Voices you are looking forward to for the Funi dub of Kai

Post by Ringworm128 » Sat Jan 22, 2011 9:24 am

For me.

King Cold. since his Z voice actor probably wont be reterning I'm really curious to see what they do with his voice. Will they just get some voice actor do his best impresion of Z dub King Cold? Or will they make him more like the Japanese version? Or will they do something compleatly different? Though I hope Brad Jackson reterns for the role. I also hope they keep the "whats a Goku?" line for at least the TV version.

Artifial Human 18. After Hearing her voice in RB2 I have to say Marandith Macoy has inproved a lot (at least I think its Marandith Macoy) and is now on par with Itou Miki. So I'm really looking forward to hearing her in Z Kai.

Artifial Human 17. Pretty much the same reasons as No 18.

Gohan (Buu saga). After watching a episode of Gurren Lagann I finnaly got to see Kyle Herbert in something else besides DBZ and SF4. I have to say that he has inproved so much since 2001 that it isn't even Funny. So I'm really looking forward to hearing him in Z Kai

Mr Satan. His voice in Z was perfect so who dosent want to hear it in Z Kai.

As of Raging Blast 2, Meredith McCoy no longer plays Cyborg No. 18. Her new voice actor is Colleen Clinkenbeard.]

Cyborg No. 17 is still Chuck Huber, so I'm rather disappointed... He sounds way too old, and, though maybe it was due to him being new to acting, he sounded stiff and robotic.

If Kyle Hebert can sound more like Brad Swaile, then I'll be happy. I thought Hebert's Gohan sounded too serious, while Swaile managed to bring out Gohan's personality more.

And yes, more Chris Rager, please! :D

Most of all, I'm looking forwards to Trunks. I hope he gets a new voice, or at least a better portrayal. The DBZ dub took away all his charm.

Wait.. I thought Stephanie Young (Robin in One Piece) is voicing #18?

If I remember rightly, Travis Willingham's supposed to be doing Cell now, and I really wanna see how that'll be.

Wow. You're the first person I've come across who dislikes #17, Boo arc Gohan and Trunks' voices in the FUNi dub.

I thought Trunks, the Artificial Humans and Cell had great voices even in the old dub, so I'm very much looking forward to hearing them with the improved script and renewed focus they are approaching Kai with. I'm hoping they give #19 a new voice for Kai, so I'll be waiting to see what happens with him as well. Can't think of anyone else right now really. The Cell and Boo arcs had decent voice actors even in the old dub, just suffered from the watered down script. I'm sure Kai will raise the quality of those arcs to an amazing level.

Nope. I just checked the credits for Raging Blast 2.

I know I'm not the only one. Surely there must be others who feel the way I do. If people like the voices/portrayal of the characters, then I'm assuming it's out of nostalgia. I simply can't imagine people truly thinking they're good. :/

I'm most looking forward to the usual suspects. Chris Rager as Mr. Satan, Kyle Hebert as Gohan, Chris Rager as Mr. Satan, Travis Willingham as Cell, Chris Rager as Mr. Satan, hopefully Duncan Brennan will return to voice Babidi. Did I mention Chris Rager as Mr. Satan? I did? Okay.

And technically this is the same voice, but I'm really looking forward to how Colleen Clinkenbeard chooses to portray Gohan during the Cell Games arc. Especially the transformation into SSJ2. That is going to be SUPERB!

It's not out of nostalgia. Just because I had been brought up by Sabat's Vegeta and Young's Freeza doesn't mean I like them. People, myself included, just like the voices. Funny how that is, isn't it?

At this point I'm not necessarily looking forward to anyone new. I plan on giving some roles a gander, but I don't expect much.

For the record, I'm not entirely hot on any of them either. Hebert's Gohan in an on-and-off good, Vale's Trunks has an irratating forcefulness to it and Huber's #17 has too old a sound to it.

Fair enough. I was just saying to linkdude20002001 that he was the first person I'd come across to dislike those voices. I personally found them fine and wish for them to retain their roles.

Is Kyle Herbert returning? He used to do the narration and I know that's out the window. I just hope he does return. I really liked his Gohan.

Well, he's done all of his other roles for the video games so I must assume so.

He's already returned as Ox King & Appule, so I'd say yes.

Definitely Chuck Huber as #17, Kyle Hebert as Gohan, Chris Rager as MR. Satan and Kara Edwards as Goten. Oh, and Eric Vale as 'The Tenkaichi Budokai' announcer.

Is Meredith McCoy really not playing #18 anymore? I know she was replaced by Colleen Clinkenbeard in the games, but she's being replaced in the show, too? She's still Maria Ross in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Why would they replace her as #18? She was so good as her.

I'm hoping that Kai continues into the Buu arc, as Kara Edwards is an excellent Videl and has probably gotten even better.

Anyone who's old actor hasn't been too involved with FUNi outside of DBZ games. So far, all those people have been replaced in Kai. So I guess that's 18, Buu, Dabra, Babidi(I hear he was replaced at some point in the games?).

I highly doubt Kara Edwards is going anywhere, she was in a recent game with the Kai replacements and has been in a few recent FUNi shows.
