I don't know. There's no reason for it not to be.

I think you are mixing this thread with the Zenkai Battle Royal thread.

I heard EX specifically mention Ultimate Butouden on the podcast.

Unless that was a mix up on his part...

For a comparison, DragonBall DS 2 came out in Japan 11 February 2010 -- we didn't hear a peep about it for North America until GameStop leaked the release date and cover art in late April (noted as coming out in June, which it did).

So yes, it's very possible that a game due out in Japan in a little over a week is indeed coming to North America and just won't be announced for a little while.

On the other hand, these games are selling like garbage (particularly the portable ones). Furthermore, it's a standard Nintendo DS game that will be due out during the exact same time frame as the 3DS, the system that's replacing the older model. Yes, there have been some great games that came for the previous generation on the cusp of the next generation, but this is licensed material bordering on shovelware -- hidden gem of awesomeness it is likely not.

Is Namco-Bandai over here in the US really going to want to put in the effort to localize the game, distribute it, and do even the most minor amount of marketing for a game that's not for the new hotness? The DS has a huge installed base, sure, but this thing's going to get lost in the shuffle more than usual. They shut down their main online portal ("Goku's Corner") as of the end of the year (though I think it slipped into early this month), so it's not like they're doing a whole lot with the franchise right now.

Honestly, I could see it going either way.

Aw, I didn't know "Goku's Corner" closed. :(

I'm still on-and-off slogging through the end of Dragon Quest 9's storyline (and wow does it get slow and boring once you reach Gittingham Palace, I feel like all I'm doing is mindlessly grinding because of how strong the bosses are; I so preferred traveling around to the different towns and going through all those mini-arcs.) so having Ultimate Butōden released around early spring would be ideal for me.

Honestly, I never cared for 3-D, it's never been one of my favorite gimmicks, so the idea of a game system that has it does absolutely nothing for me. :p

However, I will eventually get a 3DS (I'm aware I can shut the 3D feature off) once they stop making games for the regular DS altogether and something comes out for the newer system that I really want to play.
On hiatus.

Wow, Goku's Corner shut down? Dang, I didn't know.

If the game does come out I don't think they'll bother to dub it.

I hope that they release Ultimate Butoden over here, even though I got my 3DS preordered. I'm also excited for Pokemon Black and White, and now that I got my sister hooked on FireRed and I'm gonna give her my DSi when I get my 3DS, I predict LOTS of trading and battling will ensue. Back on topic, the game sounds promising and exciting. Hopefully Namco Bandai will be smart (or dumb, I'm no business expert) enough to release it in North America. And if they brand it with Dragon Ball Z Kai, the kiddies who watch the show and have DS's will probably snatch it up.

These games still make money, I'm pretty sure Bandai Namco will release it here in the US since they can still make a good profit out of the fans. I mean these games main traget audience are the fans afterall. I'm still I have my DS and I doubt I will get a 3DS until later this year around X-mas time anyways.

As expected, Gogeta appears again without Janemba, but I'm not unhappy about that. It's been like that since Budokai 3, and besides, Gogeta's a cool character. We also have the familiar non-canon duo of Bardock and Broli back. As there are no transformations listed for Broli, he's probably in his Legendary Super Saiyan form.

I see Boo arc Gohan's missing his Super Saiyan 2 form. I found Dr. Gero there, but not #19 a little bit weird, though. And "Mystic" Gohan and Super Boo's absorptions are missing too.

Overall, it doesn't look bad for a DS game. Not too big, not too small. I wonder who the unknown character will be...

Appule or bust.

Getting pretty psyched for the game to ship this week. No way I'll have it this weekend, but hopefully the weekend after I'll be sinking a crapton of time into it.

I'm still waiting for a possible US release. If we don't get it, I'll definately import it, though.

Indeed, Brolli is in his huge, muscular form. Gotenks is in the game, though. He's just below boyhood Trunks.

Namco Bandai appear to be having a 2011 lineup reveal tomorrow, so I imagine if we're going to get a localization any time soon, tomorrow would be a good day to find out.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
