Well, I have trouble with bittorrent for two reasons:

1. It takes me 3 days to download one episode of a show (and that's when it's actually working).
2. When someone explans to me how to fix it, they use techno mumbo jumbo (look, I'm a guy who wants to watch K-F's subbed One Piece, not a scientist.).
I also go by "veemonjosh".

If you're using a router, you need to forward ports 6881 through 6999. That usually fixes slow bitrates.

If you're on dial-up Son Goku, thats just how things are. You would definitely need a high speed connection to do it any better.
As far as high speed goes, I wouldn't know, but Gallagtor seems to understand.

Also, why are you downloading One Piece anyway? It's been liscensed, as you know, and doing that is technically illegal...

Personally, I wouldn't fuck with companies by downloading their liscensed goods, even if their work on it doesn't amount to much.

Actually, I'm on broadband, so I don't know what's wrong.

The reason I'm trying to download it is because, how things look right now, America may never get uncut One Piece. It's just sort've my way of combating 4k!ds (then again, it doesn't help that I watch their version :P ).

Combating is one thing, but breaking the law is another. If you were making a stand against their crap, that would be one thing (since their sales have been falling rapidly, if more people stop buying from them, they could very well go out of business,) but commiting a felony isn't really the right way to go about it, what with the crack down of piracy and stealing media etc.
Then again, it's your choice what part of the law, and 4Kid's you want to combat...

I don't blame people for downloading One Piece. I think it's unfair to tell people that they can't watch a show they like because some company is trying to turn a profit via biased marketing (only selling edited dub episodes). As long as you have the intention of buying the series (once it comes out uncut), I don't see any problem with watching the fansubs.

I downloaded One Piece a while ago, absolutely loved it, and starting buying the Japanese DVDs recently. So it's not like good things can't come out of downloading fansubs, and I'd actually think it's a good starting point for forming a movement to get uncut One Piece DVDs here in North America.

It's the people that have no intention of buying the series that I hate. They download episodes, burn them to a disk, and then make it their permanent anime collection. These are the abusers that we should hate, not the people who simply want to see the greatest anime currently out. Besides, like Son Goku was saying, 4Kids basically dug their own grave when they made their shitty dub and refused to release uncut DVDs. I know it's illegal to download this stuff in the US, but I think what's more repulsive is 4Kids iron claw around this series. I hardly ever support fansubs, but this one time I simply have to make an exception.

Thank you K-F for introducing me to this series, and screw you 4Kids for your asshole "cartoons are for kids" mentality.

I feel where your coming from, and I can see your point, DBW. However, I wonder if ripping them off is the right way to go about it? In technicality you are legally responsible for your actions, so if 4kids gets pissy, you could be eating your words.
Is breaking the law when it suits your interests, the sort of message you want to send impressionable youth who may be confused in their judgement, or to anyone who reads this forum?

Well, not me, I'd just come to court with my R2 collection and laugh in their face! :P

But yeah, your absolutely right. Telling people to download fansubs really is a bad idea, since you don't want people to get into the mindset of "Why pay for it when I can download it?" I don't support fansubbing of licenced series, and I certainly don't support downloading as a means of collecting an entire series. You really should never have a reason to download fansubs of licenced series, ever, period. It's illegal, don't do it!!!

So all you kids out there, don't download One Piece, it's a licenced series and downloading it is illegal! *cough* Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be looking the other way...

The whole thing with fansubs and series like One Piece and Pocket Monsters is that 4Kids makes it difficult to do otherwise. With both series, they seem to have little to no intention of releasing them subtitled in an official format, so fans more or less have no choice, unless they have an R2 DVD player, knowledge of Japanese, and a hell of a lot of money to throw around. One Piece really kills you, because they're skipping half of the series at this rate.

Thanks for agreeing with me. Most people have a bad standpoint on the matter (the "it's the net" or "I don't care, they wont do anything to me!!" stand,) and think that nothing can happen to them, even if they are ripping the companies off of hundreds of dollars, for everything they don't buy.

