King Cold's FUNimation English Dub Voice in Kai
Will they keep the old dub voice or do you think they will make him sound more like the original Japanese version?

Re: King Colds Voice
They have to have the same voice actor, because no one could deliver the line "what's a Goku?" the way he did. I don't care if it's accurate, it cracks my girlfriend & I up everytime we hear it

Re: King Colds Voice
That's not accurate. In the original Japanese dub, he only said "Son Goku?".Dizrythmia wrote:They have to have the same voice actor, because no one could deliver the line "what's a Goku?" the way he did. I don't care if it's accurate, it cracks my girlfriend & I up everytime we hear it

Well since Brad Jackson didn't return to voice Oolong, I guess that means he isn't returning for King Cold either. I'm also wondering who is going to be voicing King Cold now too.

I HIGHLY doubt out of nowhere that they would throw in that 'son' thing.
And yes, "what's a Goku?" is his best line ever.

"But Freeza, whatever for?"
Yes, dub King Cold was awesome.

I just hope that the new voice gives the same style of delivery as Brad did, rather than a generic brutish deep voice.

You guys liked dub King Cold? I found it extremely obnoxious. Way over the top.
And that dialogue. "I only wanted peace." Somebody should have been thrown down a flight of stairs for that.

I can't really think of a good actor in FUNi's pool for the role. Sabat's the only really strong manly-man voice actor they have and is preoccupied voicing a bunch of other characters.
Re: King Cold's FUNimation English Dub Voice in Kai
Nobody was praising most of the dialog, it was about the voice itself. I think it could work with Kai's scripts and the right direction.penguintruth wrote:You guys liked dub King Cold? I found it extremely obnoxious. Way over the top.

Re: King Cold's FUNimation English Dub Voice in Kai
People really liked dub King Cold? Well I didn't and I was a dub fan lol I don't care what they do with him. He's not important enough to get too much attention. He must have 5 minutes of dialog put together. I never knew Brad Jackson did his voice. Nice.
Brad Jackson not returning to do Oolong doesn't mean that he can't do King Cold, but since they replaced him with someone who sounds pretty much spot on with him, then it's probably something that indicates a falling out between FUNimation and Jackson. Linda Young was replaced as Freeza but as far as I know, she still voiced Fortuneteller Baba (I know that Baba doesn't appear during the Freeza arc, but they did Kai so fast that they must have known that they were going with Ayers at least during the Goku vs. Vegeta fight, which is when Young voiced the character).

Maybe King Cold will also sound like Ladd Russo.

Whoever played Dorry in One Piece, maybe? That guy's voice is pretty deep. I wouldn't mind Sabat just getting him out of the way, personally. It's just Cold. Backed with dialog that doesn't make your ears shrivel into black husks, he's not very memorable or important.

On the Dragon Ball Z Kai wiki page, it lists that Troy Baker will be taking over the role for Brad Jackson.
To this point he hasn't done any other characters on DBZ Kai, so unless someone knows him from something else, it's hard to see what direction they will go in.

DB Wiki is not reliable at all. Let's just wait until we get to King Cold to confirm his new voice.spikevegeta wrote:On the Dragon Ball Z Kai wiki page, it lists that Troy Baker will be taking over the role for Brad Jackson.

Know won't happen, but it would be all right if Tom Kane did King Cold in his Him voice.

Well, it's awesome in a terrible sort of way. In keeping with the overall quality of the Kai dub, I don't think it should be anything like the original Dub voice, but said voice is still fun to laugh at.penguintruth wrote:You guys liked dub King Cold? Have you guys forgotten R. Bruce Elliot already? You know the guy who played Ginyu in the Kai dub. He has a nice and deep voice, he could do well in the role. I think his Whitebeard voice would suit Cold well.
