Jeice's name is actually a play on "cheese", since in Japanese they pronounce his name "Jees". Guldo or Gurudo is a play on "yogurt". And no the spelling of "Gokou" is not an accurate translation. Neither is "Gooku", those are just really bad Asian spellings that you tend to get in Hong Kong pirating jobs. I don't feel the spelling of "Frieza" is very accurate either. That just makes no sense when you're looking at how vowel combinations in Japanese are pronounced.

The forum died or something as I tried to post this last night...
1/ What exactly do the words souki, dan, genki, and dama mean?
Soukidan is really just one word (I mentioned spacing preferences the other day, and got accused of showing off :?). Sou means wind or turn. Ki most people may know. Dan means bullet or shot. So, "winding ki shot", you could say.

Genkidama is just a combination of genki (feeling good, full of life) and tama (ball).
2/ If the Saiyans all come from planet Vegeta, shouldn't they be called "Vegeta-jin"?
Saiyans are just a race on Planet Vegeta. People could call them Vegeta-sei-jin, but that's like calling humans Earthlings.

There's still Nameck-sei-jin, but I'll bet Toriyama was just feeling uncreative as to think of a specific race name (maybe he ran out of snail/slug words to make puns from?).

It does follow sci-fi though, where almost every single alien race is named after the planet they are from.

Obviously humans are unique.

And, er, Klingons.

Anyway, "Spirit bomb" doesn't seem to be that far off. "Spirit ball" sounds more accurate, but it's hardly on the same level as "destructo disc". And, to be honest, if they had to put it into English, "Spirit Bomb" does sound a bit cooler than "feeling good ball". And it is a fairly good description of the thing itself...a massive energy bomb made up of everyone's spirit.

Goku: I have to use my ultimate attack against Freeza! It's the Feel Good Ball of doom!

Freeza: Oh no! It feels so good!! Arrrgh!!

I am extremely sleep deprived. Disregard this post.

TripleRach: Who accused you of showing-off? Your translations are really good. Grrrr! Zacko, Dayspring, and myself will put them on our "Hunting List", the disrespectful swine! :x

Nah, it was nothing at all, and didn't bother me much.

Now, what does bother me is rabid fanboys and fangirls, so you guys can just do your normal hunting. :D

The S wrote:...and yes, even Gokou is as accurate of a translation as Toriyama's own romanizations (Gokuh, Gokuuh, Gooku, etc.)
Gokou if pronounced the way you have written it down, would sound more like "Goko" than "Goku".

And I've just realised why all of Ginyu's attacks in Budokai are named after dairy products...

It was PsyLiam. I found it through the list of TR's posts.

You know, PsyLiam, I could take off that huge chin with one Kusari-Gama movement. You better watch who you mess with...

Nah, let him live Zacko. TripleRach said not to worry about it and concentrate on hunting the rabid fangirls and fanboys instead. And he is still a DB fan. Besides, he can go through the rest of his life and grow old feeling guilty for being a meany. Plus, we'll just find out where he lives and cut all the heads of his Transformers and Powerpuff Girls figures instead.

As long as it was just the Headmasters, I think I could cope.

And if it helps, I hate fanboys and fangirls too. I can aid you in your quest by giving them a really servere stare. They won't know what hit them.

Jerseymilk: That's some really... sexy thinking. :)

Nah, I just get really hyper when I see an opportunity to cut something. I'm like that weak Samurai that Gatou hired in Naruto. You do follow Naruto, don't you?

PsyLiam: Or you could just hit them with your chin. (ahh! get it out of my head!)

Well, I for one think we could use an agent overseas Zacko. At least maybe you could do some spying for us Liam? Plus you's seems likes a smart guy. :P What do you say Zacko? We'll have to ask Dayspring too I guess. By the way, Zacko are you sure you're not more like Dilandau from Escaflowne?

I do feel the need to point out that that my avatar is not actually an exact likeness.

Which I hope is true for most people. Fair enough, looking like Zoro isn't necessarily bad (I can see advantages), but Jerseymilk must have REAL trouble getting a date...

No, no that's my personal pet "Tora"! Gotta have one of those around, for scaring off the Jehova's Witnesses that come calling. Well, actually eating the Jehova's Witnesses that come calling, but hey, same difference!

My stuffed custom Pikachu does that for me. Yes, he eats them.

Sure, he can join. Good to know that you don't actually have that chin.

Dilandau, huh? Well, I don't know about th- Aww shit, the teacher is coming, and I've been moved to a place where I can be caught easily... plus I have a detention for this class... Like I'm going to go.

Oooooh, Zacko's becoming a delinquent! See? You are like Dilandau! Or I guess maybe more like Naruto, since he's more of the "act out in school" type. Unless you like starting fires and gazing hypnotically into them. Then you're definitely Dilandau!

As I was saying, I don't know about that. I'm fairly quiet and I get the in-class work done, but I will always do "silent acts of slacking off".

Of course, I type about a quadrajillion times faster than anyone else in the class, so it gives me time. My teacher thinks that there's hackers or evil computer magic every time a computer isn't working. I could do her job better.

My Pikachu speaks english, sucks down ketchup bottles like crazy, and shocks everyone he sees. Ehhehe...

Ya, but my pet "Tora" can beat up your Pikachu. In fact, he'll take on a hundred Pikachus! Yihah! :D

EDIT:OMG! I've just made it to "OMG Crazy Regular" level! These titles are so cool EX!
