My take on Names/Romanizations

So, there's a few threads that have popped up for this. So here's my takes on the names:

孫 悟空 -> Son Gokuu -> Son Goku: Just a straight up romanization, the second u was taken out since it's common to get rid of the second u.

ブルマ -> Buruma -> Blooma: Brings out the Bloomers pun a bit more.

神龍 -> Shenron -> Shenlong -> Godly Dragon: A translation of the original Chinese name.

ベジータ -> Bejita -> Vegeta: Since Vegeta comes from Vegetable, "Vegeta" makes the most sense in sake of the intended pun.

ナッパ -> Nappa -> Nappa: Nothing too complicated, just Nappa. Which is a pun of Chinese Cabbage.

ヤムチャ -> Yamucha -> Yamcha: Just got rid of the u. Since it's not really necessary.

亀仙人 -> Kame Sen'nin -> Turtle Hermit: A literal translation of this title.

ピッコロ -> Pikkoro -> Piccolo: Since his name is based off the instrument, Piccolo makes the most sense.

フリーザ -> Furiza -> Freeza: Since his name is based off Freezer but doesn't have the elongation at the end of the Katakana, Freeza makes the most sense.

クウラ -> Kuura -> Coola: It has a double meaning, plus to fit in with the "a" in Freeza, I went with Coola rather than Cooler.

クリザ -> Kuriza -> Kurieeza: I wanted to preserve the "Kuri" pun, but have it match Freeza. So, I choose a not as literal romanization.

クリリン -> Kuririn -> Kurilin: Kept the "Kuri" pun in, but kept the lin to match the well known "Krillin" romanization. I'd have it pronounced like Ku-ree-lin, but written Kurilin.

孫 悟飯 -> Son Gohan -> Son Gohan: As with Goku, just a straight up romanization of the Kanji.

孫悟天 -> Son Goten -> Son Goten: Same case as Goku and Gohan.

トランクス -> Torankusu -> Trunks: Comes from Trunks, like swimming trunks, just a straight up English word.

チチ -> Chi-Chi -> Chi-Chi: A literal romanization. It translates to boobs in some languages, if I remember correctly. The dash in the middle is a personal preference Chichi isn't wrong.

牛魔王 -> Gyu-Mao -> Ox Demon King: Gyu = Ox, and Mao = Demon King, think of Piccolo Daimao (Demon King Piccolo).

ブウ -> Buu -> Boo: I usually use Buu, but Boo fits in with the whole magic pun naming scheme like with Babidi, and Bibidi.

ラディッツ -> Raditsu -> Radits: Although it's usually romanized as Raditz, I went with Radits since it fits the Katakana more literally and its closer to the radish pun.

ザーボン -> Zaabon -> Zarbon: Just a literal romanization. The elongated a usually becomes an r.

神様 -> Kami-sama -> Lord God/God of Earth: A literal translation, Kami = God, Godly, Divine, etc. sama = Lord, Master, Sire, etc. Plus, as silly as it may sound, I wanted to avoid calling him just God. So that way people that aren't super fans would understand the job title without it sounding like the Christian God, which any dub of a kids show has a hard time getting around for whatever reason. Another possible choice s God of Earth, playing on FUNimation's guardian of earth. Still gets the point
across and isn't really inaccurate.

界王 -> Kaio-sama -> (East) Galactic Overseer: Not literal. I adapted this name. Kaio-sama does not translate to this, but I think it fits with his title/job without sounding awkward.

"Chichi" is a slang word for "breasts" in Japanese and Spanish. I think its use in Japanese came from Spanish, but I'm not 100% sure.

Except for "Kurillin", I don't care about something established by English dub.

Fair enough, I know what you mean; why compromise it to something from the English version. If I were to do it more literally it would just be the standard "Kuririn". I now edited it, I made it an in-between version of "Kurillin" and "Kuririn", Kurilin. I modified my adaptions of Kurieeza (Definitely not a transliteration), Kurilin and the title Kaio-sama.

I added a few more like Kacarott and Vegett, just now.

カカロット -> Kakarotto -> Kacarott: I felt it would look better adapted like this, Cacarott looks awkward to me, but, I still wanted to preserve the carrot pun.

ベジット -> Vejitto -> Vegett: Pronounced the same as Vegetto, but, with out the "o" at the end. I chose to adapt it this way as I would still go with Kacarott.

