Are you talking about the script with the current FUNimation dub or the old TV edited version?

IIRC, if you watch the UUE of TOM in English, the hunt for the DB's during the opening credits are cut out.

Didn't Ocean add extra sound effects, or something?

Re: Ocean Tree of Might Differences
Yes they did. Well in a nutshell, both the edited and uncut versions are completely different, none used either of the recordings used in the other, edited dub uses Shuki Levy's score and Ian Corlett as Goku and uncut dub contains Shunsuke Kikuchi's score.
But for a more indepth description:
-Punches or blows have been either cut out, reduced down or had flashes put over.
-The scene where Tullece forces Gohan's eyes open to the fake moon has been moved to holding him by the shoulder and poorly redrawn his face, hence where 'Retarded Gohan' came from. Here is a screenshot I took from my DVD recording for an example:

-Haiya Dragon has been renamed to Icarus, which is also used in FUNimation's UUE dub.
-Some scenes from the Saiyan Conflict episodes were added into the footage too, like DB Movie 1 was.
-A tree has been placed over Gohan's private parts at the end
I think that's about it, there maybe more.

Re: Ocean Tree of Might Differences
Edited or whatever, I wish they had a DVD of the edited Tree of Might. After collecting every single release from FUNimation, I decided "What the hell" and got the Ocean dub stuff. I really liked Tree of Might, mainly Ian James Corlett's performance in it. It was a nostalgic thing for me, what can I say? And when I got my Tree of Might DVD, I was pretty disappointed. Not because I didn't like that it was "uncut" and had a more proper script, but because that's not why I was getting it. If I wanted that, I could just watch the Japanese version of it to be honest. Out of Tree of Might, World's Strongest, and Dead Zone, which were the three movies they continuously played, Tree of Might was my favorite and Ian James Corlett's performance was amazing in my eyes, even if nobody agrees. I wish they released that edited version of it, but oh well. Life goes on lol
By the way, new Cartoon Network logo (at least relatively new in that pic) and the edited Ocean dubbed version? That's weird. I thought they changed the logo after the Ultimate Uncut stuff came out, so if they were going to show Tree of Might I would think it would be the "redubbed" one... Huh...

Re: Ocean Tree of Might Differences
In Australia and New Zealand, they still regularly play Dragon Ball Z, two episodes each weeknight, starting back at the Ocean Dub this month. But back last year and 2009, they had played all 13 movies too but since they used whatever they had before, they just played the broadcast versions of Movies 1-3. But in a way, I'm glad they reaired it since no high quality rip exists.TheGreatness25 wrote:Edited or whatever, I wish they had a DVD of the edited Tree of Might. Why was Haiya Dragon renamed to Icarus?

Yeah, I have no idea why they'd purposely break continuity like that.

"Haiya Dragon" sounds just way too Japanese. Gotta change it to Icarus and educate young kids on the legend of the guy who flew too close to the sun because... Haiya Dragon could fly... and there was a scene where he was flying with the sun in the background. It totally makes sense.

Re: Ocean Tree of Might Differences
I just thought maybe they thought Haiya/Higher Dragon sounded lame and decided to give him an actual name. Maybe they should've just done like some of the Inner Sailor Soldiers with different name, but keeping a pun.TheGreatness25 wrote:"Haiya Dragon" sounds just way too Japanese. The uncut dub uses Peter Kelamis as Goku right?BluezaBladeNZ wrote:Yes they did. He did actually respond, though screwed up and ended up being in the quoted message. He said back: I must admit that was a pretty well done cendoring.dbgtFO wrote:Dude, why did you quote that guy, if you aren't going to reply to it anyways?

Yes it does. Another difference is how Kaio-ken is pronounced. In the edited dub, it's Kayo-ken like the episodes while the uncut dub is Kaio-ken as it's suppose to be.dbgtFO wrote:The uncut dub uses Peter Kelamis as Goku right?

That was done because they first showed it broken up into three episodes and added footage to fill out more time.BluezaBladeNZ wrote:-Some scenes from the Saiyan Conflict episodes were added into the footage too, like DB Movie 1 was.
Another difference I noticed is that Turles' henchmen are more respectful in the uncut /video dub. In the tv dub they address him by name, but in the uncut dub they address him as "Master Turles". Also in the tv dub, the big Native American looking guy is referred to by name, but in the uncut dub he isn't and is like the other goons besides those twins, is only named in the credits.

I never saw it abridged, so don't know who Rudolf is.
