DBZ-FUNI,DBZ-OCEAN,DBZKAI COMPARISON

Post by Garlic » Sat Jan 01, 2011 4:06 pm

So recently out of pure curiosity I decided to watch a few dub comparsions on youtube and found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeJIyz-A ... rofilepage. Now overall I prefer the Japanese cast but the Kai clip didn`t make me cringe at the dub like with Z.

I made a clip a while back comparing all the previous dubs to Kai as well. Here's my clip...

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

I'm sorry, I just think Kai is a funny re-dub. I couldn't even imagine having that on when my family walks in...
Tointless Monster is what he said. And I remember you commented on His speech in Kai and said it was pathetic in english despite the fact It was so close to the Japanese version. He even said SON GOKU

But that's just the Nicktoons edit dub!

Well yeah. The SSJ scene has not come to DVD/Blu-Ray yet, but it's still a really accurate dub. AnimeMaakuo was trying to use that as an example of the Kai dub being cheesy. Even though Kai is very accurate and true to the source material.

You`re right but its also coming from a Guy who thinks all filler is canon despite the plotholes.

The volume is way down on the Funimation dub clips. I have to turn my volume all the way up just to hear them.

I actually really like the old Ocean Raditz voice, but I also like Justin Cook's.

The funny thing was in the Ocean and Funimation UUE clips how they added a bunch of dialogue not intended to be there.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Really? I can hear them just fine without having to turn it up, but you're right the funimation ones do have a lower volume than the ocean one, enough to be noted, but not ridiculously low.

-I don't "hate," It's that I dislike. The original FUNimation dub was fun for kids when they were growing up, it's how it became so popular. Proper term, would be "dislike."

-I was actually referring to the nicktoons dub. For a fact, "filler" counts for me, whether you're pissed off or not. That's MY decision to like it. It's MY opinion.

*Edit* Could you please show me these "plot holes," Dragon Ball has? I'm seriously sick of people claiming these "MAJOR" plot holes, (like "oh my god" slash wrists) when they fail to prove any evidence.. Even then, I wouldn't be turned away from it.
First of all I would agree with your first statement if you had been like "I don't like it for x and y". Instead you almost seem to be making fun of it.

It doesn't matter if it's the Nicktoons dub, the uncut one is basically the same. It's been really accurate and the broadcast has kept almost everything intact.

Lastly, most haven't told you since they've been discussed or are common knowledge. You can find a lot here http://www.daizex.com/guides/filler/inc ... cies.shtml or here http://daizex.fanboyreview.net/viewtopi ... =8&t=15625.

I agree with AnimeMaakuo, in that I absolutely love ever last second of material, filler or manga. But I'm not going to pretend that every second of it is part of one huge perfect timeline deeming it canon. I'm very aware that if every piece of filler was to be taken as canon there would be some problems with the plot. But just because it is non-canon does not make it bad, or diminish its importance. It is still part of the anime; but you have to understand that if it really doesn't work, then it shouldnt be taken literally. This is not directed to you AnimeMaakuo, if you think every last piece of material has a place, then thats okay. :D

Lol, Gohan's five and a half in the Ocean dub, four and a half in the UUE dub, and four in the Kai dub. Make up your mind!

Dragon Ball Kai got it right in this respect.

I'm surprised anything I upload that contains the dub get's deleted while I can pretty much upload anything in Japanese and it get's to stay/get blocked from Japan.

Anyway.. I've always did like Justin's Raditz and how it took 2 tries to get Gohans flipping age right! He SHOWS 4 PEOPLE! 4 FRIGGIN FINGERS!!
It's really pointless to compare considering the Kai(FUNimation) dub is the closest to the source material and just sounds better to my ears.

Also you've opened a paradox box for ocean fans, hope ya can take it..
