Re: Ashy-kun's Song Translations

Here is my attempt at Progression. I'm not too fond of it, but I refuse to keep listening to the song. I honestly can't stand it. I know it's a petty reason, but that's also why I'm not going to do the B-side song. That, and I can't find it anywhere, to try and translate it the way I usually do so (i.e. listen to the song, get lyrics that match the way it's sung, and also to hear the words I can't tell the kanji of). I'll be focusing on some of the other songs listed already as requests. That said, here's my go at Progression.
Ooi naru shinka e to ima susume!

Move onwards, now, on towards a large progression!

Ah mimi wo sumaseba
Kikoeru darou to your heart
Sou michi naru jidai no
Takaraka na ano ashioto

Ah, should you open your ears clear,
You can hear them, right? Right to your heart?
That’s right, those ringing loud footsteps
Of an era yet unknown

Kurushimi ni uchikatta toki
Arata naru densetsu ga hajimaru
Tattaima

The moment we’ve overcome the hardships,
A legend, fresh and new, will begin
Right now!

Mugendai ni hirogare
Kanousei yo hirakare
Shikou no level kabe wo kowashi mezase
Yowaki jibun norikoe
Saijoukyuu no asu e
Hikari wo hanatsu chikyuu no rekishi kono te de tsukure

Spread outwards, into infinity
Possibilities! Become open!
Aim to destroy this wall of the supreme level
Climb on over your weak self
Towards the highest grade of tomorrows
With these hands of yours, create a history for the Earth releasing its light

Mezamaseyuku sekai e to ima susume!
Ooi naru shinka e to ima susume!

Move onwards, towards a world that’s going to wake up!
Move onwards, now, on towards a large progression!

Ah haruka toki kara
Furikaeshita days of war
Sou tachikiru shunkan
Mitodokeyou kono hitomi de

Ah, from a far-off time,
They have relapsed, these days of war
That’s right, this moment to cut them apart,
Let’s make sure of it, with these of eyes of ours

Kizutsuita kono yo wo kaero
Sono tame ni kono jidai umarete
Koko ni iru

Change this world, that has been hurt
For that reason, this era, being born…
It is here with you

Sekaijuu ni hikari wo
Chikyuujou ni midori wo
Shisou no stage ketsui idaiteagero
Ikiru koto ni hokori wo
Kako no itami mune ni
Uchuu de hitotsu Gaia no ai kono te de mamore

Throughout the world, the light…
On top of the Earth, the greenery…
On this stage of ideas, your determination… Do embrace all of them
The pride (you have) in living…
The pains of bygone days, into your heart…
As one, in the cosmos, protect the love of Gaia, with these hands of yours

Kurushimi ni uchikatta toki
Arata naru densetsu ga hajimaru
Tattaima

The moment we’ve overcome the hardships,
A legend, fresh and new, will begin
Right now!

Mugendai ni hirogare
Kanousei yo hirakare
Shikou no level kabe wo kowashi mezase
Yowaki jibun norikoe
Saijoukyuu no asu e
Hikari wo hanatsu chikyuu no rekishi kono te de tsukure

Spread outwards, into infinity
Possibilities! Become open!
Aim to destroy this wall of the supreme level
Climb on over your weak self
Towards the highest grade of tomorrows
With these hands of yours, create a history for the Earth releasing its light

Mezamaseyuku sekai e to ima susume!

Move onwards, towards a world that’s going to wake up!

Ooi naru shinka e to ima susume!

Move onwards, now, on towards a large progression!

Ah, this song from Kurilin. Well, I'll look into it. November's going to be a busy month for me, as I'm doing a few writing challenges, including NaNoWriMo, and depending on when the CD I need comes, I'll be doing a month of Super Sentai songs, probably December or January.

Just a little update to say how busy I am. Dragonball songs will be falling by the wayside for a bit, until probably January, as I am currently doing a Sentai song video each day, for the project "Kourin Sentai Calenger".

December's going to be pretty busy, but I shall try and upload a lot of stuff again, in January, for Daizex.

Ugh. The worries of being busy with other stuff for over two months.

I do plan on bringing stuff back to Daizex. I'm thinking of starting with "That There Guy, He's Son Gokuu".

