I've been against Stephaine Nadolny's recast aswell, so I can give you some help if you want. Though, I know nothing about HTML and such, so I don't think you'd be able to use me. Either way, I support what you're doing.
Two quick spelling mistakes: "ill will" is two words and "redub" is one word.

I really like the design of the website, but I don't support the cause at all.

Yeah, the design is nice but I'm completely indifferent... Good luck though, I guess.batistabus wrote:I really like the design of the website, but I don't support the cause at all.

Is the "page" about poor Justin Chatwin really necessary? Are we still actually bitter about that? Either make it a serious info page about his role as Goku like the others, or don't bother.
Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm kinda in the same boat as Sun-Wukong and batistabus. The site is nicely made, but ultimately pointless.

I enjoyed Justin Chatwin's portrayal of Goku more than Stephanie Nadolny's.

It's just a joke. I don't plan on keeping the page, just like I don't plan on keeping the bit about a personals ad on Colleen Clinkenbeard's page. I was just trying to have a little fun to break the monotony of designing a page. I kinda like DBE, after all. And I have to disagree with you about the site being pointless. I think those of us who really want to see Stephanie Nadolny play Goku for as long as its still possible, it's a great resource for spreading the information, gathering thoughts, and sending a message to FUNimation. It's not pointless if you have a strong opinion about it. Kinda rude to dismiss the cause so tersely. I'm pretty well aware how effective it'll be, I just can't really sit by and just let it happen. I want to go down fighting. And there are others who think similarly. Maybe not here. But there are a bunch of us.Kaboom wrote:Is the "page" about poor Justin Chatwin really necessary? Re: Launching a (dub-based) website - KidGoku.com - Help Wan
It's not rude, it's the truth. FUNimation hasn't done any work with Nadolny in years outside of the video games, and it doesn't make any sense for them to go out of their way to work with an actress who doesn't even live in Texas anymore (if I'm remembering correctly), just for a small handful of fans who can't accept change. Most people have no problem with the new kid Goku, and it makes sense for FUNimation to use an actress they have easy access to instead of flying out someone who hasn't even done any voice work outside of Dragon Ball since 2003. Hell, I'm willing to bet that for every person who prefers Nadolny there's probably a person who prefers Clinkenbeard, so changing back to Nadolny would upset just as many people.

This is actually very helpful. I'll make a section to adress these criticisms. And no, Nadolny still lives in Dalas. That information is on her page on the site.

I'm on-board with folks like Taku128 on this one. The only thing I wish I could have helped with was digging up those four samples FUNimation put up of the various actor/actresses for fans to vote on a la the Pilaf and Shuu ones I still had. So... sorry
. I guess it's something you could at least note... if you didn't already...

Re: Launching a (dub-based) website - KidGoku.com - Help Wan
I can't say much on the content itself seeing as how I'm totally indifferent either way but I really love the website layout. It's pretty stylish and simplistic. There's something about it that makes me feel nostalgic. Kudos on getting kidgoku.com by the way.
Edit: Unless I'm kinda missing something is there anymore Kid Goku stuff to be dubbed? Or is this a "just in case there ever is" sort of thing?

That's a really good question. And off the top of my head, I can only say that a few TV education specials haven't been dubbed, but that's not likely to happen. Goku made a cameo on the new Dr. Slump, but that's not happening any time soon either. I'd say the only thing left are future video games. This is something I haven't addressed yet, so thanks for reminding me.

On your catalog of Stephanie Nadolyn's roles it list her as singing the first ending GT ending, which is incorrect. This is a common misconception on the internet, mainly on sites like Anime News Network and Youtube. This song is actually sung by voice actress Stephanie Young.
Re: Launching a (dub-based) website - KidGoku.com - Help Wan
I'm with people like Taku on the actual content of the website and the reason for its existence, but barring that and just looking at the site itself, I think its very well put together. It actually seems kindof a shame it was put together for a cause that I truthfully don't think will bear any fruit. I really doubt you'll get them to reinstate Nadolny.
What's more though, besides video games, where all you hear are taunts and grunts and fighting sounds, what other projects are there coming out that would require Little Son to speak? It seems like you're fighting for her reinstatement to a job that is (Pretty much) already complete.
Curse of the Blood Rubies is the only project the recase effects and it's already out... what, do you want them to re-release the DVD with a Nadolny Track? not going to happen.
One suggestion for the site though. I just tried clicking on a link to the page on Nozawa and got a 404 error. You may want to make a placeholder page of some kind that says "This section not yet complete" or something for those sections. Otherwise, it looks bad when links 404.

