Dragon Ball Z Kai now airing in Korea
After some searching, I found out that Dragon Ball Z Kai is now has a Korean dub (yes it has the "Z" branding just like all the other foreign dubs). It airs on the popular anime channel "Anibox" and the openings and ending are dubbed into Korean.

Freeza's voice was horrible. Did they put a woman in that role?

In Korea, Freeza was acted by a woman in DBZ, too.DB_Fan1991 wrote:Freeza's voice was horrible. Did they put a woman in that role?

I could tell right away that Freeza was voiced by a woman. He sounded like an evil old witch when he was laughing.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai now airing in Korea
There are 3 dubs of Z in Korea. In Champ dub, the most popular one, these characters were dubbed by woman: Krilin, Freeza, Future Trunks, Teen Gohan, Sharpner, Kaioshin, and every childDB_Fan1991 wrote:Having never seen the Korean dub I didn't know that.kei17 wrote:In Korea, Freeza was acted by a woman in DBZ, too.DB_Fan1991 wrote:Freeza's voice was horrible. Wait, I thought there were only two dubs, the SBS and Champ dub? Which dubs, dubbed which episodes?

Champ dubbed all DB/DBZ/GT episodes. I don't know much about the SBS dub, but at least it was cancelled about in the middle of Z. Tooniverse dubbed the Android arc and the Buu arc of Z, and all of GT episodes.wjbraden wrote:Wait, I thought there were only two dubs, the SBS and Champ dub? Which dubs, dubbed which episodes?

Wow! Besides Freeza, everyone else in the first episode sounds fantastic. I'm especially loving Kuririn and Raditz.

Oh geez. The opening was dubbed on top of the karaoke version with Japanese backing vocals

Gohan, Kuririn, Bulma, and Raditz sound pretty good. Not fond of Goku's voice. Not sure about Piccolo's.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Gohan sounds so cute in this. Kuririn and Bulma's voices were just as good. To me, It sounds as if Mayumi Tanaka and Hiromi Tsuru are speaking Korean.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai now airing in Korea
Not only that, but the very end of the Opening fades out before the guitar solo near the end of the Japanese single. Man, talk about being lazy!Puto wrote:Oh geez. The opening was dubbed on top of the karaoke version with Japanese backing vocals
Anyways, I thought most of the voices were pretty damn good, with the exception of Freeza, who sounds... Well, creepy.

Forum quote of the moment:

DBZ bootlegs have the movie 9 cover with the pioneer movie 2 description on the back and the disc actually has a Japanese soap opera in MEPG2.

Pretty good dub. I think I'm gonna laugh my ass of when they get to the Freeza saga.
Can you please post some audio clips?kei17 wrote:In Korea, Freeza was acted by a woman in DBZ, too.DB_Fan1991 wrote:Freeza's voice was horrible. Did they put a woman in that role?

Freeza sounds hideous in the Korean dub. Can't comment on everyone else yet. I only looked at the Korean dub briefly. Still waiting on TVB for the Cantonese dub whenever that shows up.
The world is your's.
