I've spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 to 2,200 USD in the last 6 years. In the last 5 months iv spent 978 USD. and planning on another 2,000 USD, before my collection is near completion.

And here I was also thinking about getting the Dragon Boxes, but not sure if it's a good idea, even though they're on amazon.com.jp. The photos are not of the actual set, and besides... I don't have money for this lol I still have the rest of
the Dragon Boxes and Kai releases to buy. Not to mention, hopefully, if the Dragon Ball and GT Dragon Boxes get released.

That would be way to much to individually count but most were bought at release, minus the VHS so you know they were over priced back then, ESPECIALLY the Z single I was buying from Suncoast back in the day for like 20 a pop and 30 for the movies. So i'd say a few thousands give or take a few hundred....the sad thing is I couldn't even get half of that back if I sold them all.

Where in the world did you get everything so cheap? Or is that just what the older stuff costs now??

That puts me at ~$624. Feel free to add about a hundred because I am sure I forgot some things.

My spending isn't nearly as bad as most people on the forums I am sure. There was a while where I really kinda fell out of the DragonBall spirit. I had my manga, and the high cost of owning the anime kept me from buying the DVDs. I didn't buy most of the games that seemed like they were the same thing I already had, and once merchandise started disappearing permanently from toy store shelves that was it for me for a while.
This figure is likely to ratchet up fairly soon. I still need to catch up on the DragonBoxes. I want the Blue Bricks because I am happy enough with their current price v. quality ratio. Same with GT. I am holding off on the films because I remain hopeful for a DragonBox: The Movies since Funi has told us they have those masters. On top of all that there is my budding obsession with DragonBall figures. For Instance I just put in a pre-order on one yesterday. Guess I'd better keep picking up extra shifts here on campus when they're available.

Edit: Go ahead and toss another $5 on there for next month's Shonen Jumo with "Cross Epoch."

About 1,500 in the 8 months I've been collecting? I've been ripped off numerous times, and shipping = UGH lol. I should have way more than I currently do for what I've spent but I've no interest in the manga or DVD's or anything just the figures.

The sad fact is that I've spent roughly $3,000, and now thinking about getting the Japanese Dragon Boxes so that's another like... over $4,000 lol So far I've seen $1,4000 for all of Z, $1,000 for Dragon Ball, $500 for the movies, and $800 for GT. Not including shipping/handling. Eff you ebay!

I think the question is how much money did you not spend from your paycheck on it lol VegettoEX, I am utterly jealous that you already had the Dragon Boxes for a while. I have to dig down deep into the piggy banks to get mine. I hate being a collector, why the hell do I need them? I don't even understand Japanese! But damn it I want them. Maybe after I'm dead broke, maybe finally then I can be at peace with my closure of the series. Thank God I'm not a home owner yet, my dumb ass would probably have to refinance everything to get those things

Ah, lucky! Did you find any good deals when you were there? I remember when I was buying up the old Funi singles and boxsets I nabbed most of them for $5 and under (the boxes of course were a little more pricey) through things like half.com and amazon. (I got a DVD player late in the game.)

I was also was blessed enough to win a lot full of Japanese merchandise for $1. The shipping was $20, but it was understandable due to how much stuff there was and the weight. It was a ton of Japanese manga and movie manga, binders full of trading cards, a framed puzzle, etc.
