But GT's so short already (well, 64 GT eps up against Z's 291 is short to me)....I mean, how many episodes would that whittle down to? Like, 15 or 20?

Seriously though, I think DB needs the Kai treatment far more than GT does.

Doing a GT Kai is pointless because GT itself is also pointless.
Also, it would probably mean changing GT's only positive quality, the music.
Sean Schemmel is probably either joking or has no idea what he's talking about.

I think this "GT Kai" they may come up with is a Dragon Box release of GT with a BIG revamp to the dub. I don't think it's gonna be "Kai" in a sense of how Toei made Dragon Ball Kai, but what FUNi did to Dragon Ball Kai: Great quality and accurate dub that sticks with the original Japanese version. "GT Kai" may be just a company nickname. I'm up for a new narrator.

The hell is the point of a 'Kai' version of GT?
There is no filler or cannon, because none of that crap was in the manga. (thank God)

Didn't they already do "DBGT Kai" back when it was called "We're just not going to release the first 16 episodes right now"...?

Mr. Schemmel was making a joke, people. What are you left with when you take the non-canon material out of GT? Nothing.

One could argue that they would just use the Kai branding afterward to release new versions of old series to make more money. FUNi does like money.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:It's just going to be a box sex of 5 blank DVD's.Kaboom wrote:... What are you left with when you take the non-canon material out of GT? Nothing.

True, true. I guess they could re-dub the series with the current cast. Seems almost pointless though, but then again like you said, if they think it'll sell...Mewzard wrote:One could argue that they would just use the Kai branding afterward to release new versions of old series to make more money. I didn't think Funi would re-dub the first episodes of Z or the first DB movie (and they did). I didn't think Funi would replace the "music" in GT, but they did. I didn't think we'd get remastered versions of all the Dragon Ball series stuff, but they did. I didn't think the English Dub would ever use the original music, but it did. I didn't think we'd get the Dragon Boxes in English, but we are. Other people didn't expect that Funi would do so accurate a dub, but I hoped for it.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:True, true. Funi is quite unpredictable in all ways except for one...they want money, and if they think they can get it, they'll do it (If you milk it, they will come...and all that).
Kai might just be used as a moniker by Funi, like how some video games used Kai in Japan.

I wouldn't mind a GT Kai. It makes sense to take tha Kai label, assuming it's as popular with new fans as it seems, and redub GT to bring it up to Z Kai's standards. The show may kind of suck by comparison, but a redub would be nice (not that there was too much wrong with the old GT dub after they reinserted the original music).

This could mean a TV re-broadcast. Who wants to see Toonzai edit GT?

I'd buy it if it were just a redub. Not that I dislike the old GT dub, but I'm guessing it would have some tweaks made for the better. Maybe we'd even get a full version of "Dan Dan".
Still....I think I'll stick with the whole joke idea, for now.

If I had to guess, it's probably another release of the series with the correct background music and the current voice cast, i.e. Colleen playing Kid Goku etc. That's the only possible thing a GT "Kai" could even be.

Holy shit, GT redubbed and aired on TV would get me to sit down and watch Nicktoons. But that will never happen...

Kai? I'd like GT to be extended not shortened. The series has some good ideas but doesn't execute them well because of the ratings tumble.