I like to preach legal acquisition as much as I am capable, because in the respect of actually dubbing the product, the company is doing us (as fans) a favor; which is not having to import them, but depending the quality, it might inevitably become necessary. (It's one reason why I have no grudge with FUNimation. They basically throw imports at us, plus their dub, for the same price; we're made in the shade, I say!)

As far as watching subs is concerned though, I think we've all done it once, for whatever reasons, but it doesn't make it right. I'll say (grudgingly) the only way to generalize the matter, is if it has not been licensed... but even then you're ripping off the Japanese companies who made it.

I understand how you feel, but it still really falls into the old category "buck up, or fuck up" so you've either got to accept what comes, or import, unless you're a thieving bastard, and then karma will kick your ass.

Give me the money and I'll be glad to import. :D This is a case of reality kicking you in the shins. You want to do one thing, but it's out of your power to do so, so you have to resort to another. 4Kids is simply giving us little to no choice and is treating us horribly.

Also, I lack a region-free DVD player. >_> Mine was broken awhile ago.

And one more thing - I myself don't have OP fansubs, though I do have some raws of Pocket Monsters. I just find it unfair to call people lazy and cheap because they have to resort to fansubs.

(I'm aware you didn't use that phrasing, I'm just covering bases)

In case anyone isn't aware, even if 4-Kids does start releasing some type of Uncut dvds of One Piece and possible some other of their animes, the Nintendo owned animes are off limits to release Uncut as Nintendo is quite strict and don't want their products being shown as they were in Japan (I wonder why :? ). This means that such animes as; Pokemon, F-Zero GP, and Kirby will not be released uncut any sooner than an uncut One Piece dvd. I'm actually gonna buy the first edit-version dvd just to add it to my collection (but ONLY the first dvd of 4-Kids' crap-ass dub is what I'm buying, nothing else of One Piece from them till they release it uncut).

Anyone who wants to read the manga, PM me and I'll provide you a link where a LARGE portion of the manga can be DLed, and English translated!

You aren't ripping off anyone who isn't expecting your money in the first place, and is trying to sell an alternate version of something that you're not generally supposed to buy, anyway. Larger Shonen Jump titles and popular series do not make their money back from DVD sales generally, moreso from their merchandising such as games, toys, clothing and whatever else. This isn't to say that you shouldn't pay for anything, if you like something, support it as much as you're able to!

And in the end, considering 4Kids reluctance to go further in regards to Japanese Animation and the general position they're in (and always have been), you're not actually supporting any Japanese company by supporting a 4Kids release (this isn't meant to sound like bullshit, fansub whore rhetoric, but bear with me). 4Kids obtained an on-going license for One Piece, aswell as merchandising rights (which is then given and sold to other places), so the money given to Japan has already been sealed. Weather or not a few Anime fans in the US buy or don't buy a high-rated Japanese series on DVD in an obscure release isn't going to make jack-shit of a difference to how the thing is actually made. It's always going to be based on the manga, and as long as they get millions of kids watching every week... well, you know where I'm going.

That said, I have raws and I import the Region 2 DVDs, but I don't expect anyone to do the same, since the companies in this circumstance don't give a shit about us either (If they wanted us to actually invest in an uncut release, it would be here by now. It's not, so they don't care, and there is no rights issues at stake here. )

Really? Hmm... That's strange... After all, on the Gamecube Game "Pokemon Channel" Nintendo actually supplied us with a raw of a Pichu Bros. special as an extra... Why would they allow a Pichu special but not anything else?

Hmm... This is drifting off topic isn't it... ^^;;

Because no matter what it is, the Japanese are horrendously, non-sensically inconcistient with any policy they have, and just are a nightmare when it comes to sensible anything.

It wasn't exactly a raw, it did have the dub voices. (except for, obviously, Pichu.) Unless you meant when you can unlock the japanese version (can you? Haven't rented it in a while.).

Oh yeah, and Conan, Pokemon dvds are pretty much uncut (more than the tv version). And one more to add to that list: Sonic X (Sega is as strict as hell with Sonic, causing Streets Of Rage 1-3 to not show up on the Gamecube in the USA).

Yeah, the Japanese version of the Pichu special is unlockable after you complete the game.
