My custom remaster of the DBGT Special

Post by Namekjin » Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:29 pm

I decided to do a remaster of the DBGT Special with Virtualdub.
Here's a clip of the NEP.

Sorry, but that looks pretty bad. It looks like you bumped the saturation to ridiculous levels and not much more...

How do you think I could make it better? Just start over and re-do it?

You probably can't tbh. But bumping up the saturation is not "remastering" it. Even FUNimation's DVNR mess is more "remastering" than that.

Well, there is no need to edit the colours because the footage of GT special is from the D2 diginal video tape which Fuji TV used for the original broadcast. It is exactly how GT looked originally. All you should do is deinterlacing and converting the footage into 23.976fps.

Could I remove flim damage if that's alright? And could I sharpen the picture some?

I say don't mess with it. It's how it's suppose to be anyway.

O__o;; isn't anyone going to mention that it looks really orange? I mean the original?

Here, I tried to do a quick remastering to get rid of that orange glow:

Not oversaturated, but an ACTUAL color correction O__o;;

EDIT: I thought about it for a bit and came to the conclusion that, even though Dragon Ball GT was broadcast this way... shouldn't it be as close to the original animation cels as possible? So... I tried:

Couldn't find a matching cel that went with the video the op had given, I don't have the entire special on hand, so this was as close as I could get.
