 2/3 have japanese voices with english text (Budokai 1 + 3 special edition) and 1/3 English entirely (Budokai 2) (I don't count the regular Budokai 3 because they rereleased it with Japanese voices due to popular demand))Rocketman wrote:The better English version has Japanese voices?Son Goku wrote:Once again, Europe gets the better english version. This file says about this (didn't bother getting exact tl and it was done fast, plus I'm going to bed now, exuse me for eventual errors, but there shouldn't be any real ones):
Hey again,
I am talking about the recent version.
Assure yourself, not having any transformations during the fights isn't a bother at all,
because as I've already said before Tenkaichi is based on completely different way of playing than the Budokai series.
- As various french dbz-fan, I hope nothing of this is true and that atari france don't know anything about the games...
But, we will see soon, there's apparntly going to be a preview of it soon.

Simply put; not having in-game transformations is gonna blow IMO, and be a huge blow to the gameplay by having too many of the same character in character selection, imagine if they include something like: Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan, Adult Gohan, Great Saiyaman, Potential-Unlocked Kid Gohan, SSJ Teen Gohan, SSJ2 Teen Gohan, SSJ Adult Gohan, SSJ2 Adult Gohan, and Mystic Gohan. Geez, and that's just Gohan! There's so many other different characters with different forms and separate selves selectable (Trunks, Goku, and Buu for example). I thought the game's intro was the only bad aspect we should expect, however if the aspect of no in-game transformations comes to pass, then the character selection screen is gonna make GT Final Bout's look insignificant.
14 years later
I'm hopeing, since it looks like there won't be any in-game transformations, it'll be seperate costumes instead of seperate characters.

I think that if there are no in game transformations you won't see them on the character select screen.
You probably choose a character and then you choose the transformation, much like you could choose Gohan in the original Budokai, after selecting him you chose which version of him you wanted to play (Kid, Pre-Teen, or Saiyaman)

Well it could go like this, you have a roster with all characters, you choose the one you want with a button then you press up/down to get the right transformation and left/right for the desired costume.
This way they could also do alternate skins for characters, though I guess that is just wishing for too much, but wouldn't it be cool to select all of Bardock's team due to skins of the character Bardock?
