Pure-hearted people
I was wondering if we could make a complete list of all the people stated or implied to have a pure heart of good in Dragon Ball and/or ones that are seen riding the Kinto'un? If there are any I've forgotten or missed, feel free to let me know. This can include not only the manga and the anime, but anime openings, video games and the like.
Pure-hearted people
Dragon Ball
-Son Goku
-Kame-sennin (before some point)
-Chi-Chi
-Fat girl Goku brings to Kame-sennin
-Mermaid Goku brings to Kame-sennin
-Lunch (good)
-Arale
-The Gatchans
-Namu (only in anime)
-Upa
-Animals
-Babies (After Devilmite Beam, Baba says Goku must have the heart of a baby's or an animal's)
-The God of Earth
-Son Gohan
-Son Goten
-Kid Trunks (on Sparking! METEOR's main menu alongside Goten)
-Oob (in the Kanzenban ending)
Non-Dragon Ball

Re: List of those who can ride the Kinto'un
While they're never actually seen riding it, I'd have to wager that both Dende and God could probably use it, considering pureness of heart seems to be one of the job requirements for God of Earth. I seriously doubt Trunks could outside of that one video game opening, though. Also, it would probably be a good idea to not that Lunch's blue haired form is the only one actually seen to be able to ride Kinto'un. I'd wager her blonde one would just fall right through.

I was wondering if I should change to just people that are confirmed to have pure hearts. For example, when Akkuman's Devilmite Beam fails to kill Goku, Baba's reaction is that he must have the heart of a baby or an animal. Does this mean that babies and animals have pure hearts also?Kiyza wrote:While they're never actually seen riding it, I'd have to wager that both Dende and God could probably use it, considering pureness of heart seems to be one of the job requirements for God of Earth. And while God purged his evil in order to ascend to godhood, I don't know if saying he's pure-hearted is just speculation. It would make sense to have a pure heart to be a god, but I don't know if it's just assumption. Dende was only really chosen as a god because he was a Dragon Clan member and they needed someone to bring back the DBs because the previous God was dead.
And while Kid Trunks only rode the Kinto'un in that one videogame opening, perhaps it's still worth mentioning. It's official, at least.

Arale, the Gatchan, Upa and Nam (in the anime) are also shown to ride Kinto'un.

Animals and babies don't have evil intent, which I think is the same case with Goku.Piccolo Daimao wrote:I was wondering if I should change to just people that are confirmed to have pure hearts. I'm pretty sure it was stated, that you had to have a pure heart to even be allowed to visit God. That's what that bell Karin gave Goku was for IIRC. So that would mean that God(as in the first God of Earth we see) is pure hearted.Piccolo Daimao wrote:And while God purged his evil in order to ascend to godhood, I don't know if saying he's pure-hearted is just speculation. Gotenks is shown sleeping on a cloud in the opening to Sparkling! Meteor. Not sure if it is the Kinto'un or not. Chopper from One Piece is shown riding it in the ending of Battle Stadium D.O.N as well as one of the Dream 9 commercials. Luffy is shown riding it in Cross Epoch. Z from Neko Majin is shown riding it in two covers.

What about Mr. Popo? If he's God's attendant, he probably has a pure heart... At least I think so.

Yes, he does...of pure evil!Shnuki wrote:What about Mr. Popo? If he's God's attendant, he probably has a pure heart... At least I think so.

But seriously, he may do, but we aren't really given enough to say so for certain. It's safe to say gods require pure hearts of good, but assistants...maybe they don't need it as much.

Re: Pure-hearted people
Haven't seen him mentioned on your list, but Karin is most likely pure hearted. He should be able to or at one point, was able to ride Nimbus. While Roshi could have taken a piece like Goku did, Karin could have given him the one he personally rode back then. If anything, he owns the main cloud at least.

There's a typo in there, so I can't figure out what you're trying to say.Kiyza wrote:While they're never actually seen riding it, I'd have to wager that both Dende and God could probably use it, considering pureness of heart seems to be one of the job requirements for God of Earth. And yeah, Mr. Popo would probably be able to ride it.

I never realized that the characters displayed in the Nimbus are actually the only truly pure-heartedPiccolo Daimao wrote:-Luffy (One Piece)

For some reason I think Gotenks would fail to do soPiccolo Daimao wrote:-Son Goten

Re: Pure-hearted people
How do you know that you need a purely good heart to ride the Kinto'un? It only says the rider must have a pure heart, doesn't it?Piccolo Daimao wrote:I was wondering if we could make a complete list of all the people stated or implied to have a pure heart of good in Dragon Ball and/or ones that are seen riding the Kinto'un?

As in...you could have a heart of pure evil and still be able to ride it? Again, that's just speculation. It's not confirmed in the series, so as far as we know, you must be pure-hearted in the sense of being good to ride the Kinto'un.Rory wrote:How do you know that you need a purely good heart to ride the Kinto'un? Re: Pure-hearted people
In a filler episode, there's a dark counterpart to the Kinto'un only pure evil people can ride controlled by Karin. He gives it to Tai Pai Pai for a little bit. It's filler, not necessarily canon.Piccolo Daimao wrote:As in...you could have a heart of pure evil and still be able to ride it? Again, that's just speculation. I know about that, but because it has a different Kinto'un and it's filler, I didn't count it.roidrage wrote:In a filler episode, there's a dark counterpart to the Kinto'un only pure evil people can ride controlled by Karin.
