How did some of you younger fans find Dragonball?

Well, I'm 15, and I do consider myself someone with a good memory, so I remember seeing Dragon Ball Z on KidsWB! way back in 2000/2001 during Pokemon.

I thought DBZ was on KidsWB! back in 1998 or 1999 for a short time? Since I remember watching the episode when Bulma and Gohan arrived on Fake Planet Namek was on just before "Men in Black: TAS" was coming on.

I'm pretty sure I'm rather old for this thread since I will be 20 in May. Here is my full story for the other thread.

It was around 1997 when my Dad got me a VHS copy of Dragon Ball vol. 1 for my birthday since he bought it because he thinks I would like it since I was a huge Godzilla fan (I'm still a huge fan) and loved other Japanese movies like "My Neighbor Totoro". I thought the show was wired at the time but both of my sisters like it. Then in 1998 when I was waiting for "Beast Wars" to come on on Toonami and they where playing the episode when Goku was wish back. I had no idea what was going on and I thought the show look wired.

In 1999, DBZ was very popular in the 3rd grade and I wanted to check it out because everyone seem to love it. I saw the episode where Piccolo was fighting Freeza in his second form and I thought the show was stupid as hell. I hated DBZ at the time and I thought it was the worst cartoon ever. It was until 2000 when I was watching the Midnight run of DBZ on Toonami when they where playing the battle with SSJ2 Gohan against Cell, and I thought it was awesome.

Then my friend of mine got me into the series when the "Ano Yo-ichi Budoukai" arc was playing on CN at the time and I insanity got hook on the series. I would re-watch the older episodes on CN at the time, buy the recent issues of Beckett DBZ, and used the internet to learn more things about Dragon Ball. The rest is history .

Yeah I might be the only person on this site who hated the series at first then love it afterwards.

My dad saw an episode of the Buu saga during a buisness trip in early 2001 on the International channel, right in the middle of the Cell arc airing on CN. He's all like "there's gonna be more DBZ!", and I'm all like "how do you know? Ahh my brain hurts trying to figure it out!"

The idea of a man in a business suite getting excited over DBZ is probably the coolest image ever. It's sounds like something in a comedy movie were everyone is watching CNN or something and there is your dad watching DBZ!

Nope you're not. I was the same way. I remember when DBZ was popular back in 2000, and everyone in school loved it. Burger King had the pewter figure promo around that time, and I remember getting a Vegeta, and I gave it to one of my friends who liked the show. I could identify Goku easily, but thought Vegeta's name was Freeza. I didn't get into Dragon ball until the summer of 2008 when I saw the Saiyan saga online, and then went back and watched the whole series, and now I own the whole series (DB, DBZ, DBGT, movies & TV specials) on DVD.