Personally, I remain fairly realistic about the effectiveness, as I've mentioned. I don't expect much to come from it at all. But it is something that I feel pretty strong about, and I know others do. Ultimately, my intent is to put up a little resistance. I do not want Colleen Clinkenbeard to play Kid Goku in future productions. I want to make sure I've done everything I can to prevent this from happening. What I'm doing here is organizing my thoughts and putting it out in a pretty and organized package, and hoping to find others to support the cause. From the looks of some of the names of those who have signed the petition, there are people from all over the world that feel the same way.DemonRin wrote:I'm with people like Taku on the actual content of the website and the reason for its existence, but barring that and just looking at the site itself, I think its very well put together. Now, I've given myself the job of trying to send this message to FUNimation. That won't be done with a few simple e-mails. I've already tried that. I sent FUNimation 3 e-mails on the subject, particularly pertaining to "Curse of the Blood Rubies". One at the initial announcement of the release of Movie 1, then another when the delay was announced, then the final when the cast was announced. I also encouraged others to do the same, and I know a few who did. Obviously this hasn't helped. So with this fun website, which is more (and will continue to grow) than just a whiny fanboy crying over petty recasts. It will be a useful resource for finding dates and facts about the many voices for Kid Goku. I will also post clips and comparisons for new readers to come to their own conclusion.
It looks good because (and this is a secret so don't tell anyone) I stole a bunch of resources from unrelated and unfinished projects that I produced in the past. The overall design was already put together from a portfolio I was working on but never finished, and the logo is a modification of the logo for a project that I canceled. It didn't take me much time at all to adapt what I had into something that looked nice.
That aside, I want it to look nice. If it looks like a Geocities site from 1999, then it won't be taken seriously. It has a sheen and presentation that I believe puts out a certain aura of professionalism. If one were to take a look at any of the projects I've done in the past, I believe they would agree with me that I don't hold anything back. If I can't put do something at 100%, then I don't do it at all. No matter how silly or pointless it is. It's all in the name of entertainment and accomplishment. I do love graphic and web-design. I have a lot of fun doing it. And I feel great seeing a finished product.
The site is a mess, and has been since I first put it up. It is nowhere near complete, and I don't plan on sharing it with anyone but this community until it is. For the few folks around here that feel the same, I want some ideas and tips. And from those who are violently opposed, I'd like to see what they have against it and use that to my advantage. I've already got a better idea of where to go based on the mostly negative reception I've gained so far. Overall, it's just something I'm working on in my spare time. I'm taking baby steps because I don't want it to feel like work. Once I have some sort of obligation to it, I'll put it off and never get around to completing it. And that would be a waste of $50 that I spent on hosting and the domain.
Oh, nonono. I don't expect FUNimation to redub anything. That's not going to happen. Not in this economic climate, not from that company. It's not feasible in the slightest. But I do want FUNimation to know that they made a mistake changing a beloved voice when nobody expected it and few wanted it. As a company that prides itself on adhering to fan wishes and requests, I'd like them to know that they disappointed me and many others with that move. This has nothing to do with Colleen herself. I think she's a great actress and I love her as Luffy and Gohan. But Miss Nadolny did fine in the role and there was no need or inscrutable reason for her replacement in this dub. It's just another inconsistency in an English version that has no shortage of inconsistencies.DemonRin wrote:What's more though, besides video games, where all you hear are taunts and grunts and fighting sounds, what other projects are there coming out that would require Little Son to speak? One of the points I hope to stress in the future is that we don't know what's coming. Surely, we thought the "job was already complete" before the recast. Or before the announcement of Dragon Ball DS or Dragon Ball Tenkaichi Daibouken. There could be nothing, and there could be a hundred things in the future. There is no telling. However there is telling that in future productions, I want to see none other than Stephanie Nadolny in the role. Personally, I'm willing to accept "Curse of the Blood Rubies" as a hiccup, and from the comments of those who signed so far, others are as well. Overall, though I don't expect it to bare and fruit, if there's even a small chance, a 1% chance that I could influence future casting decisions. Well, then I'm going to take that chance.

Since you only replied to the first part of my post, I just wanted to let you know there was a website-related suggestion I made, too:
