The fact, that Vegeta questions Gohan's request seems odd, if he could take Piccolo in regular form. Vegeta would do anything to face Kakarotto anyways(going as far as letting a wizard enter his mind), so what he said about being the strongest without SSJ was directly contradicted by his actions.

Also Goten and Trunks in SSJ are not that much stronger than #18. If Gohan is way stronger than this in regular form, then why did he fight Goten as a SSJ, when he didn't intend to fight as a Super Saiyajin at the Tournament?

He might also think the request is odd simply because he wishes to fight Kakarotto going all out, using everything he has at him and finds the idea of suppressing himself to his base form through the whole tournament unusual.

On the note of Goten, he and Trunks fought well with #18 in their base forms and going by the assumption that multipliers are the same all through DBZ, he is up to 50x stronger than #18 in his SSjin state, which is a huge difference.

That is possible, however as we know Vegeta would do anything in his might to fight Goku anyways, so it's not far fetched to assume he'd go SSJ, if needed.

Yeah, but that is contradicted by Trunks thinking they still were at a disadvantage in the suit. If they were 50 times stronger than #18, it wouldn't be that much of a problem dealing with her, even though they can't move around that well.

That's just the way I feel. Putting Regular Saiyajins above Piccolo seems crazy to me, when Piccolo doesn't think it's worth mentioning that even Regular Saiyajins have surpassed him.

That's true but it's still strange that neither Gohan or Vegeta, who both agreed to not go SSjin, once ever even mentioned anything regarding Piccolo being a possible problem.

That's what he thinks, but going by actions, they were holding their own in their base forms and #18 got terrified after they attacked once in their SSjin forms. Also, concerning the two kids, Piccolo was pretty shocked at their powers when they powered up in front of him and Goku, but Goku wasn't at all.

I have to agree mainly because of how heavily it screws with the power levels. Either Piccolo needs to be insanely weak or the power boost of mastering SSjin needs to be godly.

The craziest thing would probably have to be "The dub music sucks," which in return makes me giggle.

That comment is a little off putting. A lot of the dub music isn't as bad as most of it's detractors make it out to be, but there are definitely plenty of tracks that are simply misplaced beyond belief...

#18 probably didn't go all out, especially because she was thinking she was fighting a regular human, however in the manga she is shown to have a significant advantage over Trunks and Goten in their base form, and once they turn SSJ she get pretty scared by a blast fired from Trunks finger... =/

So for me it's clear that Goten and Trunks are much weaker than her in their base forms, but are incomparable stronger than her in their SSJ forms (as expected since they can match the Full-power SSJ Gohan and Vegeta, etc)

IMO Gohan just didn't think of Piccolo at the time and was more concerned with his image. And it's never actually stated, if Vegeta knew Piccolo would be participating in the tournament before the quote was made.

#18 was more than likely holding back, since her husband told her to.
And it's kinda subjective what that's supposed to mean. Piccolo could be surprised, that they are this strong without them having surpassed him.

I think Trunks' quote about being unable to win in their costume, even when being SSJs speaks levels about their strength....

She held back to not accidentally destroy some random weakling Earthlings like Jewel, I don't see why she'd hold back against somebody who was fighting almost on par with her if she could just power up enough to one-shot them.

Considering the English dub is what was and is being shown on TV and what the vast majority of American DB fans are exposed to first I don't see how somebody watching the English Dub is crazy. Granted, I do think that anyone who has seen the Japanese Dub and still prefers the English is insane as I find the English Dub to be painfully cringe-worthy but it's all opinions.

Vegeta doesn't have to say, that Piccolo is a problem, when he admits before taking of to join Kaioshin, that he only showed up at the tournament to fight Goku, making it entirely possible that he would've gone SSJ, if needed to.
It's Gohan who is the problem here.
CatouttaHell wrote:#18 being scared as hell of a ki blast that Trunks fired at her contradicts them being at a disadvantage.
No, because if they got 50 times stronger than #18, they could have just flown straight at her. No matter how disadvantaged that costume may put them, if they really were that strong, they could have repeated what they did to her in base form 50 times better.
And the ki blast doesn't contradict anything. They are at a disadvantage, because they can't move around that well and so decides that ki blasts is the best option from their position.
CatouttaHell wrote:She held back to not accidentally destroy some random weakling Earthlings like Jewel, I don't see why she'd hold back against somebody who was fighting almost on par with her if she could just power up enough to one-shot them.
#18 was holding back, otherwise she would have known, that the Super Saiyajin kids surpassed her, since she has been living for Krillin for the last 7 years and he has probably told her by now, that SSJ makes one incomparable to his regular state, yet #18 didn't consider them a challenge, before they fired that kiai cannon.

Agreed, I like the dub music by its self, but Funi seems to missplace it.

Gohan didn't even care about winning the Budokai. He only entered because Videl blackmailed him that if he didn't, she'd expose him as the Great Saiyaman. He just wanted to conceal his identity.

Gohan when flying towards home stated that he wanted to win. It's right there in volume 36/viz 20. That's the sole reason why he wanted to train. To become good enough to win the TB.
