Does anyone watch Dragon Ball with you?
My mom watches Z Kai with me when I watch my recordings from NickToons. She started about when Ginyu switched bodies with Goku or when Goku was fighting Jheese and Butta. She get's impatient a lot when the show drags out which is funny and I can only imagine her watching the original Z. For example, when Goku was taking a long time to recover and when the preview showed that he was going to be recovered next episode, she said "It's about time!" Or when Freeza finally got done powering up to 100% power and the narrator said to tune in on the next Z Kai, she said "Oh man! They always tease you." We're watching my Z Kai sets from the beginning to catch her up. So, has anything like this ever happened to you? Do your parents watch Dragon Ball?

My mom read all of the manga a while ago. It was pretty interesting seeing it through her eyes. It all started years ago when I was in hospital, and I had the first few volumes with me to give me something to do; she ended up reading the first couple while I was in surgery, but it wasn't until years later that I said she should read it sometime. And to my surprise, she did just that.
Oh, and she was impatient around the Freeza saga, too. It's funny: those of us who have watched the anime think the manga is really fast paced, but someone who hasn't seen the anime at all might not feel the same way.

Hahaha. Maybe I can get my mom to read the manga too! I own all of Dragon Ball in Viz Big format. I own the first four Viz Bigs of Z and the 11-26 of the manga. It is surprising to see how people react to how the manga or Z Kai is now and have no clue that it was a lot slower in the original Z anime.Bussani wrote:My mom read all of the manga a while ago. Re: Does anyone watch Dragon Ball with you?
I watch Dragon Ball (the english dub) with my boyfriend and I watch Kai with my younger cousin. I force my boyfriend to watch DB with me. No cooking, no cleaning, no nothing unless we watch three episodes of DB in a row once a week. I'm not kidding, he gets pretty pissed about but in the end we both enjoy watching it together. I know, I'm the best girlfriend in the world.
My cousin and I love watching Kai together. He calls me up and yells "Kai is on! Kai is on!" I love telling him lies about future episodes but he starting to catch on.

So, you watch the English dub of Z too? Man, where are the girls like you in my school? I know one geeky girl and I don't even know if she likes Dragon Ball or not but she likes other geeky things. Ahem, anyways, I like that you're cousin is so excited when Kai is on. It kinda reminds me of how excited I got. Hahaha. See, I like watching it with people who enjoy it since it's much more fun that way.Scarz wrote:I watch Dragon Ball (the english dub) with my boyfriend and I watch Kai with my younger cousin. Re: Does anyone watch Dragon Ball with you?
When I first started watching DB as a child, my mum and dad would sometimes watch it with me. My friends will occasionally watch a few episodes with me, but it’s not really their kind of anime.
My best friend is currently reading the manga I let her borrow. She seems to be liking it a lot.

No. And I prefer it that way.
Though, my dad and younger brother did watch it with me when it aired more than a decade ago.
I did watch it with a group of people a few years back (at a marathon). It was pretty embarrassing as I was clearly more into it then they were; stating random facts and such.

Re: Does anyone watch Dragon Ball with you?
Not these days, which I'm glad of because it'd be awkward watching the japanese version of DB, Z and GT with my family or friends who were casual fans. I could so if I were to watch the dub with them, but that would be even more awkward for me.
But back when Z was airing, my brother and me would always watch the latest episodes, sometimes with my sister and some friends. My dad did occasionally watch Dragon Ball when it aired on Cartoon Network and enjoyed it, mostly because of the humour.

Re: Does anyone watch Dragon Ball with you?
I can't speak for the anime, as not even I have watched it in full myself. But I did bring in my manga one day into school. It was DBZ Volume 20, the beginning of the Boo arc, and my friend just asked to read with me. He enjoyed it and his favourite character was Fat Boo, but I don't think he really got into it after that.

I watch DragonBall Z Kai with my little sister on Nicktoons and Toonzai!
We'll also watch some of the DBZ movies with each other sometimes, along with GT. Me and my cousin will watch the movies together as well.

This thread makes me truly realize how alone I am.
I used to play fansubs for my friends and relatives back in the day and they would be amazed how far ahead the series got.

I sometimes watch it with Blonde Saiyan from these forums (he lives around where I live. If he's at my house we watch Japanese Z. If I'm visiting him we watch English Kai. Either way I win, and he doesn't mind the Japanese version too much, especially in the Jinzo-ningen arc.
Once in a great while my dad will watch it, but he falls asleep pretty quickly.

My brother and sister occasionally, as well as friends occasionally.
My long-distance girlfriend and I also go through one arc of Dragon Ball every time we're together. She's really enjoying it. We're on the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai now.

My two friends of mine would most of the time before they move out of town. My little sister (Now 15) used to watch Dragon Ball GT with me when it was on CN back in the early 2000's.

Re: Does anyone watch Dragon Ball with you?
Back when it aired on Toonami, my cousin and neighbor used to watch it with me, or rather, I used to watch it with them. I wasn't exactly a fan back then and strongly preffered watching Pokemon.
It may not be someone watching Dragon Ball with me, but I used to lend the manga to a friend of mine on the bus in middle school and we'd sort of read it together. It was a little strange because we'd act out the voices from time to time, but no one could hear us over their own conversations anyway. At the very least, I know I had fun with it.

My girlfriend and I watch an episode or two from the Dragonbox almost every night. Also, if he is around, my step-dad will watch Kai with me.