ドドリア -> Dodoria -> Dodoria: A literal romanization; not much to it.

アプール -> Apuuru -> Appule: This romanization is chosen to bring out the Apple pun.

ネイル -> Neiru -> Nail: Nail comes from snail, so that's the reason for this.

カルゴ -> Karugo -> Cargot: I went with Cargot since it comes from Escargot.

デンデ -> Dende -> Dende: A straight up romanization, I know it's something Japanese having to do with snails.

ムーリ -> Muuri -> Muuri: A literal romanization, same circumstance as Dende.

ミスター ・ ポポ -> Misutaa Popo -> Mr. Popo: Just a straight up romanization, not much to it.

ミスター ・ マーク ・ サタン -> Misutaa Maaku Satan -> Mr. Mark Satan: The man's name. A literal romanization.

セル -> Seru -> Cell: Since it comes from Cell as in one in every living being and a literal romanization.

天津飯 -> Ten ShinHan -> Ten Shin Han: A literal romanization.

餃子 -> Chaozu -> Jiaozi: A literal Pinyin romanization of the original Chinese term that rather than the Hepburn romanization that would have Chaozu came from.

一星龍 -> Yi Xing Long -> 1st Star Dragon: A literal translation, but I added the "st" so it sounds less awkward.

-> Liang Xing Long -> 2nd Star Dragon: I changed it to fit the others since Liang literally would be more like Pair.

三星龍 -> San Xing Long -> 3rd Star Dragon: A literal translation.

四星龍 -> Si Xing Long -> 4th Star Dragon: A literal translation.

五星龍 -> Wu Xing Long -> 5th Star Dragon: A literal translation.

六星龍 -> Liu Xing Long -> 6th Star Dragon: A literal translation.

七星龍 -> Qi Xing Long -> 7th Star Dragon: A literal translation.

I'm not even going to bother listing those that don't have any alternative spellings...

Son Gokū [I typically romanise long vowels with macrons unless it's inappropriate to do so. Sometimes I use circumflexes in more casual conversation if it's too much of a pain to copy-paste a macron.]

Shenlong [Just looks better to me without the space. I've used Shen-Long on occasion too]
Vegeta
Yamcha [This is actually how the tea is spelled in English, so... yeah]
Freeza [There's no real reason to use anything else]
Kuririn [Anything other than Kuririn or Krillin just looks wrong to me]
Chichi [putting a dash looks kinda weird to me]
Gyūmaō [Same reason as Gokū]
Radits [I like it better with an s, and there's nothing in the kana indicating there should be a 'z' at the end. Also, there's no double d in 'radish']
God [English word God already implies the respect conveyed by sama, so there's no need to get biblically awkward with stuff like 'Lord God']
Lord Kaiō [as a translation for Kaiō-sama, but I just refer to him as Kaiō in normal conversation]
Ten Shin Han [Name feels less awkward to read with the kanji as separate words]
Kame Hame Ha [Same as above, and avoids people erroneously pronouncing it as Ka-meh-a-meh-a]
Kakarrot [spelling it with Cs looks weird, and the double-r brings out the carrot pun]
Tāble [it's from 'vegetable', and hopefully the macron keeps people from automatically jumping to the pronunciation of the english word 'table']
Vegetto [Anything else just looks off to me]
Kaiō-Shin [No particular reason for the dash, just looks better to me]
Jiaozi [Correct Pinyin romanisation of the kanji. Chaozu is the japanese approximation of the chinese reading of the 餃子 (japanese reading would be gyōza) so using Chaozu is just as ridiculous as using 'Shenron' or even 'Torankusu']

Yeah, most of these for me are just personal preference. I understand where all of all of your choices are coming from. I understand using the dashed u so it's more proper; but, for English adaptations, it always looked out of place for me. Kacarott and Vegett where more a matter of follow the katakana rather than previously established adaptations. But, those two are just preference things. With (most of) these, I looked a them a not a literal point. I will adjust some these to yours. such as Radits (I originally had it as Radits,but for whatever reason I altered it 'cause I got confused about radish's spelling. I think I've seen Radits written as Radditz, which is what confused me). I will edit Chaozu to Jiaozi, and Tenshinhan to Ten Shin Han.
