Dragon Ball animated series turns twenty-five this February!
February 26, 1986...the Dragon Ball animated series premiered on Fuji TV. Things were never the same again.
With less than a month until the big day...will any new project be announced?
Anyone have some general thoughts on the subject? Twenty-five is a big landmark, after all. Of course, I doubt any of us were around for that big day...but share some fond memories anyhow.

Really? That's great! I don't think we're gonna get anything that special for this occasion though, after all DBZ is the real money maker (and the one most people care about) and Dragon Ball, while awesome...just is...I can't describe.

They did do a 10th anniversary special for DB it's not impossible for them not to do anything special for Dragon Ball though.

25 years huh? It would be cool if we see a Kai version of the first DB anime soon after DBZKai is done.

And then I turn 25 nine days later! Those are my thoughts on this development.

I don't think we'll see anything for it, but it would be nice to be proven wrong.
And I literally did not exist back then.

Re: Dragon Ball animated series turns twenty-five this Febru
This series is really getting up there in age. Special projects for this anniversary...maybe. Strange things have happened in this fandom regarding announcements, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Regardless, there are a lot of major Dragon Ball anniversaries this year. 25 years for the anime (15 for GT in particular), Movies 4 and 5 turn 20, the DB 10th anniversary movie turns 15, and Dragon Ball Z premiered in America 15 years ago! I was alive when Dragon Ball Z premiered on Toonami in 1998, so I guess that's my "fond memory".
Which reminds me, Masako Nozawa will be 3/4 of a century old this year.
Off subject, but Mario and Donkey Kong are 30 years old as of this year too. That's hard to believe...

It's funny when you realize Masako Nozawa is older than Hayao Miyazaki.

Uh, didn't DBZ start on Toonami during 1998, not '96 (which was when it started American sydication)? I guess it can be confused...Shiyonasan wrote:

*Crosses fingers hoping for a new animated special/movie, but doesn't hold her breath*.
It would be nice if Toei does something to commemorate it though; would be awful if they cancel Kai only a few months after DB's anime's 25th anniversary.

Something like Yo! Son Goku and his friends return! would be great. A movie would be better but most likely will not happen as they most likely do not want to put that much effort into a 1 time event.

Ah, you're right. I just checked. Fixed my original post.metamoss wrote:Uh, didn't DBZ start on Toonami during 1998, not '96 (which was when it started American sydication)? I guess it can be confused...Shiyonasan wrote: Dragon Ball Z premiered on Toonami 15 years ago!
It did premiere in America 15 years ago, but on The WB and UPN. I actually don't remember that. The earliest I remember it on air was when it was on Toonami when Moltar was the host in 1998, which was when I first started watching it.
I was a young'un back then...