Oh, I love that song. I hope you get around to it soon. XD

Just last night I wrote English lyrics to Majin-Boo no Higeki based on your translation. Your translations are done well, and easy to understand, 'cause it usually doesn't take me only a couple hours to write English lyrics to a song. :D

Really? Only a couple of hours? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

A good thing! :D :P

Though, it also helped that the song wasn't full of too much rhyming. lol

I know I said I'd do "That Guy There is Son Gokuu" next, but I just really wanted to do this song for a while, so here is "Wolf Hurricane", including the "Rou Ga Fuu Fuu Ken" parts.
- - - - -

Rou Ga Fuu Fuu Ken!

Wolf Fang Typhoon Fist!

Cool na manazashi
Hot na heart
Ore ga uwasa no nice guy - Yum-Cha sa!

A cool look in my eyes,
And a real hot heart
I am the all-round talked about ‘nice guy’ - Yeah, that’s Yum-Cha!

Meppou tsuyoi ga
Onna nya ubui
Hana mo hajirau yume wo miru!

Though I’m absurdly strong, when it
Comes to women, I’m green
Heck, I have dreams where even the flowers blush too!

Ai no bouquet ni yoroishirete
Itsumo kimi dake jitto mitsumeita no sa!
Furimukanaide… Ite kure yo!
Kimi no hitomi ni yowai kara!

Getting off my head on the bouquet of love,
I’m sure to have been staring intently, fixedly, at just you, at all times!
Please don’t turn your face this way… Please, just stay right there!
‘Cause I just go all frail and weak, at your eyes!

Lonely Wolf
Sabaku no Yum-Cha
Hoshi no hikari ga mune wo utsu toki…

The lonely wolf, ooh…
The desert’s own Yum-Cha
The very moment the light of the stars strikes my chest…

Lonely Wolf
Kaze ga naite mo
Ore no ashiato nokoru no sa!

The lonely wolf, ooh…
Even though the winds may howl,
My very footsteps, they are sure to stay behind!

Rou Ga Fuu Fuu Ken!

Wolf Fang Typhoon Fist!

Namida wa misezu ni
Guts de shoubu
Ore wa itsudemo nice guy - Yum-Cha sa!

Without showing any tears,
With guts, I’ll compete!
I am at all times, as ever, the ‘nice guy’ - Yeah, that’s Yum-Cha!

Engine zenkai
Turbo na kibun
Asu wo mezashite tsuppashiru!

Engines, at full throttle,
It’s a turbo feeling -
Aiming for tomorrow, I run on, straight through!

Ai no yakusoku shitai kedo
Ribbon musubi ja hakanaku yowasugiru no sa!
Chikayoranaide… Ite kure yo!
Kimi no subete ga suki dakara!

I do wanna make the promise of love, although…
I’m sure to just get way too weak if I were to be tying the ribbon!
Please don’t come any closer… Please, just stay right there!
Because I just love everything about you!

Lonely Wolf
Kouya no Yum-Cha
Southern Cross ga nagareochireba…

The lonely wolf, ooh…
The wild’s own Yum-Cha
Should the Southern Cross stream its way on down…

Lonely Wolf
Sora no kanata e
Ore no sekai ga moeagaru!

The lonely wolf, ooh…
Towards the other side of the skies,
My very world will rise up into flames for you!

Lonely Wolf
Sabaku no Yum-Cha
Hoshi no hikari ga mune wo utsu toki…

The lonely wolf, ooh…
The desert’s own Yum-Cha
The very moment the light of the stars strikes my chest…

Lonely Wolf
Kaze ga naite mo
Ore no ashiato nokoru no sa!

The lonely wolf, ooh…
Even though the winds may howl,
My very footsteps, they are sure to stay behind!

Rou Ga Fuu Fuu Ken!

Wolf Fang Typhoon Fist!

Please could you translate Red Ribbon Army and Moeru Heart de 〜Red Ribbon Gun o Yattsukero〜?

No way! Moeru Heart de 〜Red Ribbon Gun o Yattsukero〜: best song in DB. :D
Also, it's Kenji Yamamoto's first ever contribution to Dragon Ball; he did the arrangement of that song.

