Hello, my first post.

I remeber when Songoku goes to Dr.Flappe with Monster No.8 (that is how they called him in the german dub so I don't know the japanese naming) to remove the bomb with which was he controlled by General White. When Dr.Flappe performed the bomb removal we clearly see the insides of Monster No.8. If my memory still uses me we don't see any organic parts of which is Monster No.8 composed. There are metal boxes and circuits all over. Anything that resembles a human organ is a silver heart that is even beating.

We can assume that he was created originaly by Dr.Flappe as an adding to White's arsenal like Buyon and the robot that was guarding the 1st or 2nd floor. As I mentioned in the german dub he was named Monster No.8 and I don't recall any reference later that he was part of the jinzôningen series by Gero.

Toriyama called him that because of his external physical features (a reference to the Frankestein's monster). The number 8 could mean Flappe's eight attempt to create a soldier for White.

A possible member of Gero's jinzôningen series would be the aformentioned robot guard in the Muscle Tower.

Edit: IMO the robot guard is also the spoof on the Terminator

I fucking hate it when people use images that aren't funny to make some kind of statement on an Internet message board.

Again... let the moderators do their job. You're not a god damn moderator. How many times do you have to be told before you just get banned?

Oh yeah, I'm sure he'll take that to heart now, EX. Sheesh. Have you considered putting something about moderating in the forum rules? It might save you some grief.

When people have been warned about specific things before, I fully feel I reserve the right to say whatever I want to say to them about it. If you can't follow what you've been told to do from the forum administrator, you don't have much of a recourse in an acceptable "comeback" or any kind of feeling on what you're told.

It's generally not so much a problem of adding something to the rules... people don't read them, anyway. It's a very individualized problem with very individual people, and they need to start taking the hint.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread and conversation... I do not want a single further response on anything else.

No. 8 is refered to as a "jinzoningen" in the Japanese version of the series, and the manga does list No. 8 as one of the andriods created by Dr. Gero.

As for Dr. Flappe; the spelling should be "Dr. Frappe".

Well, my mistake. I haven't read the manga or watched the Japanese version so I didn't know.

The entire Dr. Frappe episode was also just filler made by TOEI to avoid catching up with Toriyama, and since Toriyama himself directly contradicted this episode years later, when he introduced Dr. Gero... well, don't think too much about that episode when it comes to this subject.

Has anything ever been said about the relation, if any, between #8 and #16?

8 x 2 = 16 (obviously), and their personalites/outlooks/stature are very similar. Coincidence?

Methinks you're reaching. #19 and #20 were taken, as were numbers 17 and 18. #16 was made prior to #17 and #18, so I think Toriyama just took the first number that comes before 17 to designate #16 as.

But we never hear of #9-#15 do we? So why did he go that far? If not to indicate the likeness between 8 and 16?

We hear of #13-#15 in Toei Animation's 7th DBZ Movie :P

Although that isn't part of Toriyama's manga...

Let's just say it's safe to say that in anime DB, Dr. Gero did create #8 body-wise, but Frappe used his own home based energy to bring him to life as well as implanting the bomb. People remember, the anime is an adaptation, not an exat copy-pasting, there ARE plot elements that differ in the anime from the manga (Dodoria killing Kargo instead of Freeza, the way Future Trunks goes SSJ, Kid Buu being stated to be the strongest Buu in the anime).

Off topic, though it's quick, what form of Buu does the manga refer to as the strongest?

Super Buu 3 (the one with Mystic Gohan) is the strongest in the manga and anime both. He even goes so far as to say he's the strongest. Kid Buu's power falls between Fat Buu and Super Buu and Buff Buu is somewhere between Super Buu and Super Buu 2 (the one with Gotenks).

Toryiama-sama doesn't put that much thought into things. He jumped up to 19 and 20 to show that Gero had done a lot of work since DB and developed Androids far stronger than 8. And then was forced to make 2 new ones and for some reason, instead of calling them 21 and 22, he called them 17 and 18. 16 was just thrown in for the heck of it.
