Unreleased/Cancelled video games
Based on a comment from this topic, I want to know how many video games that were announced but got scrapped at the end.
I know at least two:
The first one that I know would be Dragon Ball GT Transformation 2 for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
I played and finished the first game. It was boring compared to Advanced Adventure, but I managed to reach the very end. I think if it was an action RPG like the Legacy series, it would've sell more. But I heard the sequel got canceled due to poor sales.
The other game I heard of was an RPG game based on the Red Ribbon saga for the GBA as well. I don't quite well, but was this a Japanese-only game and they didn't localize it, or the Japanese got canceled as well and the game didn't exist? I think I'm making stuff up but my memory about this one is fuzzy.
Were there other ones? New games, sequels or ports?

There was actually some game that was detailed in a game magazine I had around the time Legacy of Goku came out that I don't think ever came out. They showed off 3D assets of Kame House, as well as Raditz and Goku. I'll see if I can dig it up and take pictures.
Re: Unreleased/Cancelled video games
Wouldn't that have been Budokai? It was released shortly after Legacy of Goku, from what I recall. There might have been some preliminary models floating around.Taku128 wrote:There was actually some game that was detailed in a game magazine I had around the time Legacy of Goku came out that I don't think ever came out. Is this what you're remembering? http://i50.tinypic.com/2mdm4r9.jpgTaku128 wrote:There was actually some game that was detailed in a game magazine I had around the time Legacy of Goku came out that I don't think ever came out. Pretty sure this is it. I seem to have thrown away the magazine, so I can't take pictures of my own. One of the pages had the inside of Kame House, which I don't think was ever shown in Budokai 1, and the character model style looks quite different from Budokai 1. Didn't remember that it was because they modeled the characters to use as reference.Innagadadavida wrote:Is this what you're remembering? http://i50.tinypic.com/2mdm4r9.jpgTaku128 wrote:There was actually some game that was detailed in a game magazine I had around the time Legacy of Goku came out that I don't think ever came out. Re: Unreleased/Cancelled video games
It was July 2004 that we dug up pages and descriptions for Legacy of Goku IV and Red Ribbon Army Saga, both slated for the GBA. The pages were almost immediately taken down (both were on Atari's website). Here's the description they had for the latter:
Early URLs for Transformation on GBA used "log_4", so we can assume that was the working title for what that became.
About a year later in May 2005 is when the listings for Transformation 2 started popping up... which was slightly before the first Transformation was even released.
It could be that the game was just Advance Adventure, which wasn't to be released until that November in Japan. No real way of knowing.Atari's website back in 2004 wrote:On his continuing quest to regain the Dragon Ball which represents the spiritual essence of his beloved grandfather, Goku is horrified to learn that death and destruction seem to be following just behind him. He soon learns that the source of this chaos is the Red Ribbon Army, who are also in hot pursuit of the seven Dragon Balls which, when assembled, will grant their owner a wish.
Goku’s toughest challenge lies ahead as he faces the Red Ribbon’s Evil Generals, Hired Assassins and ultimately the Army’s Muscle Tower. Along the way he will meet interesting characters who will become great allies or terrible foes.

Was it intended to be just like the Legacy Of Goku style? Or the same as we got but under the LOG branding?VegettoEX wrote: Early URLs for Transformation on GBA used "log_4", so we can assume that was the working title for what that became.

I saw the same thing, and what I remember reading is that this would going to be a N64 game. And it was not the screen capture that is linked in this thread.Taku128 wrote:There was actually some game that was detailed in a game magazine I had around the time Legacy of Goku came out that I don't think ever came out. Talking about cancelled games, there was one for the 3DO:

I remember this as well, but I can't recall exactly where I read it. If I remember correctly, the same article said that each console was going to have a DBZ game in a different genre (fighting/PS2, action/Gamecube, RPG/Xbox, if I'm not mistaken).Taku128 wrote:There was actually some game that was detailed in a game magazine I had around the time Legacy of Goku came out that I don't think ever came out. Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I remember that gamepro issue, I still wonder what that game would have been liked? I also remember reading a N64 port of Legends was plan but was scrap when the game was in the making.

Re: Unreleased/Cancelled video games
More so a tech demo, but apparently there was a Dragon Ball game showed for PS2 at E3 2000 or something that looked nothing like Budokai.

Re: Unreleased/Cancelled video games
It was mentioned years ago that a few forum members had the video, but when I PMed them about it, they said they no longer had access to the hard-drives where the video is stored.Hellspawn28 wrote:^Really? Is there any videos or images of it?

However, for that I understood, this image was in a SATURN! And for my knowledge, doesn't has a game that simulates polygon characters of DBZ in the SATURN!

Very interesting finds, man, and it is also interesting that they were thinking DBZ Legends would be released on SNES.dr_raichi wrote:Here is some cancel games :

That DBZ game looks pretty awesome. I would love to see someone try to remake that for the Xbox Kinetic or PS Move.

Re: Unreleased/Cancelled video games
I remember ages ago, before there were any Dragon Ball games released internationally (hard to believe now), hearing that the Quake III mod, "Bid for Power" had been canceled due to complaints by Atari (Infogrames, I guess), who had apparently licensed the games for the US.
After that, I remember seeing a demo of Goku riding Kinto'un around a forest, as well as some interior Kame House stuff rendered in what looked like very early PS2 graphics quality.
EDIT:

Multiple canceled Atari games are mentioned in this article. Of note are plans for a Gamecube action rpg that would have connected to the GBA LoG games and a first person PC game.
