Perfect? Only two games have ever been rated a 10/10 by Nintendo Power in its 23 year history: Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (though i think more still deserve it). And I just looked at the Holiday 2010 issue's Reviews archive for Wii, and it like most games get 7.5 or less, with only 29 higher than that (20 at 8-8.5), with the highest 9.5. The only over really high scoring (over 8.5) First Party games were the two recent Marios (SMG 2:9.5 and NSMBWii: 9.0) and Sin and Punishment 2 at 9.0.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:
I could have sworn NP used the star system...at least until about '07;or maybe it was PtOM.
EDIT:
While I can't speak for NP(I borrowed my friends), PtOM did use a star system at one point so maybe I got the two mixed up. Anyway, the point I was trying to make was I stopped caring about NP's opinion when they started over praising every game on the Wii even if it wasn't that amazing. That and almost all first party games got perfect scores.

Yea, they've had major changes since 07 (like the major redesign in 08 and not being published by Nintendo anymore).SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Ok, my mistake maybe my memory is hazy(we are talking four years now) but I didn't agree with them on many reviews so I stopped reading.metamoss wrote:Perfect? I think they are owned by the same people that publish PtOM and the Xbox magazine, but I'm not suremetamoss wrote: Yea, they've had major changes since 07 (like the major redesign in 08 and not being published by Nintendo anymore).

I didn't start regularly reading NP until mid 2008... so yeah. Namco Bandai, just translate the text, don't worry about the voices and release Ultimate Butoden over in North AmericaSparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Yes! This is the game I think they overrated for hype. It was fun and all, but the slowed down gameplay and what it did add, in my opinion, didn't make it better than Melee.metamoss wrote:Perfect? The speed is more on par with the original (I've played all three a ton). Final Smashes are fun and make sense, especially since Sakurai has wanted them since the first game (Smash Wiki it). The Subspace Emissary is theatrical with no dialogue, and tells its story well. Not just NP, but friggin Famitsu (Japan's top Gaming magazine) gave it a perfect (40/40) score.Great Saiyaman I wrote:This is the game I think they overrated for hype. Re: "Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butōden" Discussion
A bit late for this, but the DS being a third pillar thing was completely true. Nintendo said the DS would exist along side their console and Game Boy lines, but it was a pretty transparent attempt on their part to create a safety net. If the DS failed Nintendo could pretend it wasn't supposed to be their new handheld line, and release a successor to the Game Boy Advance.
The third pillar wasn't something IGN and Nintendo Power invented, and it would have been especially stupid for Nintendo Power to have to have reported on it if it were a lie, seeing as Nintendo itself was the publisher of the magazine at the time. Their reviews might not be good/trustworthy, but when it comes to news reporting both IGN and Nintendo Power are no worse than most other sites/magazines.

Wow, this topic sure has span outta' control!
Anyway, just thought I'd mention that apparently the 3DS will be region locked. So if you want to play Ultimate Butouden, it'll be on a Japanese 3DS, or a regular DS/Lite/i (that is if the DS games are locked along with the 3DS games).
This combined with 3-5 hours battery life really sucks, huh?

Wow, that looks pretty nice. Although whenever a punch connects it doesn't seem like it has the power it should, IMO.goku the krump dancer wrote:Heres a nice little gameplay montage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNyWLRvdf_g its pretty cool actually.
3-5 hours? That's a downer. I thought the whole point of portables was road trips and playing wherever, and you need long battery life for that. Don't wanna take my charger everywhere...Wow, this topic sure has span outta' control!

So, my question: do DS games even have region codes programmed into them? I mean, if they didn't reigon lock on the original DS, why would the games have that capability? And the 3-5 hours: better get a car charger to keep in my mom's van then!Rory wrote: Anyway, just thought I'd mention that apparently the 3DS will be region locked. I'm pretty sure there was some new animation (of Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks) in a trailer that aired during Dragon Ball Kai last night, so be on the look out for any new commercials!

2D, just like the opening of Dragon Ball Kai.
