Disappointing Purchases

Post by DragonBoxZTheMovies » Fri Jan 21, 2011 6:11 am

I've been lucky enough to never have been disappointed with a Dragon Ball-Related purchase, although I use to always be disappointed every time I rented a Dragon Ball DVD and it turned out to be scratched. Luckily it only costs about $3.00 to rent the things for a week.

I bought Budokai tenkaichi 2 on PS2 used and it came without the manual :(, ended up getting another, I also bough budokai 1 new but it was platinum, just when I realised there were videogames of DBZ and eventually I'll have to get that as a non platinum.
I also bought one of the seasons of DBZ off the net, when it arrived I opened it one of the discs had a mark and it messed up one of the episodes, I got it fixed but it cost me £3 to have blockbuster run it through their machine :(
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

DBZ orange brick #1.

(comedy drumroll)

The DBZ mousepad I bought last Otakon was a huge disappointment. The underneath side isn't rubbery enough to stay in place during casual use, never mind gaming or anything. I'm back to my 14-year-old South Park one (which is falling apart) because the underside is so amazing. Not even sure where I tossed that DBZ one... :(

I bought a couple little DBZ books/pamphlets a couple years back at Otakon, too, which turned out to be Korean. Couldn't tell from the outside, and they were packaged up and sealed off in a way that I couldn't have known without buying them. Oh, well. Not that they're bad, or anything...

I paid next-to-nothing for Taiketsu, but Sagas was a day-one, full-priced purchase for me... ugh... so yeah, that goes on the list...

I was disappointed when I received the "Tree of Might/ Lord Slug" double feature and the booklet type thing wasn't there. It was really annoying, and there wasn't any point in buying a new one.

I'll have to say Burst Limit for the PS3. Very nice to look at, but not fun to play. :?

At least you got the Cooler double, that's got to make up for it :)

On-topic, I actually haven't had any disappointing purchases. I would say Budokai 1, but that wasn't disappointing since I bought it at CEX for next-to-nothing and I'd always wanted to play it anyway. The gameplay's shallow, but the story mode was fun at least. I did sell it, though, when I was desperate for cash.

Some people in the UK may agree with me on this, but I bought one of the Big Green movies, under the illusion that we were finally getting some DragonBall released in the UK on home video. A VHS of "Super Saiyan Son Gokuu", or rather "Super Saiya Son Gokuu", i.e. the Slug movie. So in a way, doubly disappointing.

I don't think I'd learnt from the mistake as I received their dub of the second movie, too, which showed me that they thought every move Gokuu used was Kamehameha. No, sorry, "Kamayuh-mayuh!"

I bought the first blue brick which didn't come with the booklet. The disks worked perfect and everything, but I'm a little bit perfectionist when it comes to these things so that really annoyed me...

I bought Movie 4 "Super Saiya Son Goku" expecting it to be the dub FUNimation did...yeah I walked 2 miles back to the store and traded it for the Matrix and Bill & Ted a few minutes after sticking the disc in.

You consider the Big Green purchases disappointing? I'd be thrilled to buy those!

I guess, if people wanted shits and giggles, they can always go to Dragon Ball parodies like Abridged or WeeklyTubeShow.

All the Funi dbz singles I have (about 20 or so in all). While not disappointing at the time, the fact that there are Funi DBoxes out there now makes my singles a total waste of cash. I still need to figure out what I'm going to do with them.

I was pretty lucky to sell mine off in 2005-2006 when people were still trying to get them all.

That's exactly around the time that I bought my singles. XD Some used, some new.
It was that post-Toonami, pre-YouTube era when it seemed like a wise purchase because "OMG! I'm never going to see this show ever again! And I'm actually old enough to have disposable income now!".

I even have some Ocean dub dvd's, but those I'll probably keep.

Out of curiosity, would it be better to just try to sell the singles off on a place like Amazon or is it smarter to just hand them in at a place like FYE?

Dragonball final bout for the playstation 1. I remember how excited I was when I first brought the game and I invited all my cousins and friends to play with me. The game was so bad that my friends and family started to make fun of me as if I was the one who created the game.

I think "Sagas" (More like Sagass, man I miss Judgment Day  ), but I got that as a gift for the Gamecube for some reason (I think I forgot to remove it on my Birthday list back in 2005 since I rented game on the week that it came out). I would say "Taiketsu" but I got that game for like $5 back in 2005. I think $5 was a good deal for that awful game, and I don't think it was that awful of a game.

I don't think I had a bad Dragon Ball purchases yet. I almost bought DBE on Blu-Ray since it was like $20 on sale over a year ago at Toys "R" Us but choose not to buy it.
