SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
Re: SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
I actually saw a black fur blond hair SSJ4 done by someone, and it looked great. Way better than the red/black version from TOEI. You should check it out, I will try to find it..
Re: SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
It's not really proper buildup when it only starts a couple chapters before the form appears.Kaboom wrote:(though both with their own unique and proper build-up, so it worked)
Fur is hair. Why would only half of it turn gold?p123 wrote:I think black fur, with golden hair

For the same reason Saiyan's tail is brown.Rocketman wrote:Fur is hair. Why would only half of it turn gold?p123 wrote:I think black fur, with golden hair

Note: Vegeta also maintain his hair-style while in Oozaru

One word: Eww.
And Goku doesn't maintain his hairstyle when in Ozaru.

To show the combination of Oozaru and Super Saiyan... Jack Jack, do you remember the guy who did the recoloring? I mean this shit looked bad ass no lie.... I gotta try to find it....
Re: SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
What about the Oozaru with Super Saiyan hair that appear in New Sr. Slump?

Re: SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
No dude... I am talking about SSJ4, not Golden Oozaru. I think the Golden Oozaru look should be accurate ...
The SSJ4 look is not. Red/Black fur for no reason, especially considering that Golden Oozaru, is well golden, one would be quite confused to see a SSJ4 which is supposed to be a combo of Oozaru and SSJ, looks completely different than every other form...

SSJ2 was lazy. Good old SS1 is my fave. SSj2 was like Akira thought "Hmm I need the ultimate SSJ form. I know! I'll alter the hair a little bit and add sparks! Genius! Then I'll make it useless after Gohan kills Cell!"
Simian upstart...none surpass me. No one even comes close! BURN THIS INTO YOUR MIND! I am emperor of the universe. The likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet. Or better still...to be crushed...LIKE AN INSECT AT THE WHIM OF YOUR MASTER!

SS2 is great as the "perfected Super Saiyan" it was made to be. As a separate form, it's the worst of the four.
Re: SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
I always thought SSJ2 was the more pointless transformation.
At least you could tell if someone was in SSJ3 or another form in both anime or manga with no argument.
SSJ is still the best in terms of plot lead up and design.
SSJ4's design was different, but It worked for me. I liked it a lot. The lead up was repetitive though. I also wish Goku didn't use the ultimate SSJ form on fodder dragons or falling buildings in GT. Kind of ruins how badass the form actually is in other regards.
I agree with Herms though, it would have been repetitive and predictable if SSJ3 was the climax of the arc like the last two SSJ forms were.
I also agree with Savage, in that it truly isn't actually an anticlimactic form in that SSJ3 would have gotten the job done, if it wasn't for Goku's ridiculous excuse for his incompetence. Just because it didn't beat the final boss doesn't doesn't make it an anticlimactic form. It kind of had to share "room" with the different times of Fusion.

Well, since SSJ2 was introduced and the adventures continued, there had to be an another, the most unreal Saiyan transformation. I always liked SSJ3, it's badass. While the user may seem out of their usual appearance, the form tells that the user went trough a very drastic transformation and is now a lot stronger.

The Goku Super Saiya-jin 3 transformation scene was amazing. It was the original Goku Super Saiya-jin 1 transformation that was anti-climatic.

^This.
I agree 100%.
After watching DBZ a gazillion times, I always felt that the first transformation could have been more bad ass. There was no "pop" to the transformation. No snap.
His hair color basically wavered back and forth and then POOF it was done.
I wanted to hear a big "KA-POW" or something similar to how the Saiyans transformed from then on. It's almost as if Toriyama hadn't quite worked out the kinks yet on how to make the transformations more spectacular. Granted, the build up was awesome but I think that first transformation needed a bit more flair.
The SSJ3 transformation was by FAR the best. It went on for like 5 minutes!!
(Which I thought was awesome)

Are you solely referring to the animated version of Goku's first SSJ transformation?Questrider wrote:^This.

Because I don't think Toriyama had much to do with how the anime portrayed it...
In the manga Goku snaps and goes SSJ immediately, which DBZ Budokai portrays nicely.
Re: SSJ3 Transformation - Anticlimactic?
I think the execution was good!
Kikuchi's score was great as always and i loved the scene where Goku is shown at different ages, i'm not sure if it was intentional but it seemed like they were trying to portray the rebirth of Son Goku.
I am not too fond of ssj3 as it seemed to be disposed of quickly when the fusions came in unlike ssj1 which was the key factor to beating freeza as well as ssj2 being the key factor for defeating cell.
I agree with Herms that the constant cycle would become boring but i would have loved to see SSJ3 make more of an impact in the buu saga.

"No. A sword is a weapon. Kenjutsu is the art of killing. Whatever pretty words you use to speak of it, this is its true nature. What Miss Kaoru says are the words of one who has never dirtied her hands. An idealistic joke. But, I like Miss Kaoru's idealism better than its true nature. If one can ask so much, I want the world to accept this joke as its true nature."
