Budokai 3 Collector's Edition in the U.S.? Maybe!
I just went over to 1up.com and they have short article about Atari's upcoming Dragon Ball releases. This is a excerpt from the end of the article:

I'm debating selling my Budokai 3 for the money to get the new version... not sure of that yet though. I've got other games I don't like so I might sell/trade them instead, that way I'll have both versions of B3...

I'm pretty sure that the only song different in the Japanese version of Budokai 3 is the intro, and that's only because it has the vocals intact.Son Goku wrote:Wow, this is excelent! I didn't get it the first time around, and now I can for Christmas.. at a cheaper price!
Of course, this could crash and burn if it doesn't have the Japanese music (like Budokai Tenkaichi).
Otherwise the music is the same.
My suggestion is trade in the other games you don't like, then get the "Greatest Hits" copy and put it in the case for Budokai 3. Of course, you'll still have the other game, but at least you don't have to deal with the crappy (in my opinion, anyway) "Greatest Hits" box art.Xyex wrote:I'm debating selling my Budokai 3 for the money to get the new version... not sure of that yet though. This is a pretty neat move on Atari's part...I'll pick it up once it's out.
Find me on:

Yeah but they say you have to "unlock" the japanese voices.
Not complaining but I haven't even unlocked all the characters yet
, mainly due to the fact I haven't touched the game for a long while. I just hope all the stuff I did unlock is compatible with the new version and not have to start a new game from scratch.

Meh, I'm perfectly happy with having the first release of the game, seriously I see no point in blowing another $50 for merly a couple extra Baba movies, some minor touch-ups, and the Japanese cast (especially since we're getting them in Budokai Tenkaichi). Atari's just milking the franchise for all they can simply because they have nothing else good to market. Budokai 3 CE is the same damn game as the Budokai 3 we all bought last November, I don't see the point in a few nifty extras getting me to buy the exact same game. 5 is enough for me PS2 DBZ wise, Budokai Tenkaichi will be my last boguhten DBZ game for the PS2, hope you hardcories enjoy getting milked considering there's already a perfectly good version of it on sale for $30. And a minor note: I don't see anything wrong with getting a game in the "Greatest Hits" label, I got Budokai 1 under that and the package art is just fine IMO.

[Sarcasim] In that case, ignore the psycho babbel above and sign this Otaku up, I want my Budokai 3 at it's best. With Atari milking the franchise as much as possible, watch them re-release Budokai 1 in the PAL version and then Budokai Tenkaichi with the original music, hell they got nothing else to market. Then in 3 years, we shall have our ultimate PS2 DBZ 8 games/versions box-set, probably for a $100B-kun wrote:Ah, Conan, reread the announcement. It's being released under the "Greatest Hit" thing, so it's only 20 bucks.

Well, I was being sarcastic in my second post, I don't plan on getting B3 CE simply because I already have the original released version. I'm not gonna waste $20 when I could use that money to help get an all new DBZ game instead, that being Budokai Tenkaichi of course. Maybe I'll get Budokai 3 CE, if it's at a nice low enough price. Quite frankly I prefer having the original released version, that's more of a collectors' edition IMO, don't know about the rest of you.Majin Buu wrote:XD It looked like you did a complete 180 there.

This is great news! (sarcastic) I just spent $20 paying off my Budokai 3 from Blockbuster. I had it out about two weeks over the due date so it was either take it back or pay the remainder, ($17.99). If I'd have seen this, I might have just taken it back, payed the restocking fee and purchased the new one.

There's your "extra" characters/costumes. However my eyes are locked onto a different more brand new Budokai title

I was upset that Gohan and Vegeta had Saiyan Battle vest option but Trunks did not. Stupid yes, but it was a small annoyance to me. Piccolo Daimao was one of my all time favorite characters so I would be willing to pay $20 if those extras are included. Is that the case? Or is it just the Japanese voices option?

Wait a sec...When talking about Japanese voices, do they mean in-game voices such as conversations in DU mode and during battle, or just clips to be unlocked so that we could listen in the bonus mode?
All vocal in the game is in Japanese.