And great work on Wolf Hurricane, Ashy-kun. :D

EDIT: I lied. Moeru Heart de 〜Red Ribbon Gun o Yattsukero〜 AND Hatsukoi wa Kumo ni Notte are the best songs in DB. :D

I'm currently working on both finishing "That Guy There is Son Gokuu" and doing a Red Ribbon double-feature (picture show- No, wait...).

In the meantime, Mr. Link, you really have intrigued me with these song adaptations, like of my translations, that you say you've done. Perhaps you could send me them in a private message, or better yet, make a topic showing off your talent with these adaptations for others to see?

I'll make a topic for them, I guess. Hmm... I should work on them a bit more, tho. Most aren't quite where I'd like them to be. I got them to about 90% awesome, then got lazy.

Gah! I'm excited for your next few songs! XD

It's been too long since I got to update my topic, so here goes, seeing as it's at least one thing I can offer this community, and even then, I'm not really gonna be that needed any more, now that Julian's done a good lot more song translations.

Here's "Ossan's Dilemma", or "The Ol' Fart's Dilemma".
Chotto mae no koto sa!
Wakai yatsu ni yarareta
Kuyashii no ni warai ga komiageta yo
Kyuu ni…

It was only a little while ago now…!
That I was done in by some young punk!
And though it was rough on me, laughter had filled my heart right up!
So suddenly…

Aoku hareta kao wo
Kagami de mite naze da ka?
Hotto shite’ru jibun ni ki ga tsuita yo
Honto sa!

And so, just why’s it that I’m now
Looking at my pale, swollen face in the mirror?
I’ve noticed myself getting a little too relieved and relaxed now!
Them’s the facts!

Ore mo tsui ni
Ossan ni natta no ka?
Itsu no ma ni jikan wa sugita no ka?

And so now, could it be
That I too have at last turned into an ol’ fart?
And so could it be that my time’s passed by, in just the blink of an eye?

Oh my God - Kami yo
Mou ichido
Ore ni akuun wo kurenai ka?

Oh my God! O, Lord above!
Oh, just one time more…
Oh, could you just please not grant me any of that rotten luck?

Akuma ni tamashii
Utte ii!
Kiken na yatsu de itai yo!

Sell my soul to the Devil -
It’s okay with me!
I just wanna hang with the dangerous guys once more!

O.B.’ tte moji wa
‘Oharaibako’ no ryaku sa!
Soreka ‘Oriro bakayarou!’ tte imi sa!
Shitte’ru…

“L.G.” - These here letters, they are
An abbreviation for being ‘let go’!
Or rather the real meaning is “Get out, ya dumbass!”
I know this…

Sodatteyuku wakai me mitsumeru no ga
Korekara no ore no yakume kamo na

And so I stare at this shoot, so young, growing up, and yet now…
It is possible that this is my duty from here on out!

Oh my God - Dakedo
Ato sukoshi
Moekasu ga kusubutteiru ze!

Oh my God - Even so…
Just a little while after this…
The cinders left behind are just smouldering away!

‘Madamada hayai
Kozou-ra’ to
Yoyuu de sakendemitai!

“There’s still life in the old dog yet
You hasty, young so-and-so’s!”
I’d like to try yelling that at them, by my leave!

Oh my God - Kami yo
Mou ichido
Ore ni akuun wo kurenai ka?

Oh my God! O, Lord above!
Oh, just one time more…
Oh, could you just please not grant me any of that rotten luck?

Akuma ni tamashii
Utte ii!
Kiken na yatsu de itai yo!

Sell my soul to the Devil -
It’s okay with me!
I just wanna hang with the dangerous guys once more!
One thing I'd like to come back to, about this song, is come up with a better abbreviation for the "Oharaibako"/"O.B." that would work with the "Oriro, bakayarou". Perhaps something like "P.S." for "pink slip" and "Piss off, ya slacker!"

Well, that works for "O.B." and "Oriro, bakayarou", but the song has a link between all three. There's an abbreviation ("O.B."), the words that are abbreviated ("Oharaibako"), which are a euphemism for getting fired, and then the hidden meaning that has the same two letters starting it "Oriro, bakayarou", implying a hidden meaning. That's why I was thinking something like "P.S.", "pink slip" and "Piss off, ya slacker!"
